Just for the record, no kb hate at all from me, but I do personally prefer no kb. The god of kb has sensed this, and has since punished me. Here is an actual conversation between my 5 year old and myself a short while ago:

me: So, what powers do you want if the CoH servers come back?
my son: I want to shot lighting out of my hands
me: Ok, what else
my son: I want to fly
me: ok, anything else?
my son: I want to be able to make lightning clouds
me: <pauses briefly wincing in pain> ok... we can do that.

So, I'll be teaming with a 5 year old storm defender...

Or you could go elec/storm corruptor.

Either way it will be majestic and awesome. Especially in the hands of a 5 year old. Although if you go Defender you can try to convince him to take O2 Boost instead of Gale since Gale in the hands of a 5 year old... could be the stuff of legend, actually.  ;D

Yeh, lots of options to make the build he wants. Defender, Controller, Corrupter, or even Mastermind with epics for lightning, but that "Lightning storm clouds" request is what is going to kill me. Storm is the only way to get that I believe. He has been in mids today and saw all the storm powers. I fully expect Tornado and Hurricane every fight as he likes the animations. I expect nightmares tonight.

This is the first 3 day weekend I can recall wanting to be over quicker.

Plant/Storm all the way.  (my favorite build btw)   Root the mobs and Storm away - they wont KB anywhere. :)

I'd suggest you run a MM with him.  The pets won't complain about the KB.  I ran a Ninja/Storm MM and it was glorious to solo with.

That knockback to knock down IO is great for storm.
