How about a #SaveCoH movie talking about how we brought City of Heroes back instead of original CoH movie. I can't image what the actors and actresses role in playing the Freedom Phalanx I just can't.....that's my opinion. I always wanted a #SaveCoH movie if we pull this off. And IF we do I will be begging to make a movie.  ;)

I hope when it's all said and done, you can provide a timeline of who did what and when, for the official history, Ironwolf.

Given that not only does NCSoft need to sell the game, but the buyers need to set up servers, get things ready, etc, I'd assume this is a safer bet.

I'd like pre-halloween too, it just seems fairly unlikely.

Quite.  If indeed this Christmas we're in the Ski Chalet, we're doing good, schedule-wise.

I'll take whatever I can get, after giving it a think. I'm more attached to my Kheldian's name and concept than hellbent on getting her back 100%. Should it be a fresh start, then I can enjoy playing her all over again!

I made a lot of mistakes with account layout and I'd be pretty ok with a do-over if it happened, but I wouldn't pull the trigger on them if it doesn't, either. Enough luck's came my way that it's not going to be a devastating loss.

Above anything else, I just want the game back!

My 1st thought would be that the buyers are somehow related to Paragon Studios but were not involved in the actual running of the game, like (HYPOTHETICAL EXAMPLE!!) Sean Fish or Zwillinger or someone.  But Rob's comments that it is a huge game-changer makes me think some names more famous but not MMO-related, like a celeb who secretively played the game etc...

Totally out of left field here....Garriott! He has more money than God and every reason in the world to want to do this...he may very well be the most motivated person on Earth given past history. OTOH I'm not sure they'd deal with him.

Steam also has an offline mode and any game that you buy that THE PUBLISHER does not require an internet connection to play will work just fine.

The value Steam adds is a central place for all the games you buy, regular and consistent patching that you don't have to worry about, very good sales, outlets for games that don't fit brick and mortar sales model and a good way to keep up to date on the games you like.

It's all fun and games til a lightning strike wipes you out, or a virus forces you to nuke it all without being able to safely salvage any, or an unexpected hard drive failure eats it. Then you're INSANELY GLAD for Steam's convenient and helpful features....

Yup, plural of "mongoose" is "mongooses."

In a slight tangent, go look up how Marvel's The Whizzer (Bob Frank) got his powers.  It involves his getting super speed from mongoose blood.  He wore a bright yellow costume and ran pretty fast.  :)

That's terrifying in more ways than one.

Especially after Synapse went over with me why the code sucked so much.

If you ever want to see code that can make your eyes bleed, take a look through the Minecraft code...

Oddly, the mongoose is apparently not important (common?) enough to be included on any of the compiled internet lists of group names for animals, like a "congress of baboons." (Please, before you do it, the joke's been overdone.)

And, did anyone else read that description of the Whizzer and picture Charlie Sheen cosplaying the blue and yellow costumed Wolverine?
I wouldn't use the word "replace," but there's no word for "take over for you and make everything better almost immediately," so we just say "replace."

Robert knew more than a lot of folks here understand and please no personal attacks. He was about 95% sure before he asked me. Robert and I have spoken before about other things and he has never been anything but kind even when people were calling for my head.
In my line of work we have these things called Golden Parachutes.  These are people who come in at the conclusion of what looks like it will end as a successful project.  They miss all of the truly hard work, but are on the team long enough that they get respect 'enough' from the team.

Robert kind of dropped in with his parachute from the private arena to the public arena.  Tony is also dropping in from private to public.  Both have provided the means for me to cope with CoH loss because of their FB pages, but for this cause they have been relatively quiet.   Disclaimer: No one cares, we just care that we get to play CoH again.

I believe from reading posts here the majority get that there's no certainty around anything Robert said or what you said or what Tony said.  I believe this poor Robert guy who, like you mentioned, got to wear your shoes for a day saw and felt the sting from what you get for being the barer of news like you've been doing.  Our Paragon Times on the beat news reporter since March.  Tony was SO RIGHT to delete that post.. OMG.. I don't even want to think about that being on FB any longer than it was.

Things are what they are .. and ...

Everyone knows whether you (IRONWOLF) like it or not, that because of you we (the people on this forum) were able to hope again after you put your thoughts out their publicly and you (oops!) became a lightning rod of hope for news that "may" be 3 days away.   You have never publicly or privately even commented on anything I've said because I usually illustrate a great deal of thanks to you for helping so many people to dare to dream.  I love when people help out innocent people in a caring manner, selfish or not.

There is no such thing as over or too humble.  You've done us a service by breaking news when you did and when you thought it was best.  From thoughts to actions, we are all very thankful.

As the golden parachutes come in and take credit for your efforts (positive or negative) and provide news to the "starving for CoH hope" it's good to know you won't care as much as you will care we have an answer to who and IF and that you'll be just as jazzed as the rest of us IF we are playing our game again in our City of Heroes.

Cheers and thanks again Iron Wolf!

My next documentary is investigating what makes the City of Heroes community unique amongst MMO communities. If it turns out that CoH comes back, you can bet your silky undercape that I'm going to include that aspect as well!

One of my suspicions was the lack of faction PvP for the first 15 months of the game, then the continuation of majority support for PvE afterwards.  Another was the percentage distribution of influence and experience for defeating an enemy instead of giving all rewards to the person who dealt the death blow.  Those initial factors led to the hyper-competitive players and griefers moving to other games in the first year, leaving a community that did not feel the need for one-upmanship or kill stealing.
