I feel a little let down by the bdo character creator at times, but at other times I feel like that was the next version of COH's character creator.  Only the coh devs would have done a little better. I just want more hair, costume and of course the ability to change age and gender.

The hair is completely customizable except for one of the braided styles. You start from a template and then move all the sliders or click the circles on the hair; what do you feel is missing in this character creator that trumps all the existing character creators ever made before it?

As for costumes you gotta loot them or buy them from the cash shop. After all they gotta make some money since this is a non sub game I think 20 dollars every now and then for a costume isn't that bad considering I was paying for 3 city of heroes subscriptions and buying paragon points each month.

See, that's where CoH has spoiled me. All this hype for Black Desert, and then I hear that it's only the face / body that are so amazingly customizable. The clothing is where it's at!
I used CIT before they even joined the Titan network! But then I left for a long ol' time, and came back. Now I edit the wiki.

I'm working on sorting the Lore AMAs so that questions are easily found and linked: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Lore_AMA/Sorted Tell me what you think!

no, the entire body is customizeable all the way down to the length and thickness of the fingers, torso, breast, butt, each section of the arms and legs, shoulder, neck, etc; you can even make custom poses. The costumes are individual pieces but sold in sets if you buy from the store (however you can split them up into individual pieces) you just gotta loot/buy and then mix and match, and finally dye the pieces you want. (you don't have to dye them ofcourse) There isn't much else they could make money off of without selling you costumes. Since everything else can be earned for free just by logging in or having patience to complete quests and content, gather and craft.

Thankfully so far we also don't have any of those pancakey god awful perfect world lockboxes and with this being a buy to play game without subscriptions you get to play all the content. Although I assume at some point we will have paid expansions like wow and other mmos have.

I like Black Desert Online and have been playing it since March 5th, when it launched, but comparing it to CoH is like comparing apples and oranges.  If CoH was back, I'd be playing that instead in a heartbeat.

That out of the way, the $10 appearance change ticket in BDO that lasts 30 days isn't just for one character-- it's for all the characters on the server you buy it for.  It's been convenient because I really didn't know what I was doing when I made my BDO toons.  I made them all at almost max height, like I did in CoH, because in CoH, the short characters would make me motion sick as they ran.  The tall ones had longer strides, so there wasn't as much extreme bobbing up and down.  (I could never use superspeed, either, as it made me motion sick, too.  I stuck to fly, hover and superjump, then later, ninja run.)

However, in BDO, there isn't as much potential height difference so the "shorter" BDO characters don't make me motion sick when they run, and making them really tall just distorted their body shapes so their heads looked too tiny.  The $10 appearance change ticket for 30 days has allowed me to really tweak them better....Although that Giant is rather bad looking no matter how much I work on his face, but I digress....   :P

I don't have any experiences making male characters but my two female characters look great! You might try bdo templates http://www.bdotemplates.com/ maybe you can find a face there and start your character creation using that as a preset. Perhaps then you can modify it enough to the point that it's still your own creation.

It's too quiet around here.

I have been looking at other games - but noting is as good as COH to me. Well maybe some millennium something will happen.

I am up to sitting here as a nervous wreck after nearly completely botching a video driver installation.  I told Nvidia to install the latest drivers.  The installation failed for whatever reason.  Windows did not properly roll back to my former driver on the first try.

Tubbius was freaking out.  :(

At least it did finally roll back, but I'm stuck with drivers from August of last year, apparently, and I don't know why.

EDIT TO ADD:

Annnnnd because I've been fighting my computer, I apparently missed a survey I was supposed to respond to for work.  Great.  I guess I'll see if they'll reopen it for me or not, and, if not, what penalties there are, since they're informing departmental deans of results.  :|  Great.  One more thing.

I've moved on to console gaming, but I keep hoping something will happen to bring back the joy!

For superhero gaming, no, nothing is.

I've been greatly enjoying The Secret World over the last several months. The story arcs and missions are amazing.

Can I suggest something called Display Driver Uninstaller (easily found by a quick google, as I can't recall the policy on links to external sites here), it's cleaned up issues I've had with driver residue before.

Basically, download and install it, reboot into safe mode, then run DDU, rip off all remains of old drivers, and start again as if from a blank slate.

Good luck.

I've basically stopped gaming.  My wife has rediscovered Gemstone, which makes her happy, but having tried a pile of MMOs (Rift, Tera, CO, TSW, FFXIV, Defiance, GW2, Neverwinter, ESO, and probably more that I've actually gotten around to uninstalling), nothing really scratched my itch.

She was talking to me recently about Gemstone and things she was doing and how much fun she was having, and all I could think was, "I really miss City..."

Now I'm starting to worry that I'm building it up so much in my head that by the time we get it (or a successor) to play, there's no way any game will be able to live up to my (flawed) memory of how fun it was.

But, you know. . .

Try black desert and really give it some time to learn because it's probably alot different than anything you've played. I'm still learning and taking my time playing and understanding the features, combat, gathering and crafting. It might be my favorite mmo since coh. It's buy to play and all content is available since it isn't a subscription game the do have a cash shop for costumes and "want it nao" features like increased inventory and weight carry limits. All of which can be earned for free by logging in everyday for your loyalty points or by completing ingame content. I Should have some buddy keys if you want to try before buying.

I had a Lifetime Subscription with DC Universe Online when it first came out, but I havent played it for years, literally since at least 2013, and that was just a jaunt onto it to kill some time.
Since then, Its been bought over by yet another company, Daybreak gaming etc
I tried to log in over the weekend, and my account is 'banned' for some reason.
Can't think for the life of me why it would be banned, given I haven't played it for at least 3 years.
Was tempted to go on and make a Mental character there, but without my lifetime subscription, I can't be arsed.
Have a life time subscription on Champions Online, but the physics and knockback powers in CO arent as good as they are in DC, and the knockback and physics in DC were no where near as good as in City of Heroes.
(I miss being able to use Telekinetic Push on a level 10 mob, and sending them flying for a mile)

As far as specific power sets?  I miss Robotics, Gravity Control, Earth Control, Traps, Storm Summoning, and an actual Invulnerability set. I haven't found anything like them in any other game.

I haven't tried the Secret World.  Still waiting for the Mac version.  (Going to be waiting a long, long time, I suspect)

I thought that was just Sony Online's new name, when they turned themselves into an independent company from Sony?

Unfortunately thats not surprising.
I used the same password for alot of services - and then in January my Netflix and Amazon got hacked.
(Logged into my Netflix, after a lengthy call to their tech support team to get the password reset - and the vile excrement created a new User Profile under my account called ' ;-) '  - just to taunt me.)

Then I googled my password, and found that it actually exists in a rainbow hash table that is available online.
It looks like someone might have downloaded a db dump from a website, and cracked the encryption to decipher my password.
Either that, or a less reputable website was storing passwords in plaintext and/or shared them.
So - I don't use that password anymore, but I guess DC Universe was one of the left over accounts. I hadn't played it in like 3 years so, comes as a good shock.

I've left a message with their tech support, emphasizing that I haven't touched the game for years, and that its more profitable to give me the benefit of the doubt so I can make them money via Micro-transactions.

Over the past few months, I've really gotten into the Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes app.  It's basically a collectible card game, but it's been scratching my itch for building characters, which was one of my favorite aspects of CoX.
