New efforts!

UnReal4 has MMO support that UnReal3 did not.

With UnReal3 the MMO support had to be custom written, in UnReal4 it is part of the engine.

Iron is there any new news at all...at all??? Hungry for news!!!

Fridgy Daiere

The team has said that they would let us know when the deal is done, but also that they would tell us if the deal dies, so no news is good news; it means that the deal is still moving forward.

It also makes it easier to keep up with this thread!   ;)

People bring in more people. So, since teaming is attractive to many players people went where it was easier to team. CoV side wasn't nearly as popular after the 1st year but I really welcomed Going Rogue as it allowed me to get teams with my um "Rogues" which was the most common status of my Villains.

It might be possible to just have "open" side swapping so you can go where the teams are without the side swapping quests. Generally, I just leveled my Villains to 20 then go rogue, then do the patron arc at 40 then go full hero or stay rogue.

I am currently playing swtor. unless its a ops group you are limited to 4. if 5 friends show up, tough luck. also, scaling for party size is horrible. they literally have bosses dropping from the ceiling after you agro the group. no planning possible.

Well...back in the day, getting to that mission deep in the Hollows led you to a rather lengthy guantlet in a zone with no hospital, so you'd rez back in Atlas Park or Skyway, depending on which city you'd entered the Hollows from - more than likely Atlas. And then you had to try and get there again, unless you were fortunate to have someone on the team with recall friend, and that friend actually got there.

The challenge was worth the effort initially. But once we got those nifty temp powers and a travel power early on, there was really nothing compelling about revisiting the story. At least, not for me. I like sitcoms, but I'm not going to watch the same one each day or each week.
The thrill of the sewers was you had literally a team of new characters leveling up very fast - much faster than the story arcs, simpy because you weren't bogged down with that traveling to and fro. A good collection of players will create dialogue - which is generally more entertaining than a story you've already experienced.
Just my two cents.

frostfire was what got my wife and I hooked on COH..I lost 34 50's when they shut down...

I think the thing that has me kind of bummed in the midst of the euphoria of hope that I may play CoH again is the time between now and then! Seems like things are dragging and from what I read it is going to take a while to get the game running once it is purchased. I suppose my passion for news is centered in the hope someone is going to tell me the game will be up and running sooner rather than later! Either way...I am just thankful to think it may soon be running at all!

Soooo many 50's here as well :(  Soon, hopefully.
Reminder: No game = No data, no characters...nothing.  However, no data/characters != No game.

I agree, but whoever is doing this needs time to thoroughly think the mess of issues out there.  The fact anyone is working on this is good enough knowledge.

NCSoft decided they wanted the team to prove technical competence.

That added time onto what is already a slow process. If you have ever closed on a house and had to work through all the paperwork - then you understand part of what is going on. It is not a simple sale it is potentially a multimillion dollar transaction or at least the potential gain/profit is in the millions of dollars - no one with any sense would rush into that sort of a deal without all things in place.

That is part of why some failed in the past.

I will ask for an update.

Love you man! So thankful for what you are doing. I don't know why exactly but I just have a feeling all of this is going to come together sooner than we think. Look forward to hearing new news!

Because of this, it delays talks on the sale until this hurdle is achieved. There is news it is just that once they prove what they can do the rest should be easier.

Am I interpreting this correctly when I assume the "Devs To Be" (D2B), have to setup a clickdemo, or something similiar, to showcase their savvyness?

Also, I'd love to see the something.

If it was me asking, I'd firstly ask them to solve an existing problem as that's mainly what they'd do with the code given. Working example code is great, but they'll be taking over a messy chunk of code that likely will need lots of fixing. To me, if you can fix other peoples mistakes in already existing code, you likely know how to program. Now if that didn't convince me I'd ask for a working sample of something that would convince me. Then I would want samples of the possible sequel, because it'd be important to me to see if there was a viable plan.  That is assuming that the seller has that interest.

...dammit I'm speculating now >.< But anyway, I think it's good that they're being tested - that to me says that there is genuine interest of this going well from the sellers side. I have faith!

The addition of the new lowbie missions in Atlas park should not have subtracted from the existing lowbie missions. I honestly don't understand the logic of ripping the old arcs out to jam the new one down our throats...

Isn't there room for both?

Because the old arcs, as others have pointed out, weren't arcs. They were basically newspaper missions from an era before newspaper missions existed. There was no continuity to them from one mission to the next, they could be given out of order, and they were deliberately kept ultra-simple for players who needed to get used to the gameplay and who needed a basic introduction to the factions of the game. I agree, as does pretty much everyone discussing this from what I can tell, that more arcs would be great. But bringing back the old contacts isn't a solution, because they just wouldn't hold up to the later standards the game had for their stories.

Also, for those that wondered why every single one of their characters encountered the same cop with a missing wife, my character Nowhere Woman could explain it to you. Paragon City exists in an unstable timeloop where the various timelines of the different characters were no longer synchronized. You each had to progress through the timeline individually before you could synch up properly. That was also why some villains seemed to ignore you and focus on whatever they were doing until you attacked them--your timestreams weren't quite matched up. :)

I have faith that it is going to happen; they are going to nail it and we are getting COH back.

So for a little movie reference

Who were these heroic mystery men who saved our city ?
