I had to look over my shoulder to make sure you weren't in my living room. . .
We're almost there!  ;D

The RNG hates me.

I've been pretty calm about about the talks but this is taking forever. I'm almost starting to wish I could lose interest. Logically I understand that it will take as long as it needs to but come on.

I have a real problem with these kinds of shows being on The History Channel.  For one thing, they go on in each show as if they have conclusive proof of whatever they are talking about all through the show, inviting you to stay until the end to see what it is...only to find out that (as you would figure) there was nothing really there.  Not that this should come as any surprise, since if there were this kind of groundbreaking discovery, this kind of show is not the place where you will hear about it first.  All that is bad enough, but the fact that when one tunes into The History Channel, the assumption is that this is a non-fiction show, or at very least, that there is some proof of the assertions they make during the course of the show.  I remember feeling hoodwinked the first time I watched one of these shows, and never bothered again.

I believe that the universe, and our own local galaxy for that matter, are far too big a place for us to have an exclusive on life.  To take it a step further, I believe there is sentient life out there.  I think it falls into three categories.  Those species that are advanced enough to visit us, but have learned enough about us already to know that now is not the best time for a first contact situation; those that are essentially at the same stage of development as we are, and lack the ability to do anything but send electromagnetic signals beyond the confines of our own solar system.  The third would be those that are even more backward than ourselves, philosophically, developmentally, and technologically.  However, these kinds of shows do nothing but tarnish legitimate scientific exploration into these subjects with a "smarmy tabloid" kind of vibe, and don't enlighten, or educate anyone watching them about anything.

Did not mean to jump on a soapbox there, but between "Alien Hunters", and "Megalodon" that was broadcast during "Shark Week" in a style that would have one believe that there are still live specimens in our oceans, I was just waiting for a chance to voice my dissatisfaction about them in a forum where the topic was being discussed.

Now, back to your regularly scheduled discussion about the return of City of Heroes!
What was no more, is now reborn!

Well there's your problem right there.

did the learning channel have that show about that boo boo girl.  The bar has been lowered.

It has been over four months since proof of developer viability was submitted.  Why did you guys send it in the form of a lockbox.
But seriously, I getting frustrated.
What other choice do we have, but wait and be satisfied with monthly updates that purport that no news is good news.

It could be worse. You could find yourself listening to firefly panel excerpts on youtube while working through a Mids build after making sure that you are setup to record this weeks episode of the 50 yr old series Rawhide...

What a sad entertainment life I lead. :)

Cogito, Ergo... eh?

Lowered? They wrapped that bar in lead foil and dropped it into the deepest part of the Marianas Trench. That was a stopgap measure since they may have to retrieve it and commission a borehole into the upper mantle to drop the bar into in order to prepare for next season's shows. There is one upcoming event that may justify developing exotic technologies in order to lower the bar even more than that: Shark Week.

Shark Week is also occasionally used as a euphemism for "that time of the month", but i digress....
So far so good. Onward and upward!

You're not alone in the frustration. I wish a decision could just be made either way. This limbo thing is getting old fast.

I know, I know... I even went out and bought a Smart TV, but it didn't help.  The shows are still stupid.

Ha South Park made an Episode on this very basis. James Cameron Ends up killing Randy Newman to re-raise the bar

One of my favorite episodes. When City of Heroes comes back, someone should make an arc where someone has to "Raise the Bar" as their primary goal. I'd play that in a heartbeat.

Only question is what kind of powers would James Cameron have?

*facepalm*

I love it.

I still catch myself thinking of names for characters. I was grousing a couple weeks ago about how I was really wanting to do a really solid Mayhem Mission to blow off some steam, and realized that a PERFECT name for a bank-robbing uber-destructive villain would be...

... Collateral Damage.

You're making me a sad panda. About a week after shutdown, when I was still firmly believing somehow it was all a legal dodge, that at 30 days and 1 second they'd have our servers back and we'd find it was all some tax bullshit or something, I'd come up with the perfect idea...Antipode, being whatever combo of fire and ice looked interesting at the time I rolled it...

Patience is a life-time virtue to attain.  I am not preaching, I am sitting the in the pew next to you.

The implications that Nate and Team is doing nothing is incorrect.   There are Non-Disclosure Agreements galore and we may not hear a thing for a long time.  If you can't take four months, how about a year?  Anything provocative and NCsoft can kill this and we sit another 2+ years for a window or hope the game can come back.

In the mean time all we can do is post old screen shots, post character concepts, talk about what worked/didn't work in the old game and read Arcana's posts log files.  Very, very interesting.

Willpower for one set
There is always another way. But it might not work exactly like you may desire.

A wise old rabbit once told me "Never give-up!, Trust your instincts!" granted the advice at the time led me on a tripped-out voyage out of an asteroid belt, but hey it was more impressive than a bunch of rocks and space monkies.

You'll be surprised to know there actually was a series of comic books.
We were heroes. We were villains. At the end of the world we all fought as one. It's what we did that defines us.
The end occurred pretty much as we predicted: all servers redlining until midnight... and then no servers to go around.

Somewhere beyond time and space, if you look hard you might find a flash of silver trailing crimson: a lone lost Spartan on his way home.

if they drag this out a year, it will most likely be too late. the IP loses value every month it sits. this isnt something with an innate value like superman or xmen. it is an easily recreatable world thats main value is player familiarity. if VO or COT have modern "versions" of the game available, there really wont be much space left in the niche for a 12 year old game that cant be updated. if this falls through I cant see any one seriously trying again.
