I made two joke versions of Superman. The first I made as fat as I could get him, and named him Supperman.

The second was based on the scene, in the first Christopher Reeve "Superman" movie, where Lois was interviewing him. At the end of the interview, she watches him fly away, and says, "What a super man", which (if I recall) was where he got the name in that film. I moved the scene to southern California, where she watched him fly away, and said, "What a gnarly dude." So I named him Gnarlydude.

I had my ss/inv chicken man tank, back alley broiler

So my challenge is what you (I know we all have one) created as a fun joke, whether in looks or story (from some of these posts we have a few clever individuals) or anything. I look forward to giggling silently to anyone who replies...
I made a chicken themed toon with some friends - we wanted to be silly for a change. :)  I named him:  The Chicken Lich (Necro MM)

I had my BS/fire scrapper. A robot designed to be the ultimate cooking show competitor.  But when he started to actually combat his cooking opponents they lent him out to the Paragon Police.  He was The Iron Giant Chef!

simply don't ask about news. Ironwolf will provide news as it comes in. He can't give you news if there's no news to give, and you shouldn't expect him to. He's not a machine you put quarters in and he spits out an update. Keep an eye on the first post. If there's news, it's there.

He's not? Aww....

At first, I wondered about the buying company, that a test was required of them to prove competence. Was this some small company with very little prior output, who had to prove themselves in the big times?

Then my son (clever guy) pointed out that there were many first-rate companies with hit products in the marketplace, which have yet to produce a MMO! Has Bungie ever produced an Indy 500 race game, for example? Has Blizzard?

So we could be talking a major player here, but one that still hasn't produced one element of what it takes to something like CoX...a prior MMO, a first-rate forums site, or perhaps a profitable non-subscription game. Fingers crossed...

Eeewww. At least buy the man dinner before you do that!

I created an elec/elec tank that vaguely resembled that mark 1 iron man suit, named Static Clang :)
We shall see what we shall see, when there is actually something to see.

Lucretia MacEvil

"Justin Time" a chronically late scatterbrained inventor who was determined to at least go back to when/where he was supposed to be. (grav/time controller.  never got very far before shutdown)

Tubbius

If we're talking humorously intended characters. . . .

I had a fire blaster wearing what was a truly pathetic attempt at my one "super" costume since most of my heroes were dressed in street clothes.  He took his name from what he did: Barry Burns.

There's the many-times-mentioned Waddle the Penguin, of the "PENGUIN" arcs, who was a mutated penguin given healing and ice control powers.  He had an insatiable desire to be a hero in order to please his "Poppa," the Crey Biotech R&D scientist who raised him and tried turning him into a weapon.  Although Waddle was designed to take down the Winter Horde that were attacking Crey in the first arc (leading to his initial battle cry of "Waddle hate snowmans!"),  Waddle's nemesis was FISHIE, an equally mutated goldfish whose genetics were spliced with pro-wrestler DNA.  "Waddle hate FISHIE."

How about the Verbally Integrated Beam Radiation Armor Technology Experiment: VIBRATE?  This was a sonic/sonic defender that my girlfriend eventually took over when I abandoned, turning this robotic him into a robotic her and giving her a continuation of a new backstory.  I eventually made VIBRATE 2.0 in response to that, remaking my VIBRATE as an electric/sonic character whose electricity powers were explained as malfunctions in the new prototype.

Then there's the Soviet-era-themed duo from my "Hammer and Sickle of Paragon City" arc: American Hammer and New York Sickle.  I started, actually, with her name--the pun of the two, as New York Sickle--and went from there to create the two toons.

Lastly, there's an NPC from my arc "This Costume Contest Sponsored by Tubbius." This NPC never got much of a backstory, but he was a fat, mutant chicken with boxing gloves: Capon, the Kung Fu Chicken.

I've created so many joke chars over the years.
I created Underdog before we had any animal faces. Mostly in response to a rash of superman rip-offs that were running around that week. Battle Cry: "There's no need to fear!"
I made a Mr. T Warshade because the chain around the neck look had just been introduced in the game. And yes, his Battle cry was "I pity de foo!"
I had a man they called Jayne complete with his theme song in my description. Also one I called Capn Tightpants.

Those were a few of the joke ones I can remember.

Then there were many "homage" chars (close enough that you know who it is and far enough away no one could say anything) for Dr. Fate, Vision, Antman, Wasp, Moon Knight, Shaman (Alpha Flight), Professor X (Now with usable legs) and the list goes on. Most of them didn't last very long.

I even created a bunch of blasters. What a joke... er, ummm... :)
Cogito, Ergo... eh?

AnElfCalledMack

I had a Kheldian called Australia Fair. Made her for a costume contest. She wore a modified cricket umpire's uniform (white, for those who don't care about cricket) with stars on the back. She had the zinc cream under her eyes and everything. Got an honorable mention.

... VIBRATE 2.0

That's hilarious.

If you had a space instead of a decimal they would have changed your name to generichero213535.
Cogito, Ergo... eh?

Samuraiko

The character name that I'm still amazed never got generic'd was my mind/ff controller, the walking Pauli Effect of Paragon City...

Cluster Flux.

Other fun ones I miss were my mind/fire blaster (Psychic Hotline), my earth/plant dominator (Marquis de Sod), my Time/Bots mastermind (Technonomicron)...

This just reminds me that if we get the game back but not our chars I've got to make several name holder characters really fast.

To tell new players that they will never be able to achieve something that old players have is a counter productive action in my eyes (anniversary badges).

Yeah, I gotta agree with this. I was pretty rabid about badging at the start. But once I realized that not even Ouro would let me get those anniversary badges I missed, I just kinda gave up on it. It really took the wind out of my sails. I mean, things like the skiing and pvp badges... it was my choice if I didn't want to try harder for those. But just to be completely locked out of it, because you started playing too late or you had a busy month? Not cool. Not cool at all.

I always felt that there should be two versions of event-related badges - a fancy one for people who earned it the "real" way, and a plain one for folks who got it later. Like anniversary badges could have big flashy artwork for people who were actually there at the time, and a simple design for getting it through, say, a thematic flashback mission in Ouro. Plus an appropriate description for each. That still gives bragging rights to those who get it "the right way", but doesn't completely lock out folks who happened to have RL aggro that month and couldn't manage to log in.

Had a Scrapper with an Irish looking motif named Paddie O'Furniture.  I also had a Blaster done up in the atypical Borg costume named Ernest Borg9.
If I was a Jedi, there's a 100% chance that I'd use The Force inappropriately.

I like that idea A LOT. Perhaps get greyed out ones for people who obtain it that way via Ouro. I can see it now, a trial that takes you back each year as you hit milestones. Perhaps have heroes that have died in game as contacts, and break out the old Rikti costumes and other retired or retired time specific content. The end zone would be the game in alpha with a "Bug Hunter" badge or two, and then give a new badge for everyone for completing the trial at the end. "Just an idea", or something like that.

A number of years later I think I saw a superhero game pop up by that name.

I made a Gundam  Clone named Shining Fingers that never got generic

Ironwolf

Foghorn Leghorn a giant Chicken. I had over 30 of his insults on binds.
