LOL...there were definitely no spoilers at all that could have warned anyone this was coming, amirite? :P

(Yes, I've read the books.)

Ok good hehe hopefully it didn't spoil things a whole lot for those who haven't read the books or seen the series and I'm sorry I'm going off topic just thought the reactions themselves kind of remind me of what we will be like with the hopefully good news.

I'm a little late to the CO-bashing, but...

Heeeeeeey now. Me no likie the bashing smashie? Lol. I was merely expressing my opinion of the game (along with my impression of the community) - and both of which, of course, are based off of my own personal experiences from instances and interactions I had in-game. But as I said - CO REALLY isn't all that bad. I met some nice peeps. Had some fun. But I want my city back.

...BUT LET US NOT DWELL ON SUCH TOPICS. Because this:

FWIW, Castle often takes the blame for that because he was in charge of the powers team at the time. However, from post-mortem discussions with him and some other folks I'm pretty certain that he didn't actually want those PVP "fixes" in I13, but the order came from above him.

A moderator lost his job over PVP was it the I13 one or was it later when he said the changes where not for the current PVP players; they where trying to get more of the COX playerbase to come pvp which they had no desire so instead of helping PVP they lost more subs and pvp was even more of a baron wasteland than it was.

That is always what happens when you shoehorn in pvp after the fact and do not build a game with PVP in mind. I remember on the forums people where trying to sell me on that COH PVP was going to save the game back in the i4-i5 days I laughed at those people instead it opened up to a small group of players and crickets. Look I played lots of pvp in other games and enjoyed it even did some COX pvp but I am glad pvp was not the focus of COX

I don't regret a single bit of it, and am very excited about where the game is going.

I keep checking back in to CO, but I find the opposite to be true. Hasn't been any new real content since Vibora, and many of the adventure packs are broken. I find the play to be incredibly repetitive and boring. That said, I've glad you've found a home! I'd be interested in teaming up some time to see what you're seeing.

Duuuuuuude!

I had a fire/fire/fire tank named "BBQ Beef." We should soooo make a cow-themed SG! (How about "Battle Cattle" as a name?)

I had an ill/TA called Agent of Muuuu and a rad/psi def called Debuffalo

I never made the toon to go with https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQMbXvn2RNI&feature=kp

Quote from: chuckv3 on July 09, 2014, 09:14:26 PMwhat if there really are only 300 of us initially returning. We'd have 20 people average on each server. That would really suck.

That's the thought that keeps popping in to my head too, yeah.  At this point we really have no idea how many people would show up to a CoH reopening, and even less idea of how many of them would stick around once the initial nostalgia thrill had worn off - there's a lot of very enthusiastic people here, but even accounting for lurkers I seriously doubt it'd be enough to sustain a viable population, especially across 16 servers.  As much as I'd love to be able to log in and see all my toons on Pinnacle, Justice & Virtue right where I left them, I'd think the safer option would be to start out small and expand as the population demands.

(The other thought that keeps popping in to my head is that if there's only one server to start with and it isn't called Paragon, then we're quite possibly doing something very wrong...  :) )

Ha!  I would have loved to see him teamed w/ my buddies fire/? (I can't remember which AT as I get it mixed up with his fire/? tank "Helvis Presley") "BBQ Chicken" - the costume he had for both were just pure hilarity and awesomeness rolled into one!

parabola

Are we there yet?

Loaded up icon to look at my costumes and figure out what I'm going to roll everyone as for a fresh start. Man this is bittersweet! I had no idea how little I was over losing the game until this stirred it all up again. Ironwolf, I'm holding you personally responsible - this better work ;)! I kid, I kid. Really appreciate all you've done and the efforts of the mystery potential buyers. Make it happen quickly though!

From face-planted teammate: "No rush on the awaken. I never realized how soothing the pattern on this carpet was before."

Continually heard from my usual crew when we were in PI.... "ZUESY!!!!!!! HE'S MAH FRIEND!!!!"

Or when we hit Strigia... "PUPPIES!!!"... I miss that :)

Benchpresser

This is the type of gaming I miss-

My usual SG crew (Drunk Canadians on Liberty) always played while we were all on Skype.  One of the crew- Vaxin Blade, HATES the color pink, despises it.  Soo.... one night the other 7 members of the crew.. we all showed up with EVERYTHING pink... pink costumes, pink powers, pink chat... we even ran some custom AE farms whereght all the enemies were all pink..

There was much cursing and muttering over Skype that night hehe (and Pink FF and Sonics look... odd)

Another time... all the members had their own IO tables in the base... one member.. we emptied his table and completely filled it with crafted Jaunts.....

THIS is why I want this game back.... the fun is sorely missed!

I'm really enjoying reading about the creative mixtures of ATs and names.  Pics?

That's depressing to hear... the suppression was basically streamlined shallowness. Suddenly a regen scrapper had the same regen as a fire blaster. They gave squishier ATs inherent res/def to match tankers... It removed the value of playing different ATs that had very different strengths, rewards, weaknesses, and play styles... If your choice of character build has no significance it becomes very stagnant and unrewarding.

While not as painful as losing CoH entirely, after i13 half of my global friends list suddenly disappeared and I never heard from them again, and I was very depressed about that for a long time, and I still have lingering feelings of resentment for having those fun times with those friends taken from me. :/

Yes it was and I was not a COX pvp player I felt bad for those guys they ruined the segment for the guys that enjoyed the pvp it hurt a small portion of player base but subs are subs which means money. Anyways maybe they can correct that with the next version or this version depending on what is decided in the future.

All they'd really need are instanced versions of each PvP zone; one with the old rules, and one with the new rules. That way everyone wins. More options always > less options. If they somehow brought back pre-i13 PvP somehow, they'd have me subbed for life. :V

Pretty sure they'd need different servers or a ton of coding at least.

There was totally different info in the power defs for when you entered a PvP zone... So the game would need either an entirely new flag setup to cue different info in the DB or a new server that needed to be maintained separately which has unique PvP data to be set to.

It would be a giant pain in the ass to set up two different PvP systems in the game.  And worst of all, only like 6 people would care.
