The Hollows. I loved it. Absolutely loved it. It's how I found my supergroup. We would go on "patrol" and fly around teleporting, buffing, healing ect folks trying to survive.

It also taught me very early on what aggrivating range was and how to avoid mobs. Also helped my main was illusion, love invis <3.

Auto corrected Agro to aggrivated range. I supose that works too.

Was it really possible to go 1 - 50 in one day? That's crazy.

You can do that but, the problem was that if you level your character 1-50 in one day the game will automatically delete your character. I had a friend who did that and he told me his character was deleted. So be careful. What I would do I would log off, wait the next day and level my character to 50.

HEATSTROKE

While it has been well documented across this thread and other that I would prefer if my character data was restored because I have a desire to play my level 50's again, what I have to vocalize is what I believe is a misconception.

That misconception is that everyone starting over again will lead to lower zones being populated again. I will say this.. any experienced player even without AE can do enough sewer teams to level RIGHT past the lower zones.. People that have been playing an appreciable amount of time know how to level quickly.

Also I believe that it is a fallacy to believe that if everyone's character data were to be restored that no one would play lower level characters. I believe this is a myopic view. There are so many things that people have yet to try. I myself have at least 3-5 builds that I never got a chance to make before the game shut down. Most people I have met would describe themselves as Altoholics.. constantly making new creations.. Add to that the possibility of an Issue 24 release with new powersets and you will see a great many people trying new and different things..

Just my thoughts..

I'm so on the same boat with you. After the shutdown was announced, I reeeeeeally distanced myself from the game. I think I thought it would make things easier? Almost like getting the 'pain' of saying goodbye over with sooner rather than later. But I definitely have moments where I thoroughly regret not hanging in there till the bitter end with everyone.

...But alas, here's hoping I'll get a second chance to redeem myself. *fingers crossed*

Here's hoping we get a chance to play but never have to worry about a sunset again ;)

I've felt that its generally better to put something out late that works well than something on time that is broken. In the case of shadow shard and hollows, they both had the potential for being really cool zones while they were fixed, the damage was already done. Well Hollows issues were fixed pretty well, Shadow Shard was somewhat addressed but still incomplete. Striga and croatoa were both well done from the start.

Definitely true, though what I did like about Hollows as opposed to Shadow Shard was very often you had new players there. Out of there depth quite open to help, I think I taught people more in the Hollows then anywhere else.

Still the stigma stood and I did avoid it for the most part, whereas as you say I never avoided Croatoa, I mean who could avoid Croatoa it was just so fantastic.

Yes! I still remember the first time I got level clearance to enter the Hollows. What a great zone to teach you the importance of "mob mentality" and how your "squishy" characters would become crucial for teams. My rad/rad defender spent plenty of time there guiding new SG members (as in new players) through the area and bailing them out of aggro'ed doom in the far sectors of the zone. God I want to log in.

Never seen that. I lvled up 2 lvl 1-50s in one day and that didn't happen

I never saw that either.  I got my Elec/Shield scrapper up to 50 in one day during a double XP weekend.  And he wasn't deleted.

Paragon Avenger

That reminds me of something that happened to me on the Hollows.  I was being helped by some higher levels as I was new to the game.  I told to attack some trolls or outcasts and after I killed them, I was asked about XP.  I told them that they were gray.  So we went looking for higher level prey.  I stepped on a rock and was attacked by marshmallow men.  I died and the higher level players were telling me to stay away from those.  I hit the wrong button and replied that they were gray.
Loads of lol's
What a fun place was the Hollows.

Paragon Avenger

OK, I'm a noob.  I never ever never leveled a character from 1 to 50 in a single day.  I did it in a week, thank you rikti monkeys.

If accounts aren't recoverable, I see three main options.

1.  Everyone gets everything
2.  Everyone gets nothing
3.  Everyone gets something, but the same something

At least that way, we'd all start on an even footing.
I like option 1.

It depends on how he leveled his character.  There were ways you could earn silly stupid amounts of XP but you had to be skilled/knowledgeable enough to do it.  And then there were the exploits that took advantage of something that was broken.

There were some exploits where they did catch people using it and deleted the characters, i do remember them saying at one point that they knew about a certain exploit and warned people if they used it there would be consequences.  but then other things they didn't condone, but took the stance of, don't draw attention to yourself and we'll "not see anything".

Granting all parts to subscribers could work, but I don't think the mechanics are there to handle that. Putting them all in cash shop would definitely work, however.
I don't know how you figure it would be easier or harder to grant everything.  We know they'll have to reinvent the  wheel either way.  In fact, recreating the cash shop may very well be the hardest part for all we know.  Maybe not.

But saying "definitely work" is premature IMO.

I like option 1.

If we didn't get it for free and they bundled everything from the old boosters and vet rewards into a ~$200 package I'd have a hard time keeping from reflexively putting in my credit card info.

The hollows were nothing compared to I1 where you learned aggro range by running the Perez park maze at lvl 7!!

What if you can buy a one time purchase and get everything - for free? You won't need paragon points then! Then if they do make a store for extras - BONUS!

Shut up and take my money.  :'(

That only happens if you level 1-50 in AE using a known exploit like rikti comm officers. Then Matt Miller personally deletes your character and rages at you.

True story. And it was the most epic thing he ever did as lead developer.

Guilty! My group photo in Multimedia only shows the characters that I could fit into one photo without having to pull back and lose more detail. I could only stack them so high, after all. :/

(It only now occurred to me to check Icon for the ability to make a spawned NPC hover. I could re-do it with a fourth, higher row. Hmmm....)
