Title: Call to Action: Unity Rally
Post by: TonyV on September 05, 2012, 04:42:19 AM
Hey all, our efforts are really becoming visible (http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=296759).  That's great news, and I really hope that it's the shot in the arm of morale that you all need to continue on!

Our next Call to Action is something fun that will be a display of unity, an opportunity for photo ops for press releases and communications to NCsoft, and that best of all will simultaneously give a shot in the arm of morale to people who probably need it badly and deserve our unwavering support: the programmers, designers, managers, marketers, artists, testers, accountants, community relaters, moderators, administrative assistants, and everyone else with a job title that doesn't fit neatly in the above whose incredible talents and awesome work ethic have built the world in which our imaginations live.

Unity Rally
Saturday, September 8, 5:00pm Eastern (2:00pm Pacific) : Atlas Park, Virtue

Please note, this is not a "Virtue" event.  It's just a server I picked pseudo-randomly because it was most populated when I just popped in and looked, and I had to pick somewhere.  We need all players from all servers to show up!  I want ten instances of Atlas Park going with so many people camping City Hall that you can't even see the stairs.  Don't have a character on Virtue?  No problem, you'll probably need a new one anyway for the contest below!  I'm going to take a bunch of pictures for our press releases and communications, so for Pete's sake, wear something nice.

Paragon Appreciation Costume Contest
Saturday, September 8, 6:00pm Eastern (3:00pm Pacific) : Atlas Park, Virtue

After the photo/video ops, the singalong, and the complimentary snacks and fruit punch, stick around because I want to have the biggest costume contest Paragon City has ever seen!  Forget nines, you'd better dress to the ELEVENS for this one.  Ah, but you can't just throw on any ol' neutrino powered tuxedo 9000 armor and expect to win this one, because there's a theme.

I want you all dressed... (drumroll please)... as your favorite Paragon Studios employee!  That's right, I want ten Atlas Parks filled to Zwillinger's brims with Matt "Positron" Millers, Melissa "War Witch" Biancos, Andy "Zwillinger" Belfords, Hosun "Black Pebble" Lees, Keetsie "Tunnel Rat" Braz da Cunhnas, Arbiter Hawks, TheNets,... whoever strikes your fancy!  In fact, what they heck, let's recognize some of the old-timers who got us to where we are today.  Let's get some April "CuppaJo" Burbas!  Some Avateas!  Some Zeb "Lord Recluse" Cooks!  Some Jack "Statesman" Emmerts!  Some Jill "Ex Libris" Hendersons!  Some Christopher "Back Alley Brawler" Bruces!

Remember, I'm not talking about the characters, I'm talking about the people themselves.  I don't want this:

I want THIS!

"So how do I know what my favorite Paragon Studios staffer looks like?"  Good question!  There are a few resources.  If you attended any of the Hero-Cons, Player Summits, conventions or Meet-and-Greets, just dig out those old pictures from when you excitedly squeaked like a schoolboy, "Oh!!!  C'mere, c'mere, c'mere, c'mere!!!  I want my picture with you!!!"  (What?  Was I really the only one?)  Otherwise, you can look them up on the Paragon Wiki (http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Main_Page), a lot of them have pictures posted there.  You can also check out some of the Coffee Talk videos on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/user/ncsoftnorcal), Ustream (http://www.ustream.tv/channel/paragon-studios), and Twitch.tv (http://www.twitch.tv/paragonstudios/videos).  After that, I guess you're kind of stuck, unless there were some massive searchable index of pictures (https://www.google.com/imghp) that one could try...  If you actually have pictures of Paragon staffers from events, post them below and identify who they are so we'll know!

The one thing I ask is please don't be mean, don't use this as an opportunity to grind an ax you have.  Let's keep it fun and lighthearted.  Endearing caricatures of your favorite Paragonster though?  Oh yeah.  Posi in a red jacket?  Matt Thriller.  Zwillinger with a bats aura?  Andy Belfry.  Be imaginative!

So what are the prizes for the contest?  Shoot fire, I don't know.  (Put down the Incinitron ZX Glove, it was only a figure of speech.)  Fortune and glory, kid, fortune and glory.  I'll walk around and give out stuff to people who I think are creative, funny, scarily accurate, or whose jib I find cut particularly well.  In fact, It's a BYOP costume contest.  Bring a bunch of stuff collecting dust in your base bins and be your own judge.  I'll be snapping pictures like mad and taking some videos, though, so your "characters" will probably make their way back to the models they're based on, maybe even seen by the original him- or herself (http://theclicker.today.com/_news/2012/02/12/10391249-nicolas-cage-clones-himself-for-saturday-night-live?lite).

So come on out this Saturday and let's party like it's 2009!

Please don't drink and fly.  Call a Taxibot.

Hi TonyV,

Just to translate, this will be 21:00 GMT / 22:00 BST / 23:00 CET over here in Europe.

I am travelling right now so my only way of logging into the game will be an internet cafe - not sure I will find one open that late into the evening, but I will certainly try! :)

I would like to offer my services as DJ Pheonyx of The Cape Radio by broadcasting from the Unity Rally (which happens to coincide with my normal show time on Saturday 5-8PM) if you'll have me.

Zoser, allow me to introduce you to the concept of "war driving." ;-)

As the date approaches, we can work out more details/activities, but do we want to avoid any costumes that might be construed as infringing copyrights (safe enough if we dress as a dev, but not as photogenic, except to send to said devs). Do we want to /e protest?

Although I don't possess my name on Virtue, I'll get something over there and show up nonetheless. Then, it's back to Champion for our events, just in case we still close down on Nov. 30th.

Thanks for starting all of this, Tony. If there's anything I can do to help, let me know.  :D

Due to lack of any suitable computers in my possession and no early bus until 8 AM to Uni (the event starts at 6 AM, Sunday where I live), I'm afraid I won't be able to join. However, I will still lend my support.

Hey Tony!  First, Thank you and thank-you Titan Network for doing all this!  Great idea about thanking the media!  It's also excellent that you have the link to these Titan forums in your signature line on the CoH official forums.  I know that word IS getting out and hope is rising!  I think we're all prepared, as we recover and regroup to pop all our Purples (Luck inspirations), summon our Shivans and HVAS's, etc. and take on intelligently this greatest of Great Monsters, Corporate, which isnt even necessarily an EVIL monster, just one about to destroy everything with no caring apparently for the injury it does.

As I said on the CoH forum, I'll be there, and so will heaps of other people.  As to looking like an actual favorite Paragon Studio employee (past or present), 1. not only is it hard to pick just one, but 2. is there a picture of the Ocho somewhere?  The Ocho was my favorite Mod, though I've been happy with all of them.

I really, really wish I could, since I missed the show of solidarity on Monday, but I won't make this one, either... unless it's still going at 8-9pm Eastern.

I hope an enormous amount of people do make it, though, and stand strong!

I'll try and point this thread in Kallandra's direction.

The EU Player meet is happening this Sunday in Birmingham, England, and she's the boss of that having been the person who's put it together.

The contest takes place at 10pm BST - so that might be slightly tricky given that some of us may be/have imbibing/ed (all of the above.)

However, there's also some value in having lots of pics of players playing as we have the cossie contest.

You know, this being Virtue, there's nothing saying we can't have people host costume contests every hour on the hour starting at 5pm Eastern and going as long as anybody wants to get another one going.  I think there's SGs who have weekly contests, but heaven help me I never kept track.  (Besides I've been almost exclusively redside since City of Villains launched, and the action was nearly always in Atlas.)

Anyone here better aware of these things and know the SGs I'm talking about?  If nobody else does, I can try to get in contact with their leadership and see if they'd like to coordinate efforts.  Virtue's a solid choice in my biased opinion, because we rally costume contests like nobody's business.  I plan to be in Atlas at 5 EST for support but can't guarantee I can be actively engaged or help oversee anything until about 8pm Eastern.  (I'm full up on Virtue characters so I'll have to use my existing Paula persona, but she's with City Hall, so for RP purposes maybe I should see if I can arrange for more time-free-active-participation during the 5+ block...)

DJ Pheonyx: Want to see if Agent Crypto and DJ Templar want to continue on the theme through their broadcasts?

Regarding /e protest: My personal thought is that it's hilarifun to have the great big /e protest with all the masterminds' pets included.  However I'm also not sure everybody finds it comedy gold versus confrontational/inflammatory... and we're still in the "Phantom Zone" of finding out what our real options are going to be.  We want NCSoft to like, appreciate, and respect our love for City of Heroes.  If anybody's personal feelings are on the line in a way that might negatively impact our efforts, now's an excellent time to treat those impressions with respect and conciliation...

This is a show of appreciation for the truly awesome work Paragon (and past Cryptic!) folks have done for us, so I'd personally like to see folks keep the focus on APPRECIATION!  That takes a lot of work and coordination, but in my experience, the payoff is hugemongous.  There's a laser-fierce power in maintaining the Focus of Cohesion, which is hard to appreciate until it's felt in practice -- like these threads!

Gah, this got long, I'm supposed to be working and am ultra-behind!  Keep up the awesomeness, friends, see y'all soon. <3

effing BRILLIANT! :D

I absolutely think "carrying the flame" is the perfect message.  Given that there's word of the Best Possible Option (in my opinion) being sought by some from Paragon Studios, seeing if they can't get the band back together to continue stuff personally, I'm personally lighting a candle for them...

This is what I'll be doing.

Protest signs, in my humble opinion, seem more confrontational than holding a torch to show support.

And the torch is to light the way... to a better, stronger MMO! :)

I am doing what I can to be there. In fact, I am considering skipping an acquaintance's wedding to be there, but I have to admit that I would WAY rather wear my Positron, Synapse, Statesman, Zombie Statesman, and other such costumes than to try to make costumes of the actual devs.

Dovetailing on what Mighty wrote, the beauty of CoH's custom creator is the countless unique, individual looks you can make.  To me, that's more far more interesting (and representative of CoH's spirit) than creating cookie-cutter costumes.  (Not to mention, seeing thousands of unique-looking heroes would make a better media photo op than the same ~80 RL people.)

As I will be in London throuh the 12th, I invite any and all CoH players in London to reach me via PM on this forum, and maybe we can meet for a group photo at a convenient location? I'm trying to see if we can get costume contests every hour on the hour for as long as people are around to do them, since Virtue is all about costume contests anyway!  Also hoping the DJs that are on the rest of the evening can talk things up, maybe get people to do solidarity powerlevelling runs based out of the AE/DFB ... anything to keep the party going all night long.

So log in when you get in and hopefully there will be plenty going on.  :)

.... Now isn't that a good question.  Personally, Atlas is where everything happens and it makes the best photo-op backdrops, but I'd love to see spill-over into Pocket D.  Maybe we can also have a Save Paragon Dance Party going on!  (Funny trivia: The first character I ever made is still in Paragon Dance Party.  I left her zoned out there before the change happened, and I decided I'd rather leave her there and never play her again.  Nostalgia, eh?)

Also, that makes me think of Solidarity iTrials!  Saturday night's all about iTrials!  Maybe folks on Virtue who have 50's and still have VIP access can get some going, promoting http://www.tinyurl.com/SaveParagon at the same time? (Or just TinyURL.com/SaveParagon for space, also #savecoh hashtag I believe is being used on Twitter)

FYI, below is the post I cross-posted to the thread on the official forums: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?p=4386354&posted=1#post4386354

To everybody who's posted that you may not be able to make it ontime - Please pop in when you're able!  We need as many people as possible zoning into a Virtue Server Atlas Park and showing support in positive, engaged ways.  I'm hoping to be able to continually recruit folks who can lead activities such as "Unity DFB: Devoted Fan Base" runs, maybe even "Save Paragon DiBs: Dedicated Instigators of Benefactory", or even "Architects of saving our Entertainment: Set the World on Fire Farms"... all based out of a Virtue Atlas Park instance.  When the Hydra head on the right starts to shoot off its light-beams, I want the group leaders to say "Exit to Atlas Park 11".

Anyway, I'm going to be there instigating Random Acts of Solidarity for hours after things wrap up, for as long as I'm able to stay coherent.  Make that conscious.  For as long as I'm able to stay conscious.  If nobody else volunteers to help out with costume contests every hour on the hour after the "official TonyV-instigated Titan Network-promoted Dress as your Favorite Paragon Staff" one at 6pm eastern... I'll host them myself.

So please, hope other people volunteer, cause my tastes run... Odd. ;)

That said, I will definitely accept donations of INF to @Paula on Virtue, with the guarantee that they would go 100% to costume contest prizes.  I'm a waaaay casual player and can only offer so much, so even if you can't help host anything, sponsoring would be welcome!  If so, lemme know if you'd like to be announced as a sponsor of the contest I use your gift to help fund.

Thanks a billion to everyone reading this.  This means you haven't given up on the game, packed up your bytes and gone off to Farmville.  Because of people like you, City of Heroes has become a digital home worth saving.  And save it, we will.

Oh, really, now?  I think I have a special bonus mission for you.  We seem not to have any screenshots of PDP over yonder (http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Paragon_Dance_Party), you see.  :)

That aside, I think it would be great if the whole rally spilled out across the entire server.

Coop, like Pocket D would be more inclusive, but, if this works, too confining for the kind of effect that we're looking for.  How about a villain-side one for those who prefer that side?  I don't want to divide the effort, but it'd be worth it if we could fill the area around the trainer or between the Black Market and AE in Mercy Island, at least for the group shot.

If you need some crazy Paragon Dance Party screenshots, I've got some doozies. In the very early hours of September 5th,  NCsoft_Arbiter_Hawk showed up in Pocket D on Virtue and put on a show. He had a War Walker and some Nemesis flying horses that never made it into the game. At some point he was asked  by someone in attendance if he could take us to any secret places in the game. He proceeded to log out, log back in as a flying car (really), and teleported  40 or 50 of us simultaneously into Paragon Dance Party where we fought Statesman 7 or 8 times. Yeah, I know it sounds crazy but I got screenshots. Not amazing screenshots because there are chatbars and such, but enough to show it really happened! My toon is still in there too.

my suggestions on this (wish i thought of it sooner) but has anyone found out if devs would be around to activate power suppression?

having zwillinger show up in the various zones that are being focused on would probably help out a lot

also, for those who will be busy that day, have you considered making the toon and then logging them in and starting an AE mish to prevent auto logging and just sit there? while you will just be there in spirit your toon can still be there to rally the cause

also i think i may end up making my characters costume be zeb "lord recluse" cook cause nobody is dressing as villains  :P

Word is definitely out of this, with some players doing the AE/afk thing while at work or other prior commitment.  When I was on Virtue the players there are planning on other CC's and parties after the Rally.  I have my Matt "positron" Miller costume, tho I don't think it's looks all that much like him, but LOL the AE mission "Developer Distress" seems to be inaccessable atm.  I imagine others also remembered that this AE would provide a good example of what the costume creator could do.  Good thing for Melissa I never got around to buying the Super Science booster pack or have a female toon on Virtue, or I'd have been tempted to do one of her.  So many fine people here.  Man, I hope all this support and community action works!

Regarding the zone choice, I'm pretty sure Atlas Park was chosen because it's easily recognizable (which is good for press images). The steps before City Hall and the Atlas+Globe have been the go-to images for City from the dawn of time.

There are a few appropriate titles and badges, and definitely something to bear in mind as the hour approaches.

I want to post, in case it hasn't been somewhere else, that the AE "trick" does work.  There was some doubt, so I tried it.  Even with my computer going to sleep, I stayed logged in and have been for about nine hours, now.

Also, how have we gotten this far without Godwin's Law coming into play anywhere? We even have the perfect in-game group to invoke for this, and no one has.  That's pretty nerd-cool, right there.

Quick thought (dog is whining to go for a walk and I still need to get out of the house and get to work so that I can be back in time for the Rally...)

Could someone set up a page or find a suitable existing one we could use for Unity Rally screenshots on Pinterest?

PDP Screenies?  I am ALL OVER this mission.

Where to send INF donations: I will take them as @Paula!

I am pitching in to help out with the CC and am also planning to be there all night, all night being as long as I can stay up.  So if there's any o'clock during which a Unity Rally CC isn't being held, I'm going to be holding one.  I plan to vary up the themes (taking suggestions), and I think one will be "Dress as your favorite Villain Group" etc.

I wish I could hand out free costume change tokens.  I've got like... 63 of them on my main.

=edit=

If any of the DJs are reading, I'd suggest the following songs, as they seem to fit the mood/theme....

The Adventure - Angels and Airwaves
The Gift - Angels and Airwaves
We're not gonna take it - Twisted Sister
Don't stop believing - Journey
The Final Countdown - Europe

Hope to hear 'em!  :D

I don't know. I do know that you can start an AE mission, leave it running, and not be auto-logged: the game puts you in Task Force mode for AE, which preempts auto-logging.

Title: Re: Call to Action: Unity Rally

Maybe it should be a global event next time so that one single server doesn't get all the traffic. And then, even those who don't stand on the steps and hold a torch could be counted as a supporter. After all, playing the game is showing that you want it to stay alive, too, right? If there's another organized event, we should designate in advance which chat channel to use for those who don't want to or can't join a custom channel. I had to cut out before the costume contest because the zillions of chatters in various colors ended up giving me a migraine.   :-\

However, I don't think I've ever personally seen this many people turn out at the same time for an event, even an official one, and I've been playing since 2004.

Rallying, not protesting. It's a subtle but important difference.

I'm bouncing from server to server, and every one, even if it's green, is slow to let me in.  I know I'm having internal hardware issues, but I'm still taking it as a good sign.

Just for the record, NCSoft is not seeing this directly, but the Red Names will.

Today enforces feelings that are beyond words. Seeing all the people, old and new, seeing all the Atlas Park instances (not to mention crashing Virtue at one point), and knowing that we have the best people behind it all, should make it clear: We ARE Heroes. Everybody who logged on, made a tweet or wrote a letter - YOU HAVE made a difference and this will go down in MMO history. Regardless of our outcome, I KNOW we'll have a game for us to enjoy, whether it's in three months or three years. Do not give up and remember tomorrow, is one day closer to that dream. Cheers!

I only got into about 2/3 of the zones, but below are the Unity Rally screenshots I got when the following zones filled up after we recovered from the server crash: Atlas 8-12, 14-15, 17-19 (plus a bonus shot where Hit Streak's tushie blocked the shot for 19), 20-30, and 32!

Notes: the "8" held up in one of them was accompanied by a chant of "8 More Years!, the Hot Streak candid shot was completely accidental when he floated in as I was hitting PrtSc, and the last shot of Atlas Park 32 shows my "CuppaPaula" look front and center, in honor of our very own CuppaJo who logged in to join the rally!

Here is one I took while in Atlas Park 1 around 12:30pm (CST). By then (even being hours before the protest) I believe 3-4 instances of Atlas Park had already started popping up! What a great show of strength!

Paula, thanks a ton for those pics!  I'm standing front-and-center in pic #20 (4th from the bottom, "Atlas28").  Topher Wade, in his signature costume (red/black/white-ish).  I was sure all the freezes were going to keep me out of any good pics, but no-sir!

Yayness, I'm so glad I got you in one!  I tried to get every zone right after it filled up to try to catch everybody, which meant that I got locked out of a few of them... :(

I was a little disappointed about the costume contest... there were 33 instances of AP on Virtue and a global channel and nobody ever identified where the contest actually took place. I made a simple character just for the rally and cc, too. :)

I was on Defiant this evening and only encountered a couple of people, but I see why. I did get to talk to someone about the history of CoH and what the media coverage has resulted in.

Conclusion: this is awesome! We've got the attention of the entire gaming community! NCSoft may hold all of the cards for CoH itself, but if that falls through, it's likely now that someone will help us. Yay!

During the rally it was brought to my attention that maybe we should plan a gathering like this as often as possible to show NC that we are in unity. Possibly once a week or such. Any ideas on that?

I like this idea, and would suggest that it vary just slightly. Perhaps do a different day (Sunday v. Saturday) or a different time (am v. pm) to give people who almost always work Saturday pm a chance to join. :) I also like that someone suggested we rally on each server. I think it is awesome to have so many instances, but I also think it would look cool to have a few instances per server or have most servers at yellow (ideally red). Plus it allows those of us with crappy PCs or crappy connections a smaller chance of dcing.

Awesome pics by the way! The video one gave me chills. I love it!

I would add that it would accommodate our friends who aren't in the continental US, also.

I was in CO about an hour ago, looking closely at some aspects of the game like motion and object interactions.  They're getting uppity.  There was a discussion of coming up with some way to "recognize the CoX refugees."  The comments got to the point where a dev had to step in.  I didn't enter the discussion, but it pissed me off.  If anyone was lacking in motivation, I suggest logging into CO...

Can we gather up the news articles/blog posts about the Unity Rally?

Especially the ones calling it a protest -- like our two big-name-site articles:

http://massively.joystiq.com/2012/09/06/city-of-heroes-fans-will-hold-a-protest-rally-at-atlas-park/
http://kotaku.com/5941607/city-of-heroes-protest-takes-its-case-to-city-hall

-- Both of these are calling it a protest. I really would like someone who already has an account there to attempt to get the wording changed. It was not a protest - we are not protesting anything yet because it's still up in the air right now - it was a showing of solidarity and support of each other in this time and support of the idea that this City will not go down without a fight. We're heroes. This is what we do.

Thank you for posting this - together with the heroic French horns music this made me cry like a baby just now. This community is simply beyond awesome! My only regret is that the ancient PC I tried to log into the game with yesterday should have met the minimum requirements but apparently did not. Therefore I spent the 2 hours yesterday staring at the Atlas login screen, watching the bar go up just to be disconnected again .... :(

This was a powerful statement that seems to have attracted a lot of attention - let's hope that  the real possibility of a PR disaster shortly after the launch of GW2 will make NCSOFT reconsider!

If only it weren't strongly associated with a character from a very copyrighted mythology, you could even have it be the day an entity with that name came to Paragon, causing a healing light to spread across the City.

Well it was quite a sight to see all in unity to save the game. I was impressed and left my usual Defiant server and importunately crashed out at around 22.15 BST. Upon queuing to get back on i was 231 out of 260ish.

It just shows how much the game is loved by everyone. I have been on the game for many years and was gobsmacked when I heard the news. I know it is a game and there are many others, but the difference is the community and the varied ways to play the game. I have played other games like WOW but it has nowhere near the same kind of commitment from its players.

I am sure that all the VIP players would pay double each month to keep the game..... I know I would

THANK YOU to TonyV & Titan Network, to Paragon Studios and the devs who attending, but most especially to *you*, my fellow heroines and heroes who attended to make the Player Rally!  I was also really heartened (read: blown away) by CNN iReports http://ireport.cnn.com/docs/DOC-838027 and http://ireport.cnn.com/docs/DOC-837330?ref=feeds%2Flatest and particularly the support shown here:  http://www.dealspwn.com/neil-gaiman-john-wright-john-kovalic-mercedes-lackey-support-save-city-heroes-campaign-113562?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+Dealspwn+%28Dealspwn%29/trackback

THANK YOU one and all!   Despite thinking it will take 2-4 weeks minimum for things to get worked out, at minimum I'm hopeful that City of Heroes and Paragon Studios can continue as planned with issue 24 (and beyond) either with NCSoft or with another MMO publisher.

I really, really wish I could, since I missed the show of solidarity on Monday, but I won't make this one, either... unless it's still going at 8-9pm Eastern.

I hope an enormous amount of people do make it, though, and stand strong!

Well, there were 33 Atlas Parks on Virtue and a queue of... I recall one number being reported was 261. After that, the overflow was asked to head to Freedom and their overflow spilled over onto Infinity.

So I guess you can say that there was a turnout. ^.^

I have only had a chance to give a cursory read through on this thread in the last couple of days, thanks to the depth and breadth of valuable ideas and insights in all the myriad discussions on this board and others. And the links; oh, the links...

One thing that was an impediment to many of us was the wait time. I know that was sort of the idea, but some, like the troll (http://worldwizards.blogspot.co.uk/2012/09/city-of-children.html?m=1) misunderstood the rally as some form of denial of service attack. I know got in because people gave up. The total number waiting dropped faster than the number of people ahead of me.

If I may make a suggestion, since this movement (and there's no denying that it is) can obviously gather people: perhaps the next goal could be to turn all the servers yellow, or even red.  The chances of someone giving up and going to another server are reduced, and the affect is broader.  I know that more then half of the servers would be yellow every weekend as recently as the build up to the release of GR.  One argument that we just can't rebut is that that wasn't happening anymore.

I agree.  Creating heavy traffic sends a great message.

On an only slightly related note, people want more!  I've been on Virtue most of the morning and I've seen four or five people ask when the next event/rally is!  This is a good thing, but we need to make use of it!

OK, here's something that can be copied and pasted into the in-game chat.  Unfortunately, I'm not savvy enough to make it more recognizable as a link to the calendar (https://www.google.com/calendar/embed?src=o9p03krp81dmv3ardijljvifds@group.calendar.google.com).

Also, my impression is that anyone who actually represents the decision makers at NCSoft has about zero chance of seeing the actual rallies or server numbers, but the people across the table from them do, and the gaming press does.  They're the ones who can put the first wave of pressure on TPTB. I know it's been said numerous times, but we need to keep repeating it as these threads grow in numbers of pages.

Given that my monthly renews the 3rd of each month and the only bill to my Card was the Points puchase I made mere hours before the shutdown, and that I can still access ALL my charecters; It appears to me that what was implemented was a total freeze.  What you had as far as account status will remain that way until the lights are out or Tony succeeds and the new owners set up the new rules

This does not make me happy.  I'd love to jump on and run everything that I missed in the past year (Incarnate stuff included), as well as be able to post on the CoH forums, where I spent many a happy hour talking to people, debating changes, and just plain having fun.  Instead, I'm reduced to trolling this forum, which isn't bad, it's just not the same thing.

I'm hearing rumors (but have no way of confirming them) that retail codes are still working if applied through your PlayNC account.

If this is true, then theoretically a game time card should work.

from what i saw in the screenshot of that on the forums, they were trying to do an update on a much older version of the game

iirc they were trying to update an i20 version of the game to a current i23 version which is possibly why the error was coming up because they said when they did a repair it worked and was basically redownloading the entire game

Before you go to bed, join an AE arc.

Go to Pocket D.

Leave your toon there AFK.  Thanks to being on the AE arc, you will not get autobooted.  You might not be there "live" but unless your computer reboots your toon and account will be there to be counted.
