I don't know if this has been posted but there was assets in place for an Issue 28 with a moonbase? On top of that Matt Miller KNEW the game might close and didn't tell his employees or the fans? REALLY? kind of agitating.

Everfreefire

What good would it be to tell people the game might close? I'm honestly curious as to how it would have helped in any way.

There's NO way he was authorized to tell the fans.  No way.

And as for his coworkers?  The reason no one was told, from the way I understand it, was because they were fully under the impression that the buyout plan would go through, so when it didn't everyone had to pack up.

I've heard all sorts of tales as to what happened... I even had one person tell me that Posi scuppered the deal himself (which I don't believe for a second).

Unless the people involved decide to come forward and tell us what happened, I don't think we'll ever really know for sure.

Nope, sorry but you're wrong. I actually checked this WITH the devs to make sure of that.  The colours chosen were purely arbitrary and had nothing to do with them as a race.

I was also the one who got the Khelds method of interstellar travel out of the devs too (and spent ages laughing at the sillyness of it).

The mass shift to launch and keep going? Hey, Undying Light owes you one when she makes it back to Earth then...

The video linked to just above is probably the closest we'll get to seeing an inside view of the goings on, and obviously folks can misinterpret that too and use it as "evidence" for their theories and messages of woo.

There was though.  Unlike fire, or electricity, or anything else that has a real life analogue, Kheldian powers were entirely invented by CoH and the Devs.  The mere fact that the powers were given the colors they were WAS the lore on the issue.

So, the lore did contradict your IC rationale, because, in the lore they were Kheldian colored (also Kheldian powers did appear in the CoH comics).

Also, the Kheld stuff in those comics is not generally considered canon.

The only reason it wasn't done was purely technical.  From what I was told, to add power customisation to the Epic AT's would have required a fair bit of UI work and there just wasn't enough people playing them to justify the significant extra work at the time.  It was one of those things put on the back burner for if they ever got chance.  I understood that reasoning, but one can understand something and still not be very happy about it.

Crap, there was a Kheldian discussion while I was asleep?!? NO FAIR!!!

For the record, I was in a pretty in-depth discussion on Kheldian lore and coloring on the old forums back in the day, so I've actually already got my input on that, if you care to read:

To be fair, with how fast this moves, I am pretty sure we could start whole religions while someone is asleep.

*thinks for a moment*

I just realized...Ironwolf isn't becoming a villain...He's either becoming a God or is a messenger of the gods.    :P

Can not a god also be a villain?  (See Also: Rularuu, Hequat, Mot, etc.)

Also also, I think you are jumping the gun a bit here.  We have to see this whole thing come through first before I start doing any kinda worship... and even then, I can't see myself as a believer of the First Church of CoH Resurrection whose chief messiah is the venerable Ironwolf.

I did.  Your logic seems similar to FFM's.  I still stand by what I said upthread.  Both the original opinion, and on the changing my mind about it part, in that order.

Sure, a God can be a villain.

Also, to be fair, in a sense, there already is a religion, with people pulling false prophets and misreading the information we are given. I may be jumping the gun a bit, but that doesn't mean it's not happening in some way.    :P

Wow.  Why am I up at 4 a.m.?

Oh, yeah.  I was playing Marvel Heroes since I cannot play City of Heroes.

Here's hoping for gorgeous, beautiful, wonderful progress on getting City back!

And I'm jealous.  I want a fun title, too.  :(

Looks like you got it.   ;)

The mass shift to launch and keep going? Hey, Undying Light owes you one when she makes it back to Earth then...

That's the one! The mass shift itself wasn't a problem.  In fact, it made sense to me that shifting to a form with mass when at lightspeed could tear open a wormhole.  Doing that by changing to dwarf form though, was silly, unless Kheldians evolved in the same star system as the Ruktur and Kurukt life forms.

Another problem with that is how did they direct the wormhole?  One could argue that range is determined by the amount of mass shift, but that would mean always the same distance covered in the jump if limited to dwarf form; what about direction though?

See... I think about this stuff! It's just not good enough to me that the devs didn't fill these holes! :p  In fact, I never believed for a second that there was Kheldian story bible, because of the massive holes in their backstory and the rather curious refusal to ever expand on it.  And don't get me started about that bleedin' Twilight's Son being the last of them! Not possible with a space faring species!

Cool, a fellow Kheldian fan! Far too few of us!  Only reason I ever levelled my blaster to 50 back in 2005, was so I could unlock Khelds and play the game how -I- wanted to play it. To me, they were the best AT of the lot. :)

She can do a few things regular PB's can't and she's prone to being rather short tempered at times.

[Slips Into Character]

Ellie? Short-tempered? No, I don't think I would ever reasonably classify her as that. Impulsive, flighty, decidedly self-assured - whilst harbouring serious doubts about her right to exist, and grave concerns about her "inherent evil" - I never think she's quick to lose her temper.

God knows, I'm probably one of the most infuriating men she's ever called a friend, but do you really think I'd have entrusted someone as volatile as you claim with not only the means but the imprimatur to destroy me if I "went rogue"? I'm no fool. An "eejit", to borrow a word from the most important woman in my world, but not a fool.

Ellie is good. She is not thoughtless, or cruel - though her tongue often feels that way when aimed at me - and far less likely to fly into a rage than some I know - myself included.

I am proud to call her friend, I am proud to call her ally, and I am deeply honoured to have her in my life.

Short-tempered? No, I really don't think so. Short, definitely (and I'll pay for that...). And there is certainly a temper. But to have evil done to you, and to come so far as to be a kind soul... I wish there were ten of her.

The wisdom of Shadowe: Ghostraptor: The Shadowe is wise ...; FFM: Shadowe is no longer wise. ; Techbot_Alpha: Also, what Shadowe said. It seems he is still somewhat wise ; Bull Throttle: Shadowe was unwise in this instance...; Rock_Powerfist: in this instance Shadowe is wise.; Techbot_Alpha: Shadowe is very wise *nods*; Zortel: *Quotable line about Shadowe being wise goes here.* FFM: I think you're mostly wise in this instance, apart from one part.

TOTALLY agreed... I started with an Elec/Elec Blaster in 2005, then as soon as I hit 50, I made a Peacebringer. I made a Warshade as soon as that toon hit 50, and I never looked back...haha

I had a stable of about 2 dozen 50s, but anyone who knew me could tell you I was on either my PB or my WS 90% of the time. I mainly wanted to have my other 50s so I could have flexibility for TFs in case a team really needed a specific type of support or some extra damage... :)
