QuoteI also just found out a few minutes ago that an entity up in Portland wants some money that I thought was taken care of by another source. But that's not urgent unless they want to come down here to Texas to find me. (-:

Collections?  Tell em to get in line.  That's what I have always done :P

Thought that might be the word, but when I looked up usage for it, it seemed OK.

Then again, I used a google search with a phrase. Prolly not the smartest idea.

Just to let you guys know, I'm strongly considering getting an apartment here in town in the next couple of days, then finding a job within walking/biking distance. The rent down here is dirt cheap, and the quality of the apartments is astronomically high. There's a place not even a mile from my contact, and I'm thinking I'll hit them up today.

With the money I already had, the money TonyV sent me and the money all you guys donated (and the price this place is asking), I can already pay for like three or four months rent just with what's already available to me. This is looking like a VERY good option, and it's better than trying to surf couches or hammer out the details of getting a car in Texas (Eabrace told me about the inspections that they require).

I'll keep you guys updated with how exactly everything pans out. But I want you to know that it's looking like I'll have things taken care of, and it'll be taken care of because of how awesome you guys have been. (-:

We got your back, Jack. Glad to hear things are looking better!

Just curious, what's the going rate there that it seems cheap to you?

I've never had to pay rent (outside of the game  ;) ) and the NYC tenement that our family lived in for the first couple of decades was rent controlled, so my perception is a bit distorted.  All I know is that for a little more, I'd rather put the money into a mortgage to build equity.

While internet is naught compared to rent, don't forget food, or you'll soon be a macabre decoration in this somptuous apartment of yours.

I'm looking at $590/mo for 600 square feet. For my last apartment, in Lakewood, Washington, I paid $750/mo for a smaller unit and I was only paying for half.

However, the place is still occupied for two weeks. Howeverever, there are some similarly inexpensive extended-stay places right around here where I can stay by the week, which will definitely do the trick for putting my body somewhere. All made possible by the generous donations of viewers like you!

Yeah. Property is way cheaper here in the south compared to the coasts. Same money for a 2 bedroom ranch style in cali buys you a friggin' faux mansion in the south.

Quick update here... I've got a U-Haul cargo van for three weeks, and I checked into a Studio 6 for a week. I have received all of your awesome donation money too!

But I still need a place to live. And a thing to drive. And preferably, a job to work at. But fortunately, I have some time to get on those things. It's no longer a matter of getting by day to day.

Still! If anyone should happen across a potential opportunity, lemme know.

I know someone that's heading to the mainland shortly that I could ask.  Unfortunately, they are actually heading to Oregon.

I saw a post at Woot!.com regarding their recruitment page and I see that they have some positions in Dallas, including for a SQL DBA Developer.  Is that something you can pass that time with?

Weren't the NCSoft US reviews on the glass site I don't remember its name (about giving reviews of your job) weren't so good, so I wouldn't wish anybody inside the demon's lair. Though a mole would be very useful indeed.
