I don't think I'm alone here when I say "windows 8 killed any compatibility issues by making OS consumers have no faith in windows OS products, it will be very hard for windows to market windows 9 after what they pulled with 8".

China (one of the biggest game consumers) will have no part of it after what Microsoft attempted to do in China. My GF's dad had a brand new windows 8 computer issued by the government that he had never used when a memo came from the gov that he needed to get rid of it immediately and couldn't use it for any gov related anything  followed by windows 8 OS disks and computers being recalled by the gov and shipped back to microsoft for a refund (which I think Microsoft protested, which only makes it worse).

Honestly ( I know it's been said before) I think once CoX returns NCSoft will see that it will stay profitable and maybe, maybe with a gentle nudge they will consider finishing the incarnate content or adding more to the game.

the other thing they could consider is contingent developments; content that has to be bought and keeps a play count and has a comment box. It's as simple as Devs make content, if no one buys it then they don't get paid, if people buy it then they get paid a predetermined percent of the total sales based on number of plays and the general overview of the comments like: 1: high sales, lots of plays, good comments/no comments [cause people are busy playing it] = 40%, 2: low sales or, not many plays or, negative comments = 0.1%. obviously I'm just making a distinction of how people can work on contingency the percents are just to illustrate a reward/punishment system.

Last I read, MS gave a preview of what the new OS should be like, and they announced that it should be Windows 10, not 9.

I will probably end up spending the first 24 hours just standing in Atlas Park, with the music and the sound on, just soaking it all in that I'm finally back there. And chatting with 50 people at once while tells scroll by in my chat window like the numbers on the NYSE.

I am going to spend about 4 hours...trying to decide Katana/Dark Armor or Titan Weapons/Dark Armor for Ryu, TW fits him RP more...but that Arc of Destruction animation I hate it so T.T

As someone whose first 50 was a katana/invuln scrapper, I can definitely tell you that the newer power set animations made the old ones like katana look positively prehistoric in comparison.   ;)  Bear that in mind with his RP story....

That is the thing, I had Ryu as a Katana/Dark Armor Brute (I remade him as that from Rad/Dark defender when I fleshed out his backstory..which you can currently Read in the RP forums!) Titan Weapons looks better (mostly) and would fit him...but that Animation For Arc of Destruction is so bad from an RP perspective, it makes me Cringe to even think of using it.

I have an entirely new set of friends at this point in my life (including a wife), none of which played City.  I'm looking forward to possibly getting a personal super group right off the bat.  And introducing people to this game?  Priceless.

Loading into Icon every now and then definitely hits me right in the heart.  Flying through Atlas Park, even though I haven't for two years, I was amazed how I remembered the City.  I probably know Paragon City better than I know my own.

I don't get out much.

Imagine how it is from my shoes. I've been looking at what makes up the city for the past 2 years, on top of 8 years of playing CoH.
Doesn't help that I moved to a new city about a year ago, and then to the north end of said city a month ago. ...I have no idea where anything is here. Lmao.

But I'll *NEVER* need a map in Atlas Park again, that's for freaking sure.

I'm  running the Windows 10 technical preview as my O.S. At the moment...and...It's not awful actually. I'm pleasantly surprised.

I'm liking 10 as well so far. Compatibility with all my enterprise applications is still there. I'm excited to see all the pretty they're putting into the consumer preview in January!

My only issue so far is that installed programs don't always seem to actually put a link in the start menu... -shrugs-

I'll bet!   Can you walk from one end to the other with your eyes closed?

I was in AP on Champion at the end, we had a lot of fun that night, but it was brutally sad when it ended.

I was in Atlas on Virtue, I don't remember which number. For at least the last hour, I wasn't sobbing but tears were streaming down my face.

I was very, very conflicted about being on my Blueside main, and having to neglect my villain main. The toon I learned first on, my first level 50. I could not have her logged on too, and that really hurt my heart. She deserved to be present, somewhere in the Isles. But everyone seemed to be Blueside, and I didn't want to miss what was happening there.

Even if it did rip my heart out of my chest right by the roots. I have not been the same since.

Go for a challenge, try teleporting across AP.

As for the final day: it hurt too much to log in the last few months. The final days I was heavy into the basketball season and couldn't get to the PC much.

Some friends and I made toons that looked as close as possible to our real life selves complete with the nicknames we called each other and tried to play as long as we could. It was bittersweet to say the least. I think we made it through the hollows before we logged out.

Oh, you memorized the blimp's flight pattern? :p
I used CIT before they even joined the Titan network! But then I left for a long ol' time, and came back. Now I edit the wiki.

I was the same way, for myself I logged into my main and went through the frostfire arc because, every character I played with, I did it solo and I wanted to have that classic final battle. Afterward I went to Talos wand walked back to Atlas retracing my first time playing City of. :)
One day the Phoenix will rise again.

I couldn't bring myself to log in closing day. Still hurts to think about but this gives me a lot of hope.

I was on Virtue in Atlas until other people logging in started imploding the server, in the end I couldn't get back into Virtue so I shifted to Exalted and went into Ourborus to quietly await the end among the trees and waterfalls of one of the floating islands.

All the time sad to see the game go and also cursing NCSoft for closing the game down.

I was on Virtue at first with some friends, but a crash kicked me out and I couldn't get back in so I logged onto Triumph with my original character and stood with the others in front of City Hall.  I remember seeing messages popping up about the other servers disappearing.  It was a weird feeling of hope that maybe, just maybe, this server would be left standing.  Then it vanished into the webs.

I remember sitting there, staring at my screen thinking, "Well great...now what do I do with my time?"

yeah rumor was they KOed 9 because 9 was like a complete migration to tablet device interfaces, hence why 10 is different. still they will have problems with getting china to buy it which might be fatal as a business effort.
There is always another way. But it might not work exactly like you may desire.

A wise old rabbit once told me "Never give-up!, Trust your instincts!" granted the advice at the time led me on a tripped-out voyage out of an asteroid belt, but hey it was more impressive than a bunch of rocks and space monkies.
