it would be quite wonderful! While "no news is good news" it eventually becomes "swept under the rug"

The one NCSoft rep involved in this is probably hoping that if he waits it out long enough, we'll just quietly fade away, so NC doesn't get another round of bad press.  I just hope it eventually occurs to him that we will never give up, and that they might be subjected to repeated rounds of disappointment in the press meantime.  Then maybe he'll just give in this time around instead.   ;)

or... the negotiations are going extremely well but because of the insanity that occurred on the various boards recently, everyone involved is remaining completely tight-lipped.
If I was a Jedi, there's a 100% chance that I'd use The Force inappropriately.

Been watching this from afar. Thanks to every ones efforts so far.
Waiting for COT and new on this but figured people needed to hear from people like me.

Were out here and still waiting for something better than DCUO and CO.

This is probably the most likely scenario, or is what is the most logical comforting idea there is about the status.

This.

Like I've stated before, they have no use for the IP anymore. People wont trust another City of Heroes project from NCsoft and they know that. They've lost all faith in this IP. Thier best option is to sell, and sell fast, before it's worth even less.
"oh, by the way, we own City of Heroes now: who wants pie."

;D I cannot believe I and others were just reminiscing about CoH tonight - I said I was going to google CoH to see what happened the the game itself remembering when the servers were announced to be shut down back in 2012... and to my delight I stumble upon this news - I've always had great timing but I cannot believe my eyes - exciting times!!!

On that note, thankyou to all the important people bringing this game back online for us all - I cannot wait!

Folks who are negative on NCSoft selling the game - the guy they are dealing with likely had zero interaction with anyone on an earlier effort. This is dead software to them - an afterthought. They are moving forward trying to go to the next "big thing" and this is 2 years old.

The people who may have caused the bad feelings - are not involved in this.

This is just a business deal and you are reading way too much into all of this. From the NCSoft standpoint this is just a selling of an old IP they closed. The server side stuff likely slows it somewhat - I would imagine if it was just getting the IP - the deal would be over. The server software and running the game adds a twist to it. Remember - NCSoft has their logo on the game. You may say - well they turned their back on the game - but it still has their name on it and they want it handled with care.

^ Absolutely, but you can understand people's impatience, right? :p

We just want them to make a decision! The waiting is agony!

I can understand people's impatience, but the impatient people need to understand in turn that there is literally no way that giving vent to that impatience in a public forum can have any positive impact on the process, and it may well have a negative impact. The best case scenario is that the impatient people are ignored, and the worst case scenario is that their comments are taken as an insult to NCSoft. No matter what, it's not going to get us a game any faster. That alone should be enough to keep people from losing their patience with what was always going to be a long, drawn-out process.

Yeah I would imagine if it was just the IP, it would be done already. I don't have a problem with NCSoft making sure that the people who want to run the server actually can, it would be a real shame to have Issue 23 available and not be able to access it because it turned out the people trying to run the server were unable to do so.

That said, I am of course very impatient. I can only imagine how people that have been keeping track of this over the past two years must feel, as I only recently found out there was even a remote possibility of CoH returning.

As someone who was following this long process since page 4 or 5 let me just stress, again, patience. I want the game back as bad an anybody here but jostling the hands of those juggling the chainsaws of this negotiation is dangerous and counter productive. I don't anyone is intending to do so, but it might happen just the same. Let's try and stay positive

I want it yesterday. I want it to never have closed. I want all my stuffz.

But I'll settle for what I can get when I can get it, rather than what I want. I know many feel the same. We have waited this long, we can wait a little longer, especially when the process is still going forward.

BTW, there are few who were angrier than I with NCSoft and while I haven't invited them out for a drink, I am taking a wait and see approach. I advise everyone who has the hate on for NCSoft to do the same.

And I thought you would enjoy something as sweet as agony, my dear Baron.
It takes a village to raise a child. And it takes a villain to explain the value of lunch money.

-Random CoHer: "Why does the sky turn green during Rikti invasions?"
-Me:"Rikti Monkey farts"
-Random CoHer: "I'm going to you for all my questions from now on!"

That was why I hung on as long as I did as the middleman - the pressure is - intense.

You have people in the media, here on the boards, on Facebook and even friends I used to play the game with in real life - all saying what is happening, are we there yet? I know Nate is doing what he can and what NCSoft allows timewise to be spent on this.

Imagine you get handed three projects, the head boss says I need you to evaluate the first two in 3 weeks - the other one work on when you get time..........I don't know for sure but that is kind of what appears to be happening. Back and forth between levels.

That happened to me today! Except the three weeks part.  I got till the end of the day... :O

Everybody involved needs to speed this up. I could be trick or treating right now. And fending off a zombie invasion. I'm really missing the Halloween carnage. And everything else, too.
I'm not really a doctor, but I've played one on Television!

I understand this feeling, I too would love to log in today however, I can't am I regulated to sto or secret world both of which do not take a lot of my time like they use to like cox did when I was playing full bore. Truth be told I would rather wait and get our home back then be tempted to bother Nc to a point where they could say no.
As for the Baron just pull his heart plug :D
One day the Phoenix will rise again.

take as long as you want..

and ps....

get my characters back  ;)

I agree the tone needs less impatience and much much more daydreaming of what we'll do first when CoH does come back online.

I for one am downright giddy with anticipation, but I'm not sure which character I'll remake first.
