While the merits of Lee vs. Kirby is an interesting debate, it doesn't really have a lot to do with Ironwolf's posts regarding an attempt by someone to purchase game. Not that I'd object to such a thread in the Comics and Other Media Forum, but I don't really think this is the place for it.

So your saying if any post that does not have to do with Ironwolf and the efforts to get the city we ALL love and want back isnt worth posting here even if its keeping the community talking as wait and prey for good news.

I think he's saying if the thread got cluttered with huge derails people may stop reading it altogether, defeating Ironwulf's point of trying to keep us in the loop at all. It's not that something isn't "worth" posting here, it's regarding the topic at hand. The Spidey talk is hugely interesting and deserving of it's own thread, not taking anymore space from a -very- important news event we're all trying to watch.

Exactly. It IS an interesting conversation to be had, but there are other places it can be posted. Many people are watching this particular thread to hear news of the latest attempt to buy COH and/or diiscuss the ramifications of that.

I do think the Kirby/Lee thread would make for a fine thread on its own, and there's a whole forum dedicated to such things.

Yeah this thread has been way to derailed and it really shouldn't be.  We should be talking about things like what we'll do should these talks succeed and whatnot.

This couldn't be farther from the truth. As long as we all know there is SOME kind of effort happening, we won't stop checking in. In fact, there's a handy little feature that allows you to subscribe to a particular thread--which I did way way back when this thread was around 13 pages or so.

After 54+ pages and at least triple that amount of e-mails in my inbox notifying me of responses to this thread only to come here and read things not even remotely having to do with the discussion at hand....I'd say the topic derailment would be what would motivate people to stop checking--or at least unsubscribe from the discussion.

I agree.  "On topic" is best!  And thanks to Ironwolf once more for the updates.  Hope to see everybuggy in-game again some day!

Yeah, I admit I'm one of those who stopped checking as often recently because we were so out of topic that it was just not reaching me anymore. If it is ever democratic, I vote for "On Topic"

Nope. I check often. I answer questions if someone asks about things we already talked about or just join in if people discuss what we will/would do when we get the game back.

If you want to see what happens when you let the derail go for a while check out the "ok, now I need emulator..." thread. You will learn all about self driving cars on the last several pages, but nothing about emulators. I stopped checking it for that very reason.

I would vote for on topic. (if only one thread can stick to topic, let it be this one).

..I don't buy that "Lee didn't really do anything" myth.

I notice Kirby only managed to come up with one character people have heard of without Lee.   ...and Joe Simon helped with that one.   Frankly, Cap got far more interesting after Lee was in the room.

Speaking of...Funny how Lee was always in the room when special things happened at Marvel.   Supposedly it was always the other guy doing all the work according to Lee-bashers.  That seems far too coincidental.   Marvel didn't fall apart when Kirby left either.

Kirby certainly wasn't happy...but that wasn't about Marvel.  He always got upset and left the companies he worked for.  That's his M.O.   It would be out of character if he wasn't upset at Lee and Marvel!   8)

I have no inside information, but enough time has elapsed that I have to think that the initial meeting is Real Soon Now, or maybe has already happened.  Hopefully our side introduced themselves, who they represent, what precisely it is they are interested in, and why a deal is good for everyone.  Maybe they've even thrown in an initial pitch.  And NCSoft considers the offer and runs it past legal etc etc...  And maybe in a few weeks they'll present a counter proposal.  And then it will be our guys turn to look the offer over and consider it and run it past legal.

I'm purely speculating, but I'm thinking we're in a period of slow proposal and counter proposal.  Now if they'll just keep talking.

And I see while I've been speculating, Ironwolf made a real post.  :)  I don't think I've said it yet today, so Thank You, Ironwolf!  By tugging at threads you've got them talking again.  And the mere fact that is happening makes the soul glad.

Yeah I was wondering about that.  Take your time guys, and pace yourselves.  We could say perhaps that it's a good thing this thread gets the bumps it gets to give people hope.  I'm honestly playing classics like Marathon and doom while we wait myself.  Spent most of yesterday flooding the lawn for the week, even, enjoying the weather outside.  Now of course it's especially dusty :(.
