ALERT: Pando Media Booster, Viruses and YOU!

If you don't know what it is, it might still be on your computer. My anti virus alerted me last night about it trying to upload a virus into my computer. I blocked it, removed it, and deleted the program file completely.

After doing a little research on how that... thing even got on my computer... well Pando's apparently a 3rd party program that no longer exists, but was used by publishers like Turbine and NCSoft to help with game downloads. If you have a machine that was around during your active subscription to NCSoft games (like CoH) you might want to check it for viruses and delete it out of your system.

Here's the wikipedia entry, even including that the updater has since been used to upload a browser hijacker to your computers.

Also possibly worth noting: If you got any of the various Cryptic games (Champions, STO, Neverwinter) direct from the website there's a chance it might've been in there too. It was removed a while back, but they did use it for a while.

But why would you download Cryptic games from the website when they're all available on Steam?
