I played on Virtue all the time.. and never Rp'd once.. and in fact I didnt run into a lot of other people who did either..

TheDevilYouKnow was right in in saying that the RP groups on Virtue were sorta cliquish. At least from what I could see.  I was invited several times (especially when playing Mercy Vengeance LOL   everyone, it seemed, liked my winged emp def LOL).  But if you were not in the group, then you most likely did not even realize that those around you were RPing.

I'm torn. 16 servers means more room for growth, and no issues coordinating names if the data is available. On the other hand, what if there really are only 300 of us initially returning. We'd have 20 people average on each server. That would really suck.

I'm thinking the best approach is to put up 1 to 3 servers initially, restore accounts (if possible) upon request, and add servers when the demand is too high. Conflicting names can be generic'd or suffixed, and rename tokens provided. I wouldn't mind having my SG base back, too, or at least a way to convert real money to prestige.

Usually dragging along my counterpart and loving wife "Blissfully Wed"

The names sound familiar. I usually didn't have a lot of time to play at any given moment so didn't do many TFs or such and just ran with my tiny group of friends for the couple hours I could play each night so I didn't get to know a lot of players.

I miss Justice... I could log on there at almost any time, go "Hey, I need folks to help me film" and 20 people would be there volunteering.

Triumph was pretty much the same.

Hey now. I played on Freedumb and it wasn't that bad................ ok, I had to make my SG a solo one so I didn't have to listen to people fighting over who was the leader, or log in to see who got kicked the night before. And maybe some of our channels were private to keep the riffraff to a minimum. So we got grieved during Hami raids.................eh, nevermind.
"Freedumb" player here too.

I never had any of the problems I read about on the boards.   I even ran PuG's all the time without any issues.   I didn't do a lot of Hami raids...but they seemed to go ok when I did.

I was a member of a huge SG on Champion in the beginning and it was run by this guy who apparently was famous in the game for being hard to get along with.  (I'll bet a lot of people know his name)  It was really strict, rules-wise.   One of his lieutenants once said to me, "He's got issues".   When I decided to move to Freedom, he sent me a nasty tell berating me for "lack of dedication".

So I don't know what the SG's were like on Freedom since I started my own like you did...but it couldn't be any worse than that!   :D

BadWolf

Speaking personally, I had characters on all the US servers (the EU ones, once they became available, were primarily devoted to letting my daughter make characters and run around with them) and I had predominantly good experiences on all of them. I soloed on all of them, I teamed on all of them, I chatted on all of them, and I made insane numbers of alts on all of them. :)

At the very least, I'd expect 10 times that number - likely closer to 100 times.

My attempt to get into one particular SG led to a question asked of me that I will absolutely never let go: "How attached are you to your head?"

Basically they took issue with my character being an actual mouse rather then a guy in a mouse suit, but the way it was put sounded so unintentionally threatening. :)

CoH had roughly 100k active accounts at the end of August 2012- 40k subs, 20k premiums, 40k freebies - so I don't think it's unreasonable with the publicity a relaunch would attract to assume that about a 3rd of those might stop by to see what was going on.

I would assume that the number of servers city of will have at most would be 3 at most.

That's just wrong :P

There's nothing wrong with ERP - it just turns some people away. It's my understanding there may have been some incidents in Pocket D on Virtue where it was not as private as it should have been.

Ummm actually... I dispute it.
Ascendant was a roleplayer, and even though I do agree with immortalizing him, it wouldn't have fit in to the character concept for him to join the Phalanx.
Someone else suggested that he should randomly fly up to train stations and use the phones, delivering his skits - which I fully support.

I agree completely! While Ascendant has a larger stature than most player characters, I don't know if putting him into the Phalanx works very well with the concept.

I would actually more support the concept drawing David Nakayama made shortly before shut down, which he said he would grant to whichever project came out first, being fleshed out into a full character.
I used CIT before they even joined the Titan network! But then I left for a long ol' time, and came back. Now I edit the wiki.

I'm working on sorting the Lore AMAs so that questions are easily found and linked: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Lore_AMA/Sorted Tell me what you think!

I was almost exclusively on Virtue too, mostly a soloer though. When I first started I picked it purely because I liked the name. And yeah, this is pretty accurate from my experience. I remember there were always people clustered around in little groups, mostly under Atlas or on the roof of City Hall. Sometimes they'd be chatting full-bore in local, and other times you had to provide your own imaginary commentary.

Angel Wing Guy: Broody brood broody broody?

Stormcloud-Obscured Girl: Sullen broody brood.

Trenchcoat And Tattoos Guy: Broody cynical broody jaded.

Angel Wing Guy: Incredibly convenient nugget of insight.

Stormcloud-Obscured Girl: Twenty-word synonym for sighing!

Ridiculously Over-Armored Guy: Flexy brag power-spam!

... hehe, I'm just teasing of course. The RPers I actually *met* were all pretty cool folks. I just like being silly more than serious, so in hindsight Virtue really wasn't the place for me.   ;D

I started off on Infinity because it seemed quiet.  I had no idea which were the designated servers for RP or which was for TFs or for all green costumes or whatever.  All I know is it became increasingly hostile so I was slowly migrating to Triumph and Exhalted.  I vaguely recall some jokester in Triumph Atlas Park who always made me laugh.  I wish I could recall his name, but my memory isn't that good.  I just remember liking the atmosphere.

Super Firebug

I miss the fun teams in CoX. I haven't found anything like them in CO; there, they just barrel through missions, hardly saying anything, and no joking. (To be fair, that's just my experience, and I don't team very often there, so I may just be missing out.)

Recalling a couple of CoX team moments. On one team, we had just finished taking down a group in an office building. Bodies everywhere, piles of earth all over, parts of the hall carpet on fire, grav-troller debris. I looked at it and said, "The janitor's gonna have a coronary in the morning."

On another team, during the umpteenth team-wipe, one member said, "If anyone finds a spleen, it's mine." The response was, "Oh, is that what that was?"

I really miss that community.

I met one RP person on Virtue and he/she was an incredibly nice person.   Really took the time to walk me through what it was all about and invited me to join the RP SG.   I was a bit intimidated by it (I'm also very silly) so I never took him/her up on it.

MorphOS!

MorphOS??? That's just AROS on steroids. You've gotta be kidding! Amiga OS 4 is the successor to the real Amiga lineage.

(No actually I don't care. It just felt interesting if an Amiga purist flame war could ignite in a CoH related forum, lol.)
