I think if PvE'rs don't want to be involved with any pvp then the opposite should be the only fair option. If that becomes the case, great, if not? I don't have a sliver of sympathy when it comes to -one- goal being in a pvp zone.
Works for me.  An all-PVP, everywhere server?  Sure, sounds great.  Let PVE and PVP be neatly separated.

Been a lurker on this board for several years. The good thing (for me) that's come out of these various derailings is I've learned how to use the Ignore function here. :)

So as a pvp'r does that mean all my rewards shouldn't involve any PvE? Why should I have to spend hours farming for rewards? I mean technically if you don't want anything to do with PvP why should I have to suffer through PvE? I don't want to spend hours killing a single mob for some accolade, but I did. I don't want to rinse/repeat missions for incarnate rewards, but I did. I don't want to have to team up with random people to achieve some certain objective to gain levels, but I did. I'm pretty sure you having to spend -maybe- an hour trying to achieve a nuke isn't that big of a deal.

I think if PvE'rs don't want to be involved with any pvp then the opposite should be the only fair option. If that becomes the case, great, if not? I don't have a sliver of sympathy when it comes to -one- goal being in a pvp zone.

should pvp rewards come from pve content? no should pve rewards come from pvp content? no

Exactly.  Let the two be completely separate.

PvP is a heated topic within the CoH community. :P Hence, my not wanting to talk on the subject yet.

Not just an all pvp everywhere server. I want to be able to gain all the rewards a PvE'r gets without doing any pve at all. All pvp servers are easy to find on any game, but I still have to pve. Point being those of us that pvp for the majority of our time realize asking for something like this would be ridiculous and overly time consuming. You could go as far as saying pointless. Like I mean honestly do you think the devs sat around a table and were like "Hey guys let's force these pve'rs to die repeatedly in a pvp zone for teh lulz." It was probably more like "You know we offer very little incentive to pvp in this game yet so many people do it, maybe we should somehow incorporate a small task to allow some exposure to those who would otherwise avoid it all costs and possibly find a new enjoyment in a part of the game they've ignored for so long."

I mean really did you play on freedom or something? Because for the most part Warburg was dead as fault line. I would go there almost everyday for a quick peek and occasionally find an rp group since I played on virtue, outside of that it was almost always empty.

Couldn't agree with you more,  and geting the game at its last state i23 is good enough for me. I think the conversation of what the PvP was going to be like is when Irish_Girl said she would get an earful in what 1.5 would look PvP would look like (boy was she right xD) Also like you said, if PvP is the reason is reason delayed, screw pvp, just get the game and be grateful. Once we have all the piece then worried about it when we cross that bridge
My preferred approach to adding PvP to CoH 1.5 would be to roll back most of the changes. i was never an avid PvP player compared to many of my in game friends, but i enjoyed it much more before the "revamp". Oh, it wasn't completely terribad after the changes, but it was less fun, especially since many of the people who used to put together some of the friendliest, wackiest PvP events i ever played in pretty much stopped PvPing. Also the return of base raids would be a nice bonus for 1.5. Some of my greatest PvP experiences were doing base raids the few times it worked properly.

Regardless, the first thing is getting the game back and revived. Everything after that is gravy.
So far so good. Onward and upward!

My thoughts on PvP.

I suck at it, so I don't do it.

That's exactly where I am at too. I was too lazy to do the "Switch Builds" thing and most of the PVPers I encountered were smack talking dicks anyway. They got pretty lonely hanging out in their zones just waiting for someone to prey on, served'em right.
We're almost there!  ;D

The RNG hates me.

Having BEEN a player wielding a pitchfork and calling for devs heads. I'm quite familiar with how that goes.

I do not hate PVP I played plenty in Dark Ages of Camelot had tons of fun doing Realms wars (RVR) but that game was built ground up with PVP in mined it was part of the game and you did not have to participate but there where some advantages.

My year in rift I played some pvp then again it was there from ground up; now PVP in  War hammer while that entire game sucked so never mined

My issue with COX PVP it was bolted on after the fact I remember the arguments on the forums. I stated the majority of the population is anti PVP you built the game for years as a PVE game and now you are bolting it on you do not have the community to support PVP in the game and it is not designed for good PVP play. I was told I was stupid and it was going to save the game and then it went live and then we where treated to empty arenas of pvp. I mean there where matches but the % was so low all you heard was crickets. In the chat channel people begging people to duel them it was the funniest thing ever.

As you can see I am not anti pvp but bolted on PVP two years after the fact on a game that the large majority of players where pve only centric was just never going to be a success and it was a major flop despite everything they tried

Haha, kind of like the saying " you don't know what it's like until you walk in their shoes. Then you have a whole new appreciation for the work they do." :D

Point of Order, it's not that I disagree with the 'bolted on' problems but the Arena was brought after less than one year and the first PvP zones were in place after 15 months.

If you really like pitchforks try to gloss it over like the playerbase just does not understand what you are talking about and that we are just helping you use other enhancements

Then ignore the 200 page long post in beta before a patch go live about the new regen rate was too high on the new AV's and send it live and have a riot on the live servers then have to come back and admit that you ignored the post and you where wrong that really gets them on your side

Oh and the best one ever HO's we never expect anyone to farm and make builds around them ; talk about WTF moment um have you not watched every other MMO before you UO, EverCrack, DAOC etc etc  ??? not like they where the first major MMO they had what 8+ years of previous MMO history to learn from.

Just a couple lesson the early Devs of COH had to learn  :P

I forgot what order they came in dam old age catching up with me. Like I said I am not anti-pvp I enjoy it in some games just not COH and yes I tried it several times. I felt sorry for the PVP players on the last PVP update I really did because it just destroyed what there was left of the PVP crowd and made things stupid and a complete mess
