Personally - I think Ironwolf would be a Freakshow.

Just saying.................

Man, one of the cool costume changes I got from comic-con was a Freakshow one... I LOVED that thing!

Side note... I was really hoping there would be an announcement for my b-day... :/

Ah, well.... Still hopeful! :P

I call my years levels, and I always complain when it's uneven years because I don't get new powers. ^_^ Only five more levels until I go OP though!

As for whe nthe game returns, should all acounts have all existing powersets and costume sets, with any subsequent costume/powerset releases be purchases? also what about players who had full sets like the roman sets or had VIP costume pieces or DVD edition capes and things like that? will they get those back? How would we manage that sort of thing? seeing as how some people earned those more exclusive items, i dont think everyone should get them. my accoutn had all powersets other than Nature affinity and all costume sets except for those weird club costume pieces (the striped hair and the shiny dress shirt and jeans, whatever they were.)

Better add another blade or two.  With gigabit fiber optic on each.  :)

I would hope they be putting in the 10GB fiber connection back to 10GB ports on back end be it HP, Nexus or what ever networking equipment they are use. Just saying I wonder which San vendor they will use (and yes that is the fun stuff to play with)

I'd bought the super packs, gotten VIP sets, got the DVD edition capes et al...and I would have absolutely 0 problem with them being made available to everyone.  In game unlocks?  Yeah, leave those gated.  But unlocks for things that were already purchased and/or aren't available any more?  Unlock 'em for everyone.  CoH returning is as much hype monster for CoH 2 as it is getting our game back, functionally.  Draw in as many as you can with what you COULD do, and then let them be wowed with what you WILL do.

All depends on if they get our account data or not.  I had pretty much everything, all vet rewards, all costume pieces, powersets, the lot.  Without account data, there's no way they can tell what I had though, so if they don't get that, we'll either all start with nothing, or all start with everything.

This, PLUS - supporting so many PLAY modes:

-RP mode
-hard mode (take on big challenges without being all IO'ed out)
-god mode (take on newspaper and radio mishes, all IO'ed out)
-social mode (play with friends and guildies)
-design mode (pursue minimax perfect builds)
-architect mode (designs missions for others to play)

Etc...

CoX was the only to really do this!

RPing especially. The strength of the RP community immensely bolstered the immersion of the game world and made the user-base become closely knit.

I have a strange feeling that you're the Sindyr I knew from Virtue that ran the Carpe Diem SG, if not, disregard that. At any rate, around 2009, that was the supergroup that I had the best RPing with ever. It was the highest of highs, the pinnacle of it for me and it was mostly downhill after that. For about a year afterward, all my friends disappeared from the game and from then on to the shutdown, I tried to join others to recapture that same magic but it never came along again. Those groups would either fold or a segment of the members would go against the concept of the SG so hard that it ended up changing the whole theme of it. Rarely do you find individuals that you can easily click with.

Too many people participating in roleplaying didn't really understand that it's a "give and take" performance. In the Professional Wrestling business, there's a term known as putting another guy "over," meaning you make him look good by succumbing to his verbal assault or making his offensive maneuvers look more devastating to you so the crowd will "pop" for him. I rarely centered on myself as Luna unless it was centric to the topic we were working with. I spend more time putting over the other people involved because it would get them more invested in what they were doing and justify their character ideas they were trying to present. If they're into it, I'm into it and I have more to work with.

I would be perfectly ok with all the special items that came with certain packs, VIP perks and or special edition items being available to everyone out of the gate.  If the accounts aren't salvageable.  In fact, I think that's the only reasonable/fair solution to that.  :)  For the record, I had most of those things already through my own purchases.
Reminder: No game = No data, no characters...nothing.  However, no data/characters != No game.

A solution is to first /demorecord and then record a video using that demo - which you can do on any machine with CoH on it. :)
We were heroes. We were villains. At the end of the world we all fought as one. It's what we did that defines us.
The end occurred pretty much as we predicted: all servers redlining until midnight... and then no servers to go around.

If accounts aren't recoverable, I see three main options.

1.  Everyone gets everything
2.  Everyone gets nothing
3.  Everyone gets something, but the same something

At least that way, we'd all start on an even footing.

I agree. Thanks you Dev7on for bringing this idea up. If the City is sold, I'll try one of NCSoft's newer games and wait until the City becomes operational again.

You're welcome.  ;)

So...  Here I go...

I usually just lurk and read posts.  On any forum.  Occasionally I will get involved with a funny thread here and there.  But it is not often.  I try to keep my posts lighthearted, as I do not want to rub anyone the wrong way, ruffle feathers, etc.

As for this thread....

I am cautiously optimistic that the deal will go through.  If I have to re-create every character, so be it.  If they come back pretty close to what they were, then so be it.

I just want to play CoX again.  I have refused to remove anything dealing with CoX from my system.  The folder is still there.  I do not play any other NCSoft games.  A little of it is by choice, as some of their games do not appeal to me.  Others because I cannot afford to get them.  Such is life.

I was pretty sore at NCSoft at first, but I have moved on.  I get that it was a business decision.  I will play what ever they re-release if/when the deal goes through.  I wrote one letter to NCSoft when there were the campaigns going on before the shutdown.  Just one.  It was not threatening, it was not spiteful, just a simple explanation of what the community means to me.

I hope this deal goes through.  I would love to see our characters still there, but if not, I have 3 I will create right away.

The Fifth Horseman

Remember we still don't know what business model they will use - F2P or subscription.
If it is the former, then "all the parts, for everyone" is not an option - it's business, not charity, and the game has to at least cut even. They need to get good will from the community, but they can't bankrupt themselves to do that.
Granting all parts to subscribers could work, but I don't think the mechanics are there to handle that. Putting them all in cash shop would definitely work, however.
Either way, it would be good to see former special edition - only items added to the store to make them available to the returning players.

I think this sums up my general attitude pretty well. I'll subscribe to one of their games as a thank you if the deal goes through.

CoH will be coming back from the dead.  It has loads of people who want it back.  Loads of people who won't know it's coming back.  A sizeable amount who wanted to give it a try after it got canned but couldn't.  And a huge amount of MMO players that can be poached from other MMOs.

So?

As posted above.

Appeasement of core base + incentive for new players.

1. Charge for the virtual box of Issue 24.  Worth paying £15 for at least.
2. Give the installed base and new players...'everything.'  All previous powers, vet sets, costumes etc.
3. Half sub (CoH cheap enough to be everyone's '2nd' MMO...) at £6.00 a month.  (It's got to be worth that?)

All 3 are compelling and give loads of content for old and new players.

1.  You get the best CoH ever...with loads of new stuff, powers, costumes and refinements.
2.  A grab bag of value incentives for old players to come back...even if old game data is not available...at least the vet perks would be some appeasement.
3.  You make CoH affordable enough for everything to say it's only £5-6 pounds for the best MMO ever.  (Mitigates the problem of awol dev' tools for a store front.)  Sub-only.

Azrael.
