A. City of Titans is designing their costume creator. Atlas Park Revival will be using the CoT costume creator, tweaked so that it has the City [EDIT: City of Heroes] costumes available (probably not the CoT items, though).
B. There are plenty of asymmetric costume pieces in City. The only thing is it has to be a single selection item in the UI. The only reason there isn't options to choose "I want this on my left side and this on my right side" is simply because of the UI. Changing the UI and adding more parts is theoretically possible (if we had the source). It's definitely possible with CoT/APR being built from the ground-up.

A: Indeed. "Both games" does refer to City of Titans, and Revival.
B: A good deal of the CoH costume pieces are single, asymmetrical pieces in the .geo files. So there's separate left and right hand meshes. So depending on how the skeletal system in CoH worked (An area I honestly have little knowledge, I've never needed to know much about it...So I never learned.) those pieces could theoretically be available asymmetrically. However, there is also a large number of costume items that are not separate meshes. The Enforcer set for example. Both boots are a single mesh, both hands a single mesh. These meshes would need to be re-imported.

As for CoT I don't remember if I've heard one way or the other on Asymmetry in the character meshes...
Either way, It'll likely be a thing in Revival.

i'd love asymetrical costume parts, that would be awesome !
It's just a matter of making more anchor points.  CoH was pretty tapped out on the number of anchor points on its characters, so they - for example - couldn't easily split the "legs" anchor into separate "left leg" and "right leg" points.

CoH had several asymmetrical costume parts, but most of them were hard-coded that way.  For example, the Gladiator shoulder piece was asymmetrical, but you couldn't put one shoulder piece on one side and a different shoulder piece on the other. (I only say "most" because Robotic Arm 3 let you make mismatching arms, but the robotic arm had very few options compared to the non-robotic arm)

Bringing CoX up to unreal engine 3 or 4 would also mean many meshes in general would need to be re-implemented though.  There is a sharp increase on model quality between the 2002-5 era graphics and even 2008 graphics and CoH's graphics were close to unreal tournament 2004(though not quite there).  And that plan is UE4, thats definently going to be tricky.  I'd say though it's doable, but time would have to tell.

I'd love to see a UE4 engine rendering o the organic armor costume set though :).
Currently; Not doing any streaming, found myself with less time available recently.  Still playing starbound periodically, though I am thinking of trying other games.  Don't tell me to play mmohtg's though please :).  Getting back into participating in VO and the successors again to.

Irish has already said that's what APR will be doing. APR has their own website now (see Irish's sig).

Ahhh, you'll have to forgive me then my eyes are not always the most perceptive when it comes to peoples signatures :).  Thanks for pointing that out, taking a closer look now.

Huh? This is the first I've heard of that.

Me too. So is he trying to get CoT's costume designer to be able to be ported in to CoH, or vice versa? Because if a modern game is held to the limitations I assume were in place due to technology back when CoH was made, that's a poor choice. I'm pretty sure someone on these forums said that the inability to use asymmetric costume pieces (Like Champions Online) was hard coded in to CoH, and something like that is just going backwards.

What I said was that the CoH body frame had a certain number of bits that could be attached, and to the best of my knowledge they were almost out of places that you could stick parts. Somewhere in the high 20's with the number of nodes available, and like 2-4 left.

In order to do asymmetrical costume options you would go from gloves-shoulder-legs to R Glove/L Glove, R Shoulder/L Shoulder, R Leg/L Leg, which might be more nodes than the frame has available.

Either that or it had to be asymmetrical to begin with, like the gladiator pads, or the pirate hook gloves.

I am amazed at my complete lack of tech knowledge when you all start your ramblings (and when I say ramblings, I mean that with the utmost respect).  I read everything you all write in the hope of picking something up but, most of the time, I am completely clueless.  I kind of picture myself as Bill Murray's character in the old SNL skit about the foreign-run diner in New York.  I envision you all explaining this to me, the whole time I'm nodding in agreement, and when you finish, I look you square in the eye and say "cheeseburger".

What I do know is that it's very comforting to see that there are so many people here who miss this game as much as I do.

For me it's just the not knowing aspect. Will it or won't it happen?  Trying not to get excited but still getting excited anyways. Fully realizing that all this could be for nothing. All the forum posts, sharing of memories about the game, talking about builds and power sets and what the first thing you're going to do is when the lights come back on. The fact that all it takes is a "no" from some unseen person and this is all gone, it's hard to handle the feeling of balancing on the edge of a cliff every day.

If the game takes a year before it's back, that's fine. I just want NCSoft to tell us either way so that we can really settle into the excitement, or let it go and focus on one of the new IPs

^^^ This. I can wait, once I know all systems are go. Its the not-knowing getting to me.

I understand completely why we don't know anything yet, its just so hard to be in limbo. I have this same problem in real life, I simply cannot stand uncertainty. Trying to keep reminding myself that even if this falls through, we will still have CoT.

I really expected to be ToTing right now, *Sigh* it was a good dream!
We're almost there!  ;D

The RNG hates me.

Yup ToT was a fun event.  :'(
It takes a village to raise a child. And it takes a villain to explain the value of lunch money.

In regards to ToTing, Ironwolf or who ever is in charge when the game returns to a server in self-run mode can we please with an extra please have one event per month till all the Holiday events missed are caught up? (starting with the first missed event)

Also Thanks with an extra thanks!
There is always another way. But it might not work exactly like you may desire.

A wise old rabbit once told me "Never give-up!, Trust your instincts!" granted the advice at the time led me on a tripped-out voyage out of an asteroid belt, but hey it was more impressive than a bunch of rocks and space monkies.

The only one I would really want would be the Summer Blockbuster Double Feature. The IO set from that was just so useful for so many different things.

I was hoping in years to come they would add new movies to randomly play like an Arachnos Musical , a Western Shootout and other film categories....

That would have been awesome duane!

We did try to warn you.   :)  And it might be a good while longer before we hear anything concrete, if at all.  It's fun to hope, as long as you temper it with realism, that's my motto.

Yes, please!

Speaking of holiday events, I'm still waiting for someone at CoH to institute winter-event elf invasions (possibly using the Red Caps as a model).

My only complaint about the Halloween event was the Jack spawn ratio of 10% after beating Eochai.  Sometimes we would have to crush that giant pumpkin 30 times before Jack would emerge
