So where are we right now anyways, just playing the waiting game?

Also just a thought, you know let's say we do actually get CoH back (yay! fingers crossed!) everyone is happy etc etc. What's going to happen to these games currently being developed? Think they'll be finished and released or just forgot about and the guys making them will be playing CoH as happy as the rest of us? lol

I guess one of three things, as far as I can tell...

CoH will take on the properties of the Hamidon and assimilate the other games because they threaten the natural order of things, and then afterwards assimilate whomever might have posted such a question as it offends the Hamidon to have its motivations questioned.

Then it will space - face Tuesday spoonfullofsugar Joshex, because Josh has inside knowledge of silly things that will never happen, so it makes sense because uniquedragon, which is real because I said so...

That said, possibly the hopeless few who played CoH like it was Sunday Church and not just a video game will be the only people to care about a long since dead game being returned to them, and they'll play without bothering the majority of planet Earth or the Internet in general - like they always did.

Or we send Joshex to play with them, cause banana information Tuesday chibby hippopotamus...

Of course, 99% of statistics are bullshit.

So, mostly CoH will kill of any hope of gaming in general unless we all take the blue pill.

There is another possiblity - the other games will progress as they were and CoH will appeal to whomever even knew it existed - the new crowd will play the new hotness while it's hot, and eventually leave the other games which will by then have a core of players who give a pancake, just like CoH did...

Or, Jerk hacking.

Come on dude! Spoiler alert!

I did think about it, but I decided that it should be reasonably evident that I was describing the book in full.
I used CIT before they even joined the Titan network! But then I left for a long ol' time, and came back. Now I edit the wiki.

I'm working on sorting the Lore AMAs so that questions are easily found and linked: http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Lore_AMA/Sorted Tell me what you think!

Ok, call in Flambeau
I honestly have to wonder if Flambeau was created when one dev mused out loud "I don't think there's any way to make Fusionette look competent", and another dev said "CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!"

I look at many points that could be made and decide on which one appeals to me the most rather than which one would help prove anything the most. often times this means ignoring the main point I may have previously been aiming for.

it's like you see a steak restaurant on a map when you're hungry, so you follow the map to get there, then by the time you get close you decide you really don't actually want steak and see an ice cream place not too far off and decide it's time for a cool desert.

things change and sometimes the main point is meant to be changed, or pointless to continue towards it at least.

if a point is pointless what does it make it?

Ya. I don't think that is what is happening

QuoteA lot of people do that.  Even I occasionally do that.  I think where people draw the line is when you agree to drive everyone to lunch at a new steak restaurant, instead drive to Disneyland, moon Princess Ariel, set the car on fire while everyone is still in it, then wonder the next day why no one kicked in for gas money.

Even that has some continuity to it.  And is still on the topic of driving some where.  I would compare to driving for a steak dinner somewhere.  And then just all of a sudden appearing in space 90 thousand light years away, fighting off some kinda space fish as the new ruler of Milky Way Kingdom.  Enough to make you question "Is this even real anymore?"

I don't know about all the projects, but when we did our interview with some of the Valiance team, it was pretty clear how passionate they are about the game they're making. It's not just about replacing CoH for them. They were already making a game anyway, before City's shutdown was even announced. It was fantasy themed at the time, and then when City's sunset happened, they decided to branch off a new copy and adapt it to a superhero theme. So I'm pretty sure they're dedicated enough to see theirs through.

Which isn't to say the others aren't, I just haven't spoken to them personally so I haven't "heard it in their voice". But the fact they're still around and working on it says a lot.

I don't think the return of City of Heroes would stop the spiritual successor teams from continuing their plans.  That said, I have varying degrees of confidence in each of the teams to (a) finish the game and (b) have it be a game I want to play, but I'm pretty darned sure at least one of the games will completely get my attention.

But I think just about everyone still present in this forum is eager for news about City of Heroes.  Must admit I find my own faith flagging at times.  I was hoping we'd have some news by last summer as I would have had more time available to play then.  Now I'm hoping for news before this summer.  Of course, time will tell, and this in no way diminishes the gratitude I have for those working to bring the game back.

My faith still hasn't wavered.  I try ironicly not to spend TO much time thinking about it.  I distract myself on games like fallout 4 to take my mind off it.

As for the spiritual successors, it is my hope that a return of CoX will actually help inspire them to do even better.  Heck, if say MWM are the ones that end up with the game, the money spent on CoX could go towards developing CoT.

Now i'm watching yet another Fallout 4 Builds video with the new build based on a character from borderlands...and full out michael bay kaboomyness.  Man I need to get my gunslinger/demolitionist high enough to focus on automatics and heavy weapons.......
Currently; Not doing any streaming, found myself with less time available recently.  Still playing starbound periodically, though I am thinking of trying other games.  Don't tell me to play mmohtg's though please :).  Getting back into participating in VO and the successors again to.

City of Titans recently created an actual executable/standalone game client. It's not fully functional and there's a ton of work to do, but it's an actual working client. This may not seem like much compared to Valiance Online, but VO was already well in development before CoH shut down. For CoT it was a pretty big milestone.

Heroes & Villains i don't exactly know where they are currently. Last time i looked they had a bunch of concept art and some general lore posted and were using an engine that, well, has been a major issue for a different MMO project recently who ended up switching engines fairly late in development because of it. Honestly i have no idea where H&V is at the moment, but maybe there's videos posted somewhere of what they have working so far, much like VO and CoT.

Edit: Just took a look at the Heroes and Villains site. Seems like things are moving along there as well. Some nice concept art and apparently they're starting to implement some basic powers, so it looks like things are going well.

So far so good. Onward and upward!

All the projects get my kudos.  they are grinding at making progress and that counts for something, plus they are leagues ahead of me.

though mine is not so much a spiritual successor project as it is an entirely new game, I can't help but take some functionality points from city, as they did do a lot of things right.

Man, I always thought Fusionette got a bum rap, it is not her fault the Game AI does not handle Knockback all that well, she just had more of it than anyone else.

Ooh, thanks for the heads up! I don't check in on the projects as often these days. I figure they're so long-term, there's plenty of time to catch up, y'know? heh.

That does look like a solid step forward, for sure. Congrats to them on hitting a big milestone :D

Great. Now I'm tempted to binge watch "How I met your mother" - again.
Well done - it made me chuckle silently so as to not disturb the late sleepers.
