Is it time to take CoX off life support? These "New Efforts!" are now over 2 years old - haven't we suffered enough waiting for the return? I would think that 1,169 pages of replies to this thread would attest that nothing is happening - heck, it's been 18 months since the masks came off, and still nothing.

I'm crying inside. Some random person on the interwebs tells me the dream is dead. Game over man! We don't need to go home, but we can't stay on these forums. Out of curiosity why are you still here if you believe in that? Do you need your opinions validated that much to feel like you exist?

We really should have enough data to plot these out into some kind a predictive model by now. If only there were some way to get that data that didn't involve either directly going through and plotting by hand or writing a program with an algorithm sophisticated enough to recognize all the different varieties of the same post. Then there's the question of whether predicting when d00m posts are likely to occur would be worth the trouble, especially given that the existence of the predictive model would itself create more of the posts because people would want to troll the predictions. Even given that it might be interesting just to see the shape of the curve of the previous appearances.

I don't think it's unreasonable to think the negotiations are dead. I like to think they're not, but what we like to think and reality aren't always the same thing. I can see people a year and a half from now still saying "these things can take a while". At what point do we just accept that's it's probably not going to happen? Be realistic, is it really too much to ask to have a deal like this done by now? I don't think so. Entire neighborhoods are built in this amount time.

Unfortunately all we can do is wait. People can be all doom and gloom if they want, but it's not  like THeM is going to hop in and be like "don't worry guys, we're almost done! Don't give up hope yet.". So we just sit and wait. We have to assume that THeM is smart enough to know when they're getting played and just being strung along. I doubt they would waste their time and outs without reasonable hope.

Also witnessed a Defender Dark/Dark full team that was pretty impressive (You can't hit me  :P)

I was on an all-Kin ITF that Kay ran, and it was like having a team of angry bees on crack from all the buffs, with Speed Boosts and Fulcrum Shifts. Well, except for Lag Beach, but everyone slows down there.

I have reached a point in this where I have little hope that this is going to work out, tempered with a bit of optimism. Until they explicitly say "deal's dead, let's pack it up," I will continue to check - even if only sparingly - to see if there's any news/to read whatever amusing shenanigans are happening on this thread. I will hold on to that hope that something could happen at any time, and if the game returns, then count me all in.

But in the mean time, I'm starting to move on. I'm watching CoT and VO with increasing interest every day, especially in light of recent developments with CoT (still read that as Circle of Thorns sometimes). I miss CoX a lot, and the pain of the loss is still very fresh to me, but these projects give me a lot of hope because they're labors of love, brought about because the dev teams are all people that lost something valuable to them.

Fine, let's say hypothetically speaking I concur.  How do you suppose to do that, exactly?  Shall we shut down the Titan forums?  Ban discussion of City of Heroes?  Will we go from house to house and murder hope in their sleep like a reverse-Santa?

The only thing you can really do is decide for yourself.  You can put it out of your misery.  But you can't decide for anyone else, and if your purpose is not to upset anyone else, what exactly is the purpose in telling people they should give up on something they are hopeful for?

Bingo, Even though it has been 2 years does not matter. I think that if Nate and the rest of the team would want to talk about how the deal is progressing they would. However, I understand that do not want to due to the NDA. As much as I want to myself, I have to remember if there is news either way we would know, and that is enough for me to think one day we will playing again.
Mageman, I understand a bit where you are coming from, but you need to know that the deal does not work on a perceived notion of time, the team knows they have to work on Nc Softs time not the teams. I agree With Arcana that you might call City of. dead, but you can only speak for yourself. And to counter your agreement that City of. is dead you forget that Wolf and Nate said they will try again.
And if you think this deal is dead, you do not know if they ware working on a new deal. Just this one will be quitter.

I understand the people that have given up. I know it wont happen, but I would like to know if maybe the deal is done but the tech problems in bringing it back are just taking a long time. forming a team, getting the hardware, facilities, software etc. writing the code that will/would be necessary to do the job. testing and fixing bugs.
I figure if/when it happens, we will get a message that the servers will be up on __ of _____ 201_ at 1:pm and to go to Iwishitwashere.com to register your account and make payment arrangements. I have wondered if the problem isnt with ncsoft but maybe technical. might never find out but hopefully we will here soon. I have a bunch of friends that would play and pay from day 1.

You might think that a phenomenon that flipped his organs would also flip his chirality. Of course if that had happened it would've been a much shorter book.

Roger Zelazny referred to this problem in his novel Doorways in the Sand, where the main character puts himself through an alien machine that performs a mirror inversion on his body, leaving him stuck nutritionally because it inverted his chirality as well.

Well, the problem with wireless electricity on the scale you're talking about is that there's no real way to do that efficiently, so even if Tesla was king of the planet that wouldn't have happened.

As I recall, what shot down broadcast power when Tesla presented the concept to Westinghouse was Tesla admitting that there would be no way to determine how much power an individual used and bill them for it. With a fully-connected world, having 'black box' broadcast power units that drew power and fed the power usage, location, and (for mobile devices) ownership information into the Net would address that problem (ownership information for mobile devices so that the owner gets charged for power their device uses, rather than the owner of the location they're at).

It took Joel Hodgeson five whole years of negotiations to buy the rights to MST3K back.   Two years isn't even a start.

If you're suffering, then go.  Don't try to make everyone go with you.

I still have hope for this situation. I'm not giving up hope just yet. I still believe the team will pull it off. Ok....think of Captain America: Civil War. Captain America where's red,white, and blue and a star the same colors as Statesman that represents City of Heroes. Like Captain America said: "Keep fighting the good fight and never give up." I'm going to let Captain America represent City of Heroes [for now] and let Iron Man represent NCsoft. City of Heroes is fighting the I.P. rights against NCsoft. Since the movie is focusing on Captain America more I think he might win the war. I hope this will make everyone feel better and I hope everyone understands what I'm trying make a point too.
