Now, top that off with a bunch of money you're investing and see where your ulcer goes!

Hooooooly crap, yes!  Seriously, the last thing we should be doing is put MORE stress on the people ON OUR SIDE!  These guys are trying to get the game back so that we'll be able to have it in some form again.  It's better than what NCSoft did for us, so why the hell would we want to stress these guys?

Let's calm it down, please.

I would just like to say - please keep the thoughts positive about the purchase of the game. It is sort of freaking out the Devs seeing themselves being picked apart based on speculation.

If you can't keep things positive it will drastically reduce what information I will be getting. Facebook..........yes I am looking at you! Complete speculation on where the game is going when they don't have the game yet - is not wise.

I have tried to treat everyone like adults and give you what I can. There is a lot of pressure on these folks and they are feeling it. To ponder on what ifs and then act as if those what ifs are the truth - is silly.

Let me try and clear all the speculation up:
1. A team is trying to get the game.
2. They are getting closer.
3. They want to get the old game running if it is at all possible with Issue 24.
4. They want to move forward with CoH2 as well.

That is in a nutshell what we have. It is wonderful to think about the future - but we don't have a future - yet. Please pass this on - especially you Facebook folks!

I think you have several things going on..

First off I have found in general that there is a lot of speculation and its hard to curtail peoples imaginations and thoughts. You have speculation about why the game ended. You have speculation about whether it made money. You have speculation about whether or not F2P killed the game. You have speculation about what should happen with the game... etc etc etc etc.. Thats GOING to continue.. there is nothing that can be done about that..

There is always going to be a cadre of people who are suspicious and negative. Its in their nature. They havent been taught to hope. They have been taught trust only what you can see and what you can prove. They will not believe what anyone else says.. They have a level of distrust and they will always have that..

In the absence of their being any media reports.. and there SHOULD NOT BE ANY at this junction.. Many things by people are going to be taken with a grain of salt.. and some with a pound of salt..

You are NEVER going to please everyone.. even people that played the game complained about stuff in the game constantly. They didnt like this.. or that.. some didnt like the market.. some did.. Some didnt like Side switching.. some did.. etc etc etc.. Some didnt like the new Hamiraid and preferred the old one (thats me).. Thats another reality..

But that being said.. the MAJORITY of people want the game back.. and thats whats causing the excitement..

I have been directing people on Facebook to this forum.. basically saying... if any news is going to be reported.. check IronWolf's posts..If its going to be reported here first.. anything else is speculation...

My comment to the New Developers/Owners

Dont allow the negativity of the vocal minority quell the desire to continue to press forward..
Youve gone this far..see it through to the end.. whatever that end may be.. Hopefully success..

I sympathize with them, as I feel the same way. The new developers should learn to expect this sort of thing from the angry mobs that are the players. For even the smallest of nerfs may cause them to bring out the torches and pitchforks. Bringing this game back to life? That is where even the angels fear to tread.

I understand this; I WAS this, in CoH. There are nerfs that have me thinking, "This is a superhero game, and they don't want us feeling super-powered? That's ridiculous!" But in the end, I recognize that they're working to keep the game balanced: challenging and fun, without being cakewalk easy or frustratingly hard. And I'm behind them on that.

I personally have chosen to entirely refrain from any CoX buyout comments on Facebook at this point. Too many people reading into everything said by anyone just exaggerates the whole situation. IMHO, I think it's not too much to ask people who really want this deal to go through to refrain from public idle speculation, for the time being.

There is no fear. The new team isn't NCsoft. What happened to the game wasn't their fault. They are trying to bring the game back to us as it was, maybe I24. People need to stop their speculation on the game, if and when the new team acquires it! Plain and simple. You will not get a redesign of things you think were wrong with the game. You will get it as is! Hopefully our characters in the process :D Be thankful for what we get!
I am an ass, but don't we all love a good ass!

I think it also has to be realized that most people dont understand how this works.. I know I only understand little bits and pieces.. They dont understand the intricate details that need to be worked out.. they dont understand the licences and agreements that have to be ironed out in every details..

So I wouldnt focus on the naysayers..

If I get back all my characters and their stuff (not to mention my two SGs and their bases) I will most definitely subscribe again. In a heartbeat. If I don't? I'll be rather hesitant to continue, to be honest. I'd have to think it over. I can't speak for anyone else.

I can't say I agree with folks who want an exact copy of the game we already played.  I think keeping the story and characters and some key features is enough to capture the spirit of the game.  I don't feel like a game that just copied the original exactly would be adding a damn thing to the genre.

I totally get that you all are enamored with what we had, so am I, but why would you want to handcuff a studio's craleativity like that?  Why wouldn't you want them to improve where Paragon Studios made mistakes... and I think we all know that they did from time to time.

Much of the FB furor and endless speculation and arguing makes me think of this video:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHfpzrDuSYg    :)

In my opinion, even THIS can be seen positively...

If you have people sitting there arguing about things in the game...it means three things:

1. They care about their game
2. They are still there (they could be playing another game if it really pissed them off THAT much!)
3. They might have a point

There's already two (or is it three?) projects in the works that are exactly that. If that's what the new devs wanted, they could have made offers for those properties instead, neh?

Also, we also note that this is a growing thing, and with word of mouth comes even more speculation without knowledge. People just need to be patient. We'll get there. Eye on the prize!

NC didn't take FB seriously when they were mad at them. I seriously doubt/hope they'll take them serious now.

I hope the devs do the same.

By the way, when did it shift from "the guys that are trying to bring our game back" to "the devs"?
I like it, it has such an optimistic feel to it :)

Sir, you might as well be asking to be made Emperor of German Chocolate.  This is the internet.  No one can restrain the negative thoughts and speculation of people on the 'net.

I seem to be the only so far calling them "the new devs". :D

Everybody has particular memories of what the game was like.  It's easy to forget just how much the game evolved over time.  Powersets changed.  Powers changed.  Archetypes were added.  New progressions were added.  Content created different types of challenges.

I want to see what the new team does.  If we get I24 in perma-maintenance mode while they build a new shiny, cool.  Tell me when beta starts for the new shiny, because I'll be there while I'm still sipping tea in a top-hat in WW back in "classic Paragon".

A team that buys CoH and cares enough to read these forums or CoH FB pages (a) is brave on a top-tier incarnate scale and (b) knows what the players expect in terms of how a game plays, and knows what they can do to make it even better.  I totally agree - let them be creative and surprise us.  That's why people get into any of the arts, video game design included.

If it were possible to use that command on someone else, believe me, I would have.  I didn't want to open the dialogue tree that starts, "Boy, I wish I could un-stick you" in that situation, though...

Not going there, lol

That's very illogical.  Why would anyone offer to buy a company or IP that has no proven record of success.

We have a Prussian Prince of Automatons, I can darned well be the Evil Emperor of German Chocolate. You will try to eat my Devil's Food Demons, but there will always be more, and more, and more until it's time for a food coma! And then AND ONLY THEN will I begin my pillaging!

Then why would they want to buy something that's already a proven success if their intent was to radically alter its design?
