On a more serious note, could someone tell my dense self if I have this straight in my head? If the IP isn't sold, CoT is CoT. If it is, then CoH gets migrated to the Unreal 4 engine and becomes CoH 1.5, at which time CoT becomes CoH 2? Does any of this sound like the plan or should I put my helmet back on and finish my coloring? You folks code software and have scientific discussions and debates. I tried to swat a fly with a tennis racket. Speak slowly and use small words.

CoT will stay CoT whatever happens with the CoH IP, IIRC the plan was not to license the IP for use in CoT, but maybe to license a few behind the scenes bits like sounds.

Aren't most if not all of CoH's sounds stock sound effects?  Several are reused in Champions Online, and IIRC Radiation Blast had so many stock sound effects that it sounded like a Filmation cartoon.

Never really liked the sound effects of CoX. I always played the game on mute while listening to music or being on vent. I think what turned me off the sound was ice slick/ice patch sounding exactly the same as buckshot or the "wobbly" sound Psi attacks made

I actually liked the 'campy' sound effects. It gave it a more fun feel as opposed to the games today that take themselves too seriously. I'm playing DCUO right now because the thought of playing another fantasy MMO brings bile up my esophagus and as bad as it is it still takes itself far too seriously for what it is.

Only that the parties involved are under an NDA and that we're unlikely to hear anything until the deal either goes through or falls apart. Also, deals like this can take years to finish, especially since the current NCsoft/Nexon fight for control has disrupted things a bit at NCsoft. At this point no news means the deal is still being worked out and hasn't concluded one way or the other.
Patience or playing around with Paragon Chat/Icon are currently the two main CoH options.

Nothing whatsoever since Christmastime.  Don't you think you'd see something in the mainstream MMO gaming press if not a separate announcement post here if there was?

I hope Nexon actually has a successful takeover of NCSoft. They would probably sell off the rights to CoX for a quick buck. Nexon gets what they want (NCSoft), we get what we want (CoX back), and the people at NCSoft lose their jobs (since they are the ones who shut down CoX in the first place). This is a win-win-win scenario!

I disagree. Nexon's action seems to be more punitive and anger driven than profit motivated. They seem have a beef with the management at NCSoft rather than trying to squeeze out a buck.

We as players could loose big.

I dont see the takeover attempt as going anywhere. NCSOFT will have to wake up and get moving with business if they expect to do well
