City of Heroes - 10/9/13

No, sadly it's not what you're thinking.  It's a tag line from the trailer for the 2nd season of Arrow on The WB.

At the end of the first season part of Starling City is destroyed by an earthquake machine (gee, that sounds familiar).

So is someone on staff a fan?

Anyways here's the trailer.  The first 1:25 is highlights from the first season conclusion, the next minute previews of this season.  From 2:25 on is a "look who's showing up" moment and that's where the tag line is found.

PS:  Yes, this is sort of a cross post.  Sue me.

Edit:  Duh Starling not Star.  Had a billboard and everything.

Damn if that didn't make me homesick.

I just posted this in another thread.  I mentioned that NCSoft has missed an opportunity on a lot of money.

Part of me wonders if it wasn't a deliberate choice. We always seem to be surprised to find where The Game had fans. Would be cool if the writer(s) of the episode, or just someone in one of the bigger offices on the production staff, played. :)
I wouldn't use the word "replace," but there's no word for "take over for you and make everything better almost immediately," so we just say "replace."

Never having seen this show, is Star City a City of Heroes, or just one?

Starling City is where the Green Arrow lives and prevents crime.  It looks like they are going to add more from the comic books this upcoming season.

Thanks! May check it out. Heard it was a decent show. Don't watch much network TV. Nor did I follow this particular comic.
Was a Big X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Batman fan! (Along with Uncle Eerie and Cousin Creepy)

The show started out sluggish, with some abysmal dialogue that seemed to make even the actors uncomfortable, but kinda blossomed as it went.  My wife (a huge Green Arrow fan) was ready to give up on it 5 or so episodes in, since she felt like the writers just didn't love the subject matter as much as she did, but was prioritizing it over just about everything else on our DVR by the end of the season.

Season 2 just announced Summer Glau in a recurring role, lending the show a little more geek-cred and giving me another reason to watch.

I noticed that.  And my inner (well, outer, really) geek had two immediate reactions:

1) Yay!  Summer!

2) No!  It's going to be cancelled at the end of the season!

I was once being interviewed by Barbara Walters...In between two of the segments she asked me..."But what would you do if the doctor gave you only six months to live?" I said, "Type faster." - Isaac Asimov

Yea, she's a bit of a curse isn't she.  But so was Nathan Fillion for a while.  Then again if it's a role that lasts only a year ...

The show has introduced other DC characters.  They did have The Huntress, still in her vengeance against the Mob phase.  The bit at the end of the trailer seems to introduce "a" Black Canary.  The guy with the red hoodie she appears to rescue, who was also rescued last season by "The Hood" (as Oliver was called by the press), is Roy Harper and he desperately wants to join the fight for justice (he's also dating Oliver's sister whose childhood nickname was "Speedy").

Now that part of the city has been destroyed and "The Hood" has disappeared for 5 months, who knows what other vigilantes have sprung up to fill the gap?

I wish folks would drop the "Summer is a curse" thing. Ted McGinley had the same reputation, because he had been added to a few shows near the ends of their runs. And then, he joined "Married...With Children", and stayed there for SEVEN seasons. (Since it ended with him in the cast, I suppose someone will argue that he, eventually, killed that show, too.) Let it go.

You misunderstand my view on the matter.  I love watching Summer Glau.  She's awesome.  She just hasn't had good luck.  Every time I see her I hope her luck has changed.  I don't think she's a curse at all.

No, my post wasn't in reply to yours.

I'm with you, actually. I love her work, and I'm getting a lot of it on DVD. Plus, every time I re-watch T:TSCC, I'm crushing on her all over again just a few episodes in - which might not be relevant to a discussion of her talent.

Mancandy, you say? 8)

Green Arrow is one of the superheroes that I'm actually fond of.  (Yeah, I know, why was I in CoH without being a comics geek?  Costume creator and wide open character concept space, mostly.)  I may have to check it out.  Thanks, everyone.

Yeah, his body is something to envy, that's for sure.  He must really work hard to keep that body up to par.
