yeah rumor was they KOed 9 because 9 was like a complete migration to tablet device interfaces, hence why 10 is different. still they will have problems with getting china to buy it which might be fatal as a business effort.

Nope.  They didn't go for 9 because 1000's of brainless java (and similar) programmers did this:

if(Version.StartsWith("Windows 9"))
{ /* 95 & 98 */
} else {
}

Despite being told not to by Microsoft an uncountable number of times.

Epic facepalm, right there.

That i can believe, and it makes far more sense as well. The name/number attached to the product at release can be anything they want; the previous version could've been Windows 77 in development and Microsoft could call next one Windows 4 if they wanted to.
Or, you know, XBox, XBox 360, XBox One...
So far so good. Onward and upward!

I was on Virtue at first with some friends, but a crash kicked me out and I couldn't get back in so I logged onto Triumph with my original character and stood with the others in front of City Hall.  I remember seeing messages popping up about the other servers disappearing.  It was a weird feeling of hope that maybe, just maybe, this server would be left standing.  Then it vanished into the webs.

I remember sitting there, staring at my screen thinking, "Well great...now what do I do with my time?"

At the job I had at the time, my idiot supervisor kept rubbing my face in the fact that he played Guild Wars 2 and kept trying to get me into it until I snapped at him that I refused to play any NCSoft titles.  I switched to SWTOR for a time and tried a few others then just went back to non MMO titles, plus the Avengers Alliance browser game.

TBH, it's good for Microsoft, this way.  MS get to avoid being yelled at again due to lots of 3rd party programs not working anymore, and they get loads of free press from folks going "Why'd they skip 9?"

I was on Virtue in Atlas until other people logging in started imploding the server, in the end I couldn't get back into Virtue so I shifted to Exalted and went into Ourborus to quietly await the end among the trees and waterfalls of one of the floating islands.

All the time sad to see the game go and also cursing NCSoft for closing the game down.
I was fighting Freakshow on some portal corp mission with Agent Standin and the rest of the Agents.

Admittedly I was tempting to go down fighting against the forces of evil, but I figured a quiet vigil was better for me.

Sigh, if only NCSoft would sign on the dotted line already......

I wish they would sign the dotted line to, getting bored of oblivion.  Would play skyrim(which I like more) but there is a mod coming up that'd make me have to start my characters over from scratch.
Currently; Not doing any streaming, found myself with less time available recently.  Still playing starbound periodically, though I am thinking of trying other games.  Don't tell me to play mmohtg's though please :).  Getting back into participating in VO and the successors again to.

Thunder Glove

When the game shut down, I was logged into Protector, on my first-ever Villain (and still the character I judge all Pet-centric classes in other games by), my Bots/Storm Mastermind, standing directly in front of Lord Recluse's statue in Grandville.  There wasn't anyone else around, but the channels were lively, and that's where I said my goodbyes.

Damn, I'm sad again.

Hail Recluse: Bots/Storm was an awesome BEAST.

Thunder Glove

It really was.  He wasn't only my first MM, but my favorite.  It was chaotic, but insanely good.  I was so waiting for Gadgetry for him, too.

I haven't found a Pet class in any other game that comes close to a CoH Mastermind, let alone that Mastermind.

Bots/time worked really well together :).

Didn't play much with Time power, focused on getting my 50s Incarnate.

Hopefully I'll get my chance to try it out  ;D

Time manipulation was very well rounded, though it had a modest/high emphasis on defense and to-hit manipulation.  -tohit debuffs and defense buffs stacked well, it was great in close range.  Getting power boost or power build up allowed you to get some very high defense numbers out of it.

I THINK I was on Liberty with FantasyWriter dancing under Atlas.  My icon is a portion of my last screenshot (hopefully I figured out how to post a pic): http://i572.photobucket.com/albums/ss161/RobinDOwens/LastShot2_zps0e00f21d.jpg

What got me, though, was the screensaver pic I had when I logged off.  It looked like a new beginning, and I sure didn't want that.

I check back here praying for an ETA. When we get an announcement, that's when I submit my vacation request form.

So much for running all those Windows 1 programs I kept around.
