Well, yes, people who can afford manors are busy making real life money.

Personally, I'm more curious as to how one "pancakes" as a verb. Is it simply the act of making pancakes, or is there more to it? Is this a case where ignorance is bliss?  :P

It can be squishing something flat, or landing like a belly flop on a hard surface.

There might be quite a few people who weren't hanging around here back when it first happened, so here's the story with that.

Around the time of the "sunset" (CoH's closure) was when the Titan Network first offered to let everyone use their forums as a place to gather and wait together for whatever was to come. Emotions were still running very high at that point, so to prevent some posts from turning into a total mess, the admins/mods set the forum software to auto-replace heavier cuss words with the word "pancake". To curb other kinds of discussions, they also had "troll" replaced with "unicorn" for a while.

Both cases caused some rather intense threads to devolve into total silliness, as opposed to continuing endlessly in pointless angry arguments. It was a very inspired action on the part of the Titan folks, in my opinion. It turned tension into comedy relief, and helped show people that they were not going to be allowed to throw tantrums here.



Actually, speaking of... I just wanna take a second to thank the mods and admins here for looking after this place so well, and for taking on all this extra activity in the first place. You folks are awesome! :D

Pancake originated earlier. The official COH forums were set to replace most obscenities with the word pancake. I think it was probably Zwillinger's idea, because IIRC is happened during his tenure as community manager. I also remember some problems with the forum software they used, at one time it would replace every letter with the word pancake. So 'bulls---' got replaced with "pancake pancake pancake pancake pancake pancake pancake pancake"

The use of pancake here is an homage / callback to that. The whole unicorn thing did originate here during rather heated discussions around the time of the closure, however.

Indeed.  I remember the thread where "pancake" originated, because I was involved.  I don't remember the context, but I'd said something I wasn't supposed to, which wasn't even (I think?) profanity, and one of the non-Zwill mods actually went in and changed my post so that it not just removed the problematic language, but changed the nature of what I'd said in a substantive way.  Like, made me sound like I'd said the opposite of what I'd actually said (so it was probably something where I started out criticizing the devs or something similar, and got mod-edited to sound like I was fanboying, as was often the case).

I PM'd Zwill to let him know that whichever mod had done that had, I felt, stepped over the line.  That I was willing to take responsibility for posting something inappropriate and accept whatever punishment went with doing so, but that I did not feel it was ever appropriate to change a user's post in a way that made them sound like they believed or advocated something that they didn't.  I'm pretty sure I said I'd rather just have my post deleted than have my words changed that dramatically.  My original post got restored, but with "pancake" in place of some of what I'd said, and "pancake" then became the word of choice for other edits in that thread and beyond, which I thought was kind of a brilliant way of defusing what had been a tense conversation.

At least, that's the way it played out in my Wyrm-centric head, almost four years later.

I got in touch with Support @ Daybreak games - about my DC Universe Account being banned.
They admitted that it was just because of the migration process from the previous owner of the game.

Unfortunately it means my character is wiped, my purchases are gone (not that there were any).
Got back into the game, and it will be a few more days before I get my Life-Time permanent subscription added back on - so I get access to the premium features.

Just feels so noobish to actually ban a player, just because they havent played for a while.
Especially when its a life-time subscription. HELLO - Its life time, its meant to be a long time.
