I'm not sure how much has changed in Nap-town, since I moved back to Germany but, as I recall, Alcatraz had some good eats -no to mention their microbrewed goodness- and isn't too far from the convention center.

Previously I'd just tell people to get in touch with me at the Catalyst booth.  But I'm running a lot more in the last few years and am in the booth less reliably.

Okay guys.  Sorry about the last minute nature of this.

Our guests have discovered they have a 6PM panel they have to attend.

With this being a "sit down" place, the odds of being seated, ordering, having  the food and having time to eat in under an hour is kinda slim.

As such, we're bumping the start time by half an hour.

Yes.  We were there until around 7-ish.

Afterwards I tried to leap over to a M&G for the Kitcheneers on G+.  Unfortunately nobody was there.  Not even the event runner...

If you're the event runner, in the future there's a few things to remember.

1: Be there for your own event!

2: Make sure you're REALLY exact about where you're having the event.  The place this was supposed to be held was in an apartment building.  2 distinct (and completely separate) entrances with 4 apartments.

3: Holding an event in a gated community isn't really a great idea if you don't supply access to your guests.

Okay.  About the second M&G tonight.  Sorry that it turned into such a fuster-cluck.
For YEARS now, it's been a MAJOR pain to get a venue because nobody would take reservations.
Tonight, we arrived at Weber Grill and were told "Sorry, we are booked solid with reservations"...

And I had to forcibly restrain myself from biting the poor maitre'd's head off.

So we had something like 20 people show and we had about 10 seats.

I'm going to see if we can figure out a better plan for next year, because the whole restaurant thing isn't working.

Well, there's a bit of cost involved but you could book a meeting room at a hotel.  Then everyone could BYOB and pizza could be ordered.
