Just to let you know we got 5,000 Signatures in 10:00 hours on the first day after we learned the news.

That's a good figure, but is also shows a decline in momentum, which is not what we should be putting across - it undercuts the positive "almost/over 10 thousand signatures in under/just 4 days" part - the 5,000 in 10 hours can be reported as "at one stage the petition was receiving almost 10 signatues a minute", which is true.
So we can report a totally factual "a player signed petition has gathered almost/over 10 thousand signatures in under/just 4 days, and at once stage was receiving almost 10 signatures a minute" - the feeling of positive momentum and gathering speed is kept, along with the truth.

It's Sunday on Labor Day Weekend - news sites are only really going to get back to life on Tuesday.
I'd suggest levaing a few messages for various sites now and on Monday, so they see a backlog in their inbox about the subject, then reinforce the ongoing concern of the player base by sending further messages during Tuesday, to let them know it's still an active story, and not just a blip that they missed during the weekend.

But the writers of "The Big Bang Theory" use COH teeshirts and banners in the backgrounds of their show....

Someone on that shows writing / props team is a fellow COH player....

Someone find a way to get them involved maybe?

There is lots and lots of CoH stuff used in that show.  Many of the clips taking place in the apartment from the 1st and 2nd season on cbs.com have the bookcases with City of Heroes game boxes in the background.  Plus the Captain Sweatpants, the CoV stand-up in the comic book store, they mention CoH in one episode, etc.

A long-time vet of the game, I played from August 2004 to late 2009, when circumstances(and relocating to New Zealand for 2 years...looooong story!) forced me out...but I've always kept up with CoH's progress....

So the recent news was more than a gut punch...I'd say it was like getting put through a table...that was wrapped with barbed wire...and that was on fire.... 

Already putting the word out to some of my friends on Facebook...we'll think of something!

I hope to GOD that the rumor is REAL!

At first, it seems a little weird - SOE already has a superhero MMO - why not just let NCSoft shut it down and reduce the spandex MMO amrket to just 2 titles?
But then, when you consider than DCUO is an action based console beat-'em-up with a poorly done PC port, and CoH is a classic PC-only MMO, then it could be a move to cover every area of the superhero MMO market.

Also, with EQ 1 and 2 both still going, and SWG shut down only becasue LucasArts decided not to renew the license, there might even be the possibility of greater security in the SOE stable than the NCSoft one.

Plus, the Station Pass raises some interesting revenue and player increase possibilities.

Not to rain on anyone's parade and please forgive my impatience, but if these new SOE rumors are just that, do we have a plan to get in touch with someone at NCSoft and feel out their willingness to sell the IP? I feel like almost our entire effort hinges on the outcome of that discussion.

Or, to be a pessimist, they're worried that somebody else might buy it and see this as an opportunity to snag the IP and make sure it stays locked up -- eliminating their biggest competitor in that market.

I don't speak it myself...but...there are a number of churches around who have sizable Korean followings...I'm not a religious person, but if necessary, I suppose I could try contacting them....

That would be helpful!  I'm already in contact with one fluent speaker of the language, and he has been immensely helpful.  I really could use at least one or two more, just to make sure that he doesn't miss something.

I'm not sure that this has been mentioned, but social media moves mountains in this day and age. I would suggest having Save City of Heroes hashtag for twitter and try to get it trending. If, and this is a big if, it's possible to get it trending for more than one day straight, that could possibly alert mainstream media. As far as I know the only media it's hit is gaming media. If it hits mainstream media it could generate enough buzz that NC Soft can't ignore.
