Two whales walk into a bar.  The first said, "Oooooaàaaaauhhooooaaaaah!**". The second said, "Shut up, Steve!  You're drunk!"

I heard Dory, so I think it worked.
I used CIT before they even joined the Titan network! But then I left for a long ol' time, and came back. Now I edit the wiki.

I'm working on sorting the Lore AMAs so that questions are easily found and linked: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Lore_AMA/Sorted Tell me what you think!

I especially liked the one individual

I felt it summed up whale singing in text quite nicely.

A horse walks into a bar. The bartender asks, "Why the long face?"
I'm not really a doctor, but I've played one on Television!

Can someone (in simple terms please ;D) explain what's going on at the moment? :)
Are they still stuck in the NDA thing? Much appreciated :)

Please see page one of this thread for updates on progress.
It takes a village to raise a child. And it takes a villain to explain the value of lunch money.

What is going on here is that people are telling jokes, mostly of the bad variety. I'm not complaining, mind you, since that's my favorite kind of joke.

As for the negotiations, you'll have to find a crystal ball that actually works to figure that one out. I guess you could try a Magic 8 Ball if you can't find a crystal ball. Maybe even a beach ball would work.

Or you could do an 8-ball and speculate wildly. That would also be a distraction.

one of several possibilities...

1: they are taking a very extended time talking. maybe making progress..no evidence

2: they are negotiating in egyptian heiroglyphics on clay tablets...no evidence

3: ncsoft has stopped talking for reasons unknown..not said no, just negotiations require 2 parties..no evidence

4: ncsoft has decided "no" and either told the team or not. again, no evidence

nothing solid on any front. time passing. VO and COT making progress. check them out. I think things will be slow until one of those 2(or both) goes full time on the project.  once it gets to a point of being 40 hours a week development it will come together much quicker. they must be spending a lot of their non working hours to get to where they are now.

Nate has said he would inform us if he gets a solid "No" so I don't think we're at that point yet.

Fable

What's a game like this even worth now.. Every month it's off line it gets further out of people's minds and its worth less and less. It should be relatively cheap to purchase (it wasn't overly popular and its been dead for almost 3 years) and if that's the case, why on earth is it taking so long, it's a drop in the NCsoft bucket. If the price is high is it really even worth it? I mean how many people (outside of these forums) would realistically consistanly sub into it? Can such a small player base even support the game/earn a ROI.

Genuin questions. I have no idea what it take to run a mmo in maintenance mode.

Well, for one thing, a large part of the purchase's value, perhaps even the largest part, is the CoH IP. While City of Heroes (I) is a game that will bring in some money, it's the possibility of continuing the franchise as CoH (II) that may hold more future value. So even if running CoH in maintenance mode doesn't bring in much money, it doesn't have to completely pay for the purchase in order for the purchase to be worth it.

As for being dead, certain things that Codewalker and Arcana have said lead me to believe that it's possible to expand the game a bit even in maintenance mode. Though not, unfortunately, the story. But powers and powersets may be expandable, which would bring in more revenue since the expansions would be pay-to-unlock.

Heck, not just CoH 2. More novels and comic books to sell, MOBAs to create (how great would a MOBA be if you could import your characters from an MMO?), tabletop RPGs to start up.... the list goes on.

Hypothetically speaking, I have customers that are worth a particular revenue stream. It should be possible to calculate what it would cost to "buy" them from me.  However, if I felt you were not going to treat them properly, you wouldn't be able to buy them from me for ten times more than they could ever generate in revenue.  You'd have to pay me so much money that I know every time you did something dumb to them I could write them a check so large they would take the entire company to Tahiti while you fixed it.

The price someone wants to sell something doesn't have to be in any way close or even related to the intrinsic material value of that thing.  Sometimes the price I sell something is not what its worth to me, but rather a test to see how much its worth to you.
