I am saying they were shooting for August when they spoke to me. After I screwed up and thought in one of the emails they were only days away from closing he corrected me and explained it could be months from July 3. So end of August or there about. It could be faster it could be slower.

That was why I put these out so you would know where I get my numbers and such from. I know saying August folks think that means August 1st. With 2 parties involved it would be hard to set any date until the very end. I am sure they will have a closing signing date.

Ok, thanks.  ;D

I hope no one wonders why CO doesn't like CoH people.

It's not like CO has been keeping a part of the CoH community both connected and active or anything, so let's spite our host some more.

Getting the band/community back together is going to be a big part of CoH:Resurrected. I wouldn't go trashing the tools that will facilitate that.

If anything I feel bad for them. (and myself to a degree. Lifetime subscriber) I wanted desperately to like this game. The time I most enjoyed it was when it first launched. The other three times I tried to play it got worse and worse.

They may never close it, but it so anemic and really seems to be about getting cash to open lock boxes as that is almost all that drops.

I would certainly extend an invitation anyone there to give CoH a try if it comes back. I know some love CO, but to me it's a great looking car that runs like ass. It could have been so much more.

The wait is painful but 2 years isn't that bad.  :P

Understand, not bashing CO itself, bashing cryptic north here because they took a game I liked and left it a smoldering ruin.

Same. I was in the CO beta, and saw enough promise in it to buy the pre-release LTS. And I was glad that I had it to cushion the fall when CoX was taken from us. But what it is now is NOT what it was.
Linux. Because a world without walls or fences won't need Windows or Gates.

I think i'll put a link to what I wrote about in my sig.  I started playing CO one month after it came out(couldn't when it came out initially, not a good enough computer).  Played it for about a year before moving back to CoX.  I was, impressed and liked it more then CoX then, but over time the changes just, left me going back to CoX, the inherent fitness change sealed the deal for me to remain with CoX.  Ironic, considering I was not someone who liked the fitness pool much.
Currently; Not doing any streaming, found myself with less time available recently.  Still playing starbound periodically, though I am thinking of trying other games.  Don't tell me to play mmohtg's though please :).  Getting back into participating in VO and the successors again to.

I don't think these comments were aimed at the players. Rather, in the best hip-hop tradition, they hated the game. :) Many CoH players don't understand why someone would stick with CO, because they look at it and don't see a game they could imagine enjoying, but I don't think anyone here begrudges anyone else the fun they find in anything that takes place between consenting adults. At least not when it comes to video games.

Heck, I'm consoling myself with "Avengers: Alliance" until CoH comes back, and that's turn-based.

TBH, the biggest issue with CO was that most of the devs who wrote it initially, were the same devs who wrote CoH (Many of them stayed at Cryptic when NCsoft bought CoH), and yet they managed to completely screw it up...

I'm about to return to DCUO myself for a short time.  I found a guide on how to increase combat rating past 30 without going into the htg part of the game.  So i'd be able to solo/duo once in a while to get the CR up, fun.

I played the CO beta too - it felt like it was an attempt by Jack to try and show that he'd been right all along.

So...are you saying that the deal is not going to be done in August? It's going to be done somewhere in September?
Time will pass quicker than we think I'll bet.   Just look at Wolf's timeline and how fast that went.

I personally need time to build a new PC to run the game anyway.   :D  (although...I do probably need to wait until I hear something definite)

This is the type of gaming I miss-

My usual SG crew (Drunk Canadians on Liberty) always played while we were all on Skype.  One of the crew- Vaxin Blade, HATES the color pink, despises it.  Soo.... one night the other 7 members of the crew.. we all showed up with EVERYTHING pink... pink costumes, pink powers, pink chat... we even ran some custom AE farms whereght all the enemies were all pink..

There was much cursing and muttering over Skype that night hehe (and Pink FF and Sonics look... odd)

Another time... all the members had their own IO tables in the base... one member.. we emptied his table and completely filled it with crafted Jaunts.....

THIS is why I want this game back.... the fun is sorely missed!
lol....I love it.

HEATSTROKE

hated CO.. tried the beta.. never went back.. it was awful...

The same thing could be said of what happened to Deus Ex: Invisible War.  Both CO and Deus Ex Invisible war could easily be seen in the same light from an objective stand point.  Both had rocky development cycles, both were very glitchy but still neat games.  You could say a lot of problems came from publishers meddling, easily, as well.  Both games would recieve alot of negative attention.  I will not lie, Deus Ex invisible war isn't a bad game but many people really hated it and felt it was dumbed down to much and was far to easy compared to the original deus ex.  CO had the same problem, dumbed down alot.  It used to be hard, now it's so casual it's laughable(I know someone here complained about sappers but I'll tell you this, losing energy only deleys an inevitable win as any CC the mobs use on a freeform just deleys the inevitable).

There is a lot of things that run in parallel when you look at CO and deus ex invisible war.  Both games predecessors were harder for some of the right reasons, both games were most the time to easy, both games had to many bugs, both games had rocky development.  Both games were made by the same development studio as their predecessor.

I wouldn't.  CO's current developers are about as underhanded as it gets.  They are living on nickle-dime operations and they listen to the wrong people regularly.  If CoX was under there care, we'd have a holy trinity grind fest that wouldn't even be recognizable anymore.  All buffs from defenders/corruptors/controllers/masterminds would be nerfed to a very low soft cap or just nerfed from providing say 15% base defense to only 1-2% base defense, resistance buffs from support at's would suffer the same fate.  Crowd control would be made universally into sleep, all debuffs would have their magnitudes nerfed to fraction of power.  It'd be done to make it so healing was the only viable form of support and a flat out requirement for every team.  I wouldn't want that.  They did that to CO, why the hell would I want cryptic north in charge of CoX?

Edit: Thing is, anytime ANYONE AT ALL says something is overpowered, they nerf it to an EXTREME.  Sometimes they'd buff something, but again with an EXTREME extent.  Thats why CO is on life support, it could have been great but the devs did that to it, it makes me cry.

I was thinking mainly from PWE's perspective it would have been a good business move.  Anyways,  doesn't Matt "Positron" Miller work for PWE now?  They could just put him in charge of the aquired CoH.

One of several possible reasons we probably will not see Clown Summoning in Star Trek Online...
Guns don't kill people, meerkats do.

Acanous

Don't know where Matt's working, but gah, if they actually put him on perfect world, he must be tearing his beard out.

Starforce

CO is still fun.

But it always feels like a placeholder for CoH.
