TBH, with responses like this, it would have been better if Ironwolf never said a thing and just surprised us with the news AFTER the deal was done.

I was bemused to hear somebody in zone on CO broadcasting about there being a thread about the buyout on reddit  ( http://www.reddit.com/r/Cityofheroes/comments/29wow9/update_on_the_the_deal_with_ncsoft/ ). Information is flowing out pretty much all over the place now...

I immediately wondered if there are people connected with CO who would not mind stirring up trouble to try and torpedo this effort.

At this point it's far too late for that. Better to keep most of it centralized in one place where the actual legitimate discussion can be somewhat controlled. If it were removed, the wild rumors and misinformation would be just as rampant all over facebook and other sites, and there would be nothing to contradict them.

Yes, I'm coming to the conclusion that best thing that could happen right now is for Iron Wolf and the New Devs to go into silent running mode. I think the negatives are outweighing the positives in terms of PR.  Hopefully there's not been too much damage done already.

2. This is exactly the kind of thing that might make them leery. I know the minute someone threatens me I want to say "Oh Yeah? Bring it!" They could decline the deal and say there never was one and that they have no idea why a bunch of trouble makers said there was. They could also say "We have no interest in selling this property, now or ever." And this time that might be exactly true.

I'm not threatening anyone. But I know what rabid fans are like, and I know what the Internet is like. The Internet is like herding cats. It is not controllable. This site is very calm and cooperative.

Please stay calm and don't threaten NCSoft until you have a reason. You may be uttering a self fulfilling prophecy.

I don't recall threatening NC over anything. I do not have that kind of power. I just know how people ARE, and so do you. That's being realistic.

This whole thing is NC going about things the wrong way. They seem to be saying: "We wish to be known as kind, caring denizens of the Gaming World, bringing good things to people and enjoying a sterling reputation."

The way to achieve that is by doing kind, caring things. Doing good things. Making people happy. THEN we see: "I like that bunch! I trust them! I want to do business with them, I trust them with my online creations! What a fantastic bunch of people!! THEY RULE, I will be a customer forever!"

That is how "good PR" is truly achieved.

Here's the thing re: NCSoft and Public Relations.

I'm pretty sure that if they do the right thing and do not impede those trying to resurrect it, many of us, even most of us, would be willing to call the past the past, and move on. I am one who had turned my back on the company and anything they had to do with, including GW2. I can't speak for the rest of those with an axe to grind with NCSoft, but if they assist these new devs with resurrecting this game, I'll bury the hatchet.

So it should be seen as a double edged sword, sure, NCSoft may be a little spooked at the new devs possibly upsetting the community with some of their choices - and maybe the new dev team will. Perhaps they'll break the game with a poor albeit well-meaning decision. From what Ironwolf has said, that's *extremely* unlikely, but you never know.

In any case, there would be ZERO ill will from me to NCSoft if it DID happen. It simply wouldn't be their fault. As far as I am concerned, once NCSoft permits the game to come back, assuming they have no strings attached that harm it, then even if the game yet fails, for me, NCSoft would be utterly IN THE CLEAR.

So, NCSoft people, if you ARE reading these posts, go ahead and give the game over to these nice new dev people. It will in all likelihood get you finally off the hook, no matter what happens next.

I don't think that's necessarily true.  Everything that is essential about CoH and its feel could occur in almost any setting.

That's far from a "veiled threat." That is an honest assessment of how the playerbase is going to react if oversensitivity scuttles a sale, yet again. We all know it. People are already upset from what I hear, and nothing has even happened yet? Imagine.

People won't be happy. My saying that people will be unhappy won't somehow magic unhappiness into being, it'll happen naturally.

I quite frankly wish I had the power to influence people in that manner on a large scale basis, lol! Perhaps that is why one of my Mains was a Dom.  8)

These are my thoughts exactly.. no more updates until its a deal.. or no deal.. The community has been informed.. yet they want more and more and more info..

4.  This is my all time favorite wish list idea:  I always wanted to have my other heroes in my roster play as "companions/pets" .  Example:  I'm playing my mind/kin controller: Prime Knight.  And I feel like soloing, because I have like 30 minutes to play, but I've got a mission that requires at least another player for an AV or an Elite Boss, that's just a little too Elite.  What do I do?  I summon my Claws/SR scrapper to help put out some extra damage.  If you ever played SWTOR or STO: something similar, but using the built in pet controls/ AI I could live with.  With the side kicking system any pet/companion hero can play with any other hero and the dev's can balance the mobs for an extra player if needed, but honestly, it sounds just fun to play with a team of all my characters at once.  And think of all the crazy fun if there's a team of 4 actual players each with their own favorite two characters on the field.
5.  Fun idea to add to #4:  Allow the play to switch back and forth between characters on the field.

I did that by playing in windowed mode and firing up my other account to team with my own characters.   :D
