Remember we still don't know what business model they will use - F2P or subscription.
There is also Guild War's "Buy to Play" option.

I think if everything that was available, but cost-gated or for whatever reason not available know (pre-order perks) should be either made available for those that 'Purchase' the game like a normal retail product or granted to all. I have no problem with either. I think I may have been one reward short of all the veteran rewards, but I had everything else available including all the super pack unlocks(actually perhaps I was missing some Marketplace Pieces that didn't really apply to any of my characters), and I think it's only fair it be made as universally available as possible both to players and for the new developers. It would be much easier to apply those unlocks universally and only track new additions.

I think that the payment model might depend quite a bit on how much extra funds the new owners have, which would decide how much extra cash they'd need, and how quickly they might need it.

If the sale of COH by NCSoft is contingent upon NCSoft retaining some sort of distributor role or income-sharing, I'd imagine a large part of the final negotiation involve micro-transactions for items like powersets, in-game items, account services, etc.

If so, plan to have to repurchase everything if account data is not recovered and we start from scratch. That's just too much revenue to give away. Sorry, but like the closing of COH itself, business is business.*

Rather, pray mightily we keep the old store model and pricing structure -- and that NCSoft doesn't try emulating more, um, aggressive MMO models or move to a Lock Box structure. COH had the least painful, least intrusive micro-transaction structure of any MMO I've encountered.

(*Not my personal druthers. However, if getting COH back hinges on shelling out for micro-transactions to repurchase my vet rewards/powersets/etc. I'm for repurchasing them. Seal the deal first; then adjust afterwards. If NCSoft doesn't sell, the rest doesn't matter.)

C'mon 300!

By August / September timeframe, we may see 800  :P

I'd love to get everything for free but I'd be fine with having everything available through a combination of automatically, game play, or a store front.  If they do vet rewards they should give them at a very accelerated rate.

I had a lot of purchases, both in the old sets (like the Wedding pack, the Martial Arts pack, dual pistols, etc) and and the new store (SBOs, rocket board), and since I have money to throw around I'd buy them again (hopefully at discounted prices from the original price).

I used CIT before they even joined the Titan network! But then I left for a long ol' time, and came back. Now I edit the wiki.

I'm working on sorting the Lore AMAs so that questions are easily found and linked: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Lore_AMA/Sorted Tell me what you think!

I think this sums up my general attitude pretty well. I'll subscribe to one of their games as a thank you if the deal goes through.

I might subscribe, but I do not know.  It all depends on what money I have available and if anything appeals to me.

I have lifetime subs to Star Trek Online and Lord of the Rings Online, so I have been able to keep myself busy.  But...

I miss Paragon City.  I miss badge hunting.  I miss all that is in our game.  I already have 4 others waiting on the news as well from the crew I normally ran with.  We all miss Paragon.

We want to come home.

If accounts aren't recoverable, I see three main options.

1.  Everyone gets everything
2.  Everyone gets nothing
3.  Everyone gets something, but the same something

At least that way, we'd all start on an even footing.

I may not have used a lot of the costume options from the Super Boosters and such, but I'd rather have them than not have them.

Mind you, if I had to buy them again, I wouldn't shed a lot of tears over it, as you know, we'd be playing CoH....

Is really funny to me just how long it takes to get a game up and running again after it closes...you would think it would simply be a matter of flipping a switch...but I am not a techie and never claimed to be

Realistically, had it been shutdown with care and with the understanding that it may be used again, it would have been fairly close to this simple.  Sadly, that wasn't the case.
Reminder: No game = No data, no characters...nothing.  However, no data/characters != No game.

Yea...I suppose it was thought to be gone forever. After reading how long it will take to get it back up I was left a little down today...but just to think we might get to play again at all makes me happy!!! Very thankful for those working to put this together...very thankful for NCSoft's willingness to sell and really looking forward to the fruits of all the labor going on behind the scenes right now!

Those estimates are 100% pure guesswork. Don't take them as gospel.

Thanks for all the b-day wishes....

Also, there's got to be a nifty forum title for the name "Wammo"....lol

....are we there yet?

Thank you :), I was reading and watching fraps videos and they were talking about needing a lot of hd memory. I can make my level 1 to 50 walkthrough :)

Install CoH on both computers. Demorecord on the better computer, play them back and convert them to video files on the computer with the larger hard drive. If all you're doing is walkthroughs, you won't need to worry AS MUCH about video quality, but you'll still need to keep it in mind.

One thing I found with my mic is that it tends to have background noise(this was while recording for minecraft).  Any ideas?  I'm starting to look, I mostly just want to see if I can cut down on the static some and am taking suggestions.
Currently; Not doing any streaming, found myself with less time available recently.  Still playing starbound periodically, though I am thinking of trying other games.  Don't tell me to play mmohtg's though please :).  Getting back into participating in VO and the successors again to.

I had heard that so far, they don't have the source code just a disk image of the game at the point of closure and little to no actual documentation on how to run the game or the notes you use when compiling the code.

If it is at this level they will have to get a server running with as close as possible to the original and then fire the game up. Once running you have to reverse engineer it - unless some of this stuff can be found later through another source. The Devs don't appear too worried and in fact this lack helps reduce the price as it will require significant work to get running.

It was not shutdown with a mind to selling. It was closed with a mind to retain the IP and thats about it. In fact for those who may or may not be creating a SCoRE effort - this is wonderful. They would have an extremely hard time proving you used anything except the names and such for characters. I think in the same manner as Earth and Beyond - if you just put it out in the wild, very little would be done.

Now out of respect for the New Devs - I hope they at least give the courtesy of a heads up to a stand alone - basically have the work done in case of a future sunset and then flinging it out into the wild. Just my opinion :)
