So has anyone else of late felt like opening up Mids and tinker with some of their old builds?

I just finished adjusting and upgrading my near permacharge Powersurge build for electric armor brute and near permacharge unstoppable for an invul brute.
i still use Mids for my fire/fire tank and TW/SR brute
Nahar 50 Energy/Energy Blaster
DraconicSins 50 Fire/Fire Tank

Quite.  If indeed this Christmas we're in the Ski Chalet, we're doing good, schedule-wise.

Well, admittedly, it's not the same without the servers, but I used ICON to get to Pocket D and happened to be spawned right inside the ski slopes. Flew up, and the yellow trail markers were missing and there was no timer - but I took off anyway. Sadly, it was a shortlived thrill - that portal that takes you to the second part of the run, it wasn't there. Still, it was almost as good as Christmas.

You're ignoring that once the game is back we can make our own found footage movie using captured footage! We need to plan voices nooooow.

The most fitting day for the game to reopen would probably be November 30th. A day of tragedy would then become a day of rejoice.

I do like the symmetry of it, but not so much that it should wait until November 30, 2015 if this year's isn't possible.

Haha, yeah.  And hey, whatever day CoH relaunches (if it ever does) will be a day that takes on its own meaning for everyone.   :D

First, PvP by its self does not necessarily bring with it a negative or hostile community.  Im of the opinion that RvR will be a natural fit and essential part of success if CoH2 happens.

I believe Squints had mentioned something about an idea for an RvR scenario quite awhile ago in this thread. Back when there was a discussion about what city CoH2 should take place in. I don't remember any of the particulars, but maybe he will see this and bring it back up.

As long as it is not made mandatory and is held in it's own zones where  I never have to see it or hear the inevitable trash talk, have at it.

Nope..but I dont need an Issue 24 Mids to be Issue 24 compliant... City of Data and Paragon Wiki let me know what changes were to occur and i can build around those changes

Question on Icon graphics:

when I do a print screen image capture of a character while running Icon, the resulting image is darker than expected.

Is there a reason for this? Aside from my machine, hopefully.

This is the version of Mids that I am using. I am pretty sure it was the last updated version of Mids 1.962.

If its the same one you are referencing while back (think it is lost in page 200-400 somewhere) it was the idea of ESO like AvA (Alliance Vs Alliance ) The core of the game will act like pre i13 pvp (no travel power penalty unless attacking, no diminishing returns on healing or IOs, no 1 shot mez, control worked like how they used to (you can stack holds, but will last for the final hold after that hold wears off, you have that 20 second control immunity till the next stack, -movement speed works again etc).

The best way to describe this would be like Reculse Victory PvP zone (I think RV tried to achieve the form of RvR, but they made it into the water down version we got to be more casual), where you have to capture the nodes to gain control of the map, except alot more elaborated. The difference between RV and ESO AvA PvP

Means of Capture and Defending Nodes
CoX RV:
The nodes were an all in one static node. To take it you just DPS down the 4 turrets with your heavy. The heavy would act like the siege weapon equivalent of ESO siege weapon. The problem with this form is Siege PvP was you are solo dependent to have one of these robots to take down a node. That means you need to retrieve it walk it to the node, wait for it to get to the node, target the node and basically wait and defend your robot while it takes out the turrets.

This wasn't that fun because it didn't make you feel super powered in any shape or form because you are relying on a outside medium to do most of your heavy lifting, then baby sit that medium, and anytime you try attacking the turrets, you do nothing. Not to mention when there are people who take the robots to just farm in a PvP zone. Those where limited quantity, thus ruining the whole concept of RV altogether

Defending it was even less dynamic. You just stand in the turret control that is easily target able and very static. Focus fire the guy with the robot to make him loose the robot then clean up. That's it.

ESO:

ESO has it so every individual has the ability to carry siege weapons. This makes the player actually feel more involved and actually makes them want to carry around siege weapons and base defenses because they can deploy them themselves (instead of relying on something that is limited) When you deploy a siege weapon, you have the power to dish out powerful attacks not to just the base defense, but to players too. The trade off is of course your immobilized, so ground aoes will mess you up bad and the siege weapons can be "1 shotted" if the opposing team gets into melee range, dose a 5 seconds animation where he is torching the siege weapon

Lessons from ESO that can be applied to CoX RV:

Since we are a super hero game, we won't be lugging wooden catapults around and attack the node, however, we need to address siege weapons are pretty powerful and you need to some how make it detrimental for using them for the trade off of their power. My solution for this is "Orgin Based Boost"

What are Orgin Based Boost? Orgin Based Boost are one time use consumables (you can carry multiple) that will transform your toon into a true superpower siege machine. The effects will last for 3-5 minutes and allow your character to use enhance version of already existing powers. For balance, there will be a CD after the duration of consumable so you can't chain them up and become invincible. The orgin based boost runs out broken up into two categories: Mobile and Immobile:

Immobile: Like the name stats, you are immobile, but you dish alot of power out. Think of this mode, you are a artillery. The categories that fall under this would be mutant, magic, and science. Note you don't need to be those orgin to use them, but each orgin will have a different effects

(Note: All of these are just sudo numbers to make explaining easier)

Mutant: Animation will be you bulk up in a similar fashion of Champions online "Giant Growth" power. with this your attacks on building and enemy adds are 70% more effective, 50% more effective against other players, with a 30% defense/resistance buff) You are immobilized

Science: Animation, you inject a serum into you and your eyes will glow like a blight. Your attacks on building and enemy adds is 150% more effective, 100% more effective aginst other enemies, but you will suffer a 50% defense/resistance debuff. You are immobilized

Magic: Animation will be you pull a crystal out of your pocket or open a book and the powers will go around you. You will have rune words wrapped around you. Your attacks on building will be 100% more effective, 30% more effective on other players, and gain no defense/resistance buff)

Mobile: These will be from the technology and natural tree. The act like tanks or battering ram in ESO. You go inside these machine you loose all of your powers and use the powers of the machine. There will be different machines that will do different things and will be too long to list. You can go in and out and other people can take over these machines too.  Course these are mobile they will have a lower attack bonus on siege and general power output compared to the immobilized versions. These machines will have a separate HP bar and you can eject whenever the machine gets too low. If you don't eject in time, you will be instantly killed from the machine blowing up.

There also should be a way to repair a node too to prepare for the next siege if the initial siege failed

The Nodes and how score was kept:

CoX RV:

The nodes were a very basic all in one capture the flag style and the game doesn't end till someone capture all the nodes. Going back to what was said about the current siege weapon format and how people will take them to just farm, rarely this will get completed. The only positive of actually capturing a node was you get 4 immobile turrets and some small patrols will protect the nodes. If your node was damaged, there was no way to repair them either

ESO:

Each node is a stronghold. The strongholds are fortified by 3 sub nodes. These subnodes were the farm (helps gives stronger patrols), mine (fortifies the strength of the wall) lumber mill (fortifies the strength of the doors) To make capture of these strongholds easier, you need to first deactivate the subnodes before laying siege. This actually takes some degree of coordination even in a zerging mode. Each nodes will give a certain amount of points per hour.  Point is tracked by the "Battle Season" this means the game time is 1 month and whoever Alliance has the most points will get a reward till the next season. Each node gives out different amount of point (not real numbers, just an example: the subnodes will give you 1 point, strongholds will give 3, keeping the elder scrolls will give 10) This gives reward to the entire faction instead of the individual and encourages team coordination even in a zerg.

Lessons from ESO that can be applied to CoX RV:

In a similar fashion, you can have a PvP event last for a month, instead of TBD whenever someone captures all the nodes. This will give an active clock ticking where any faction can change the outcome over the course of the month. (So basically adopting a similar system) Instead of doors (because people can fly in CoX) The sub nodes will modify, forcefields (capture power plant), defense turrets (capture machinery room), and adds (capture armory)

Factions:

CoX RV:

Only Heroes and Villians, very linear

ESO:

3 factions. Makes the battles more dynamic because you need to always worry about your flank if you attack another faction.

Lessons from ESO that can be applied to CoX RV:

Make a third faction. There are heroes and there are villains. Make an official "Gray area group" that will attack both and heroes and villains will attack them. Plus for storyline purposes (PvE), having a third faction would be intresting
Rewards:

Rewards:

CoX RV:
This was the most disappointing thing about RV. All that work you put into capturing all the nodes, you get a smaller, crappier temp pet version of the robots you controlled :/ Nothing else. At least they could have give us a costume piece of a T-Shirt that reads "I PvPed and all I got was this T-Shirt"

ESO:

There are many levels of rewards for PvP in ESO. First is about the factions
When you win a season, your faction gets a boost. I don't know what the boost is because I quit ESO after the first month (Devs didn't fix several PvP glitches that made the game not fun anymore) Probably it was double XP for that faction

Looking at the map of Cyrodill. and yes if you ever played "Oblivion", this Cyrodill is just as big as that. If you don't have a mount, have fun because it literally takes 15 minutes to walk from one end to another, (people started calling ESO PvP the running simulator if they didn't have mounts), but we are playing a super hero game, we don't need to worry about mounts

https://i747.photobucket.com/albums/xx116/robertclark1981/Cyrodiil_full_pvp_map_zps2e8cfea2.png

If one Alliance captures all of the middle nodes, they get an emperor. The entire faction gets a buff. Although this is a team effort, ESO also rewards individual performance. The person with the highest battle points (this is calculated from how much damage, healing, supporting you do) from the faction who has the emperor ship will become the emperor and have additional buff until he is decrowned. (when they die, someone supersedes him in points, or if they loose control of any of the middle nodes) There are also Elder Scrolls you can capture and each Alliance has two. Have more than two in your position and you get Alliance buffs that carry over to PvE also (an intensive for your faction to PvP and retain the scrolls) Note: If your alliance looses the scroll, your faction WILL NOT be punished in any shape or form.

Lessons from ESO that can be applied to CoX RV
Setup a system like ESO where it will reward the entire faction for a group effort, but will also reward the individual for going beyond the call. Also the rewards from PvP will roll down to PvE, but Never will loosing anything in PvP will have a negative effect on PvE (that will just make Pvers mad).

TL:DL This is a pipe dream, but it is always fun to dream :P

I was digging in the closet for my old game disks and came across my CoH/CoV box. I had the original box copy of CoH, the original softcover copy of CoV, the Architect Edition, all of my posters, and... my notebook. I had forgotten about my notebook. Anytime I needed to remember something game-related it went in the notebook. From front to back it reads like a nine year timeline of my CoX life. First page - original account username and password! Nearly every toon build including slotting and changes. Lists of names and variations, scratched out the ones that were taken. Costume sketches. SG/VG hall layout plans and sketches. Apparently somewhere near that vile, despicable day my primary account main was in possession of $11, 398, 244, 712. I actually teared up looking through this thing and it has doubled my anticipation. The funniest part is seeing how very little I knew when I first started playing. Nothing but reds in EVERY slot on my brute?

Mongeese.
I can't think of anything clever to place here as I am currently over-caffeinated on very little sleep. All the cool people have a signature, so I will drop random text here trying to fit in.

We should expect this "news" on here right? Not fb?  It feels like a stupid question but one I think needs to be asked with recent events.
