So CNN asked me to do a new report, with a different screenshot.

I merged the update into the main story.

Im a little bummed we couldnt just edit the existing one and keep the comments and views.. but ...

"dont worry, this will get a lot more views when vetted"

Fingers crossed:

Awesome!

Everyone rate it "This belongs on CNN!"

the first one got enough views and recommends to get CNN's attention.  WE made the message be heard.  The new one is on the fast track.  Rate it anyway, but the 2000 recommend rule, was NEVER a requirement it seems.

iReport Vetted on CNN

Awesome! Now we have a big feather in our cap: a nationally recognized news agency has reviewed our story and told the world that it is, in at least some small way, truly newsworthy.

Just rated it and left a comment.  Impressive job, you rock out loud.

Rated. Nice work, very well written, and Leandro's final cut of the "Heroes" rally video is just amazing. C'mon, CNN, you're not going to find a better story, and the human interest angle is quite obvious. I bet you can even get some celebrity face time.

So, when will it air since it's approved?

It still has a lot of other vetted iReports to compete with, if we're angling for airtime. I'd be thrilled with that, but we need to keep pushing if it's even going to make it onto CNN.com's "Living News" tab. Greenlights, comments...it's a story that deserves to be told. Come on, guys! We can do this!

Done. Excellent article, thank you! :)

If you note the comment at the top from an actual CNN producer, I think we have a better chance at airing than one might initially think:

QuoteI started playing [City of Heroes] in 2005, took a few years off, and came back to the game a few months ago at the request of my son who lives several states away, so I have an emotional stake in this [planned shutdown] like many others.

All vetted iReports get a producer comment. That is part of the vetting process.

He's not a CNN producer, incidentally; he's an iReports producer; he carries much less clout than a "real" CNN (CNN proper, that is) producer. Just to temper the excitement a bit. Think of him as a ... moderator of sorts. Or a community manager. :)

Considering all that Zwill's done, I think my reasoning is sound. But perhaps you are right. My mistake.

...... actually.. he left out the "Paindancer told me" part that should have proceeded that quote.  Meh, maybe he is showing solidarity.  :)

Great effort with the iReport article. Thanks a lot.

I have one comment though, and I should start out by saying that I am the opposite of a Grammar Nazi, but I am wondering if the use of "Affect" in your headline is proper.

The headline reads:
QuoteAffecting Change Through Social Networking and Virtual Capes

I am fairly certain that you want to say that we are "Bringing about change...", in which case it should read:

QuoteEffecting Change Through Social Networking and Virtual Capes

"Affecting change...", would mean "To have an effect on change...".

I would not bring this up if the headline wasn't the most visible part of an article. I understand it's a common mistake, but I don't think we would want this to lessen the impact of the article.

Thanks again.
