I re did my two bases with a free software (30 day trial) Corel studio. I have not played them back yet but it might an alternative

You can also make a stop-motion version, starting and stopping a demo each time a piece is added or moved?

{though it would probably be better to have one person building and the other recording}

I found a great, free video capture program. It also comes with a file converter and video editor. I'm still playing around with it, recording footage of my base. There's quite a few bells and whistles for a free program. Seems like a good one to share...
