Maybe it just felt like 5 hours... but I could swear there was a progression timer to it that clicked at a 5 hour mark.  Well, either way that whole area did feel like a self-contained Task Force.

I'd go back to the Hollows after hitting 50, just to smack around some of the CoT and Trolls that gave me such a hard time in the early levels...  ;D

I don't get it - not that I have to, but here's my nickel or so:

I'm not an endgame person. Glacial pace, tiny incremental advancement, even the incarnate stuff, though it was cool, wasn't game changing.

What I loved was the journey from 0 to 50.

I say '0' becausse I would spend 2-3 weeks person even creating the character in CoX designing, doing MIDs work, posting ideas on forums, etc. Then what I thought the build was as perfected as it could be, I would make the character in game and start playing him.

At the beginning, I would look for farms to join, then I realized that being in a farm meant NOT playing CoX. Sure it was a fast way to level, but the game was the *experience* of going from 1 to 50 - why was I skipping that?

So I stopped farming, and starting having FUN with the 1-50 journey. Maybe it took me three months to get to 50, playing a few hours a day, and stopping every so often to IO up and stuff. But it was the MEAT of my CoXing. Then, as soon as I hit 50, I would shelve the character and start the process all over with a new design period for a brand new mechanical concept.

So I don't want to rocket to 50 - though I *do* want to see constant steady level progress. A journey isn't fun if it slows to a crawl either.

The leveling speed of CoX I thought was just about perfect. I could gain a level every few hours or so on average.

Anyways, not looking to dawdle to 50, but not looking to race to 5 either.

I'm not an endgame type either. I too prefer the journey, and playing the game rather than hurrying to 50. In my 5 and a half years with CoX I only got three toons to 50, two heroes and a villain. The Incarnate stuff was fun, and I was working on that but also playing numerous lower level characters.

Fortunately, my understanding of Ironwolf's posts seem to indicate that the new devs will run CoX as-is, at I-24 and not develop/change it further. They will then spend most of their time working on CoX2 with a new engine. And thats exactly how I'd like it to be.... Original CoX in perpetuity, with a new version to come.

I don't care how other gamers play.... PL'ing, usinf the AE to level, etc.... to each his own. As long as we're all having fun, it's none of my business how others play. And CoX lets us do that... lets us all do what we want! Hurray for that!

Heh, two years ago last spring I started my RL retirement and had been planning to spend a lot of time in semi-retirement at my condo in Talos Island.  And then Aug 31st, 2012, my son came home from work, saw I was sitting down and asked me if I'd read the news.  That was The Day The Heroes Died...

A long, long time ago
I can still remember how those powers used to make me smile
And I knew if I had my chance that I could make those villians dance
And maybe they'd be locked up for a while

So Bye, Bye, Miss American Pie...

Since then, I've drifted from one MMO to another, looking for another place to hang my cape, with no really enjoyable results.  But with renewed hopes for a CoH revival, I've spent way too much time on this board, and playing around with Mids to start investigating builds for new character concepts, mixing and matching powersets I've never tried before.  (30 new blasters so far, just for starters.)  Next step will be to play around with the costume designer function in Icon and see what I can come up with.

On opening day, I'll probably have to flit around, re-establishing my old heroes, but I'll be adding new ones, and I'll probably be resurrecting my Fusionette clones, just to have her jump for joy out in front of the donut shop in Faultline...

Lots and lots of plans... Not the least of which will be using AE to create the first episode of The OniMooners, since on the last day of the game, Lum Invader (aka Ramu) and Ataru (aka Ataru Moronboshi) went ahead and tied the knot at City Hall.  I bought the Wedding Dress costume pack specifically for her when it first showed up.  And yeah, I got the pics to prove it!

Technically, those activities could be defined as "end-game" activities as well.

I enjoyed doing those things because I could experiment/respec a fully unlocked 50. I think I respec'd my Warshade at least 50 times (and that's just one character out of 75 or so), because I was obsessed with trying different playstyles, attack chains, single/dual/tri-form builds, etc., etc.

To me, when you're messing around with "perfecting" a build in Mids.... you're doing end-game content. It's called min/maxing. It sounds to me that you were actually a min/maxer that also enjoyed the creation/leveling of a character as well.

I never really had the patience to play with MIDs much, I also didn't have the patience to faff around with respeccing either, so I just made sure to read descriptions and basically wing it.

Never yet managed to make a gimped character, except for Gimp Lord, and that was deliberate! :p

I'd love to see the Mids stats on the gimpiest build ever...  the ultimate IronMan contestant.

No Travel Powers.

All the really useless Inherent abilities uber-slotted.
6-slotted Interrupt TOs for Rest, there's the ticket!

Hmmm time to create Gimp Girl!

Oh, Crud!!!  Did I just create my Forum Title?

MM3squints

True gimp builds six slot brawl with all proc IOs

Sugoi

Nah, to be truly Gimped, the character could never figure out how to use anything more complicated than TOs.. aka Training Wheels.

I think a true gimp would leave all slots empty.

I had several toons with no travel power. Using Sprint, Swift and Hurdle, (and later the Ninja Run) they got around just fine.

Well, I thought about it for a long while, and came to a realization in that, South Korean law and United States law aren't the same.  That includes the legalities of networking probably differs.  Maintaining data and whatnot, the two countries probably have differing standards.  So, at least over there, they may not follow the same policies of backing up and account data and the like.  I don't know south korean law, I do know that legally companies are required to keep information, keep it confidential, AND make sure it can be retrieved as needed in the United States.  That includes old data.  Again though, I am not sure about South Korean law and how it'd change things.  Thats honestly why earlier I kind of suggested asking old developers or even people who originally worked for paragon studios IF IT WAS LEGALLY POSSIBLE TO DO SO.

Companies are NOT required to keep information confidential in the United States. Only certain info, like medical records, are protected by law. Selling people's info is a multi-billion dollar industry in the US.

Got to admit that would be truly Hard Core Gimping!

Exactly.  When you get to tweaking your toons, especially in Mids....that's definitely a game in itself.  *sigh* I really hope this works out and we get the game back and functioning.
Reminder: No game = No data, no characters...nothing.  However, no data/characters != No game.

At the very least, it'd be nice to have a ruleset where Khelds can be worked out properly! I never did managed to fit my PB into a PL10 Mutants & Masterminds char... Not anywhere near enough points!

I did manage to make one in the second or third edition of MnM. There's a power that for the cost of a handful of points will let you essentially create a second or third or eighth form using all the points NOT put into that power.

How about never visiting a trainer and playing the entire game with only your starting powers?
