I'll be happy with just SOs for the first few months. It just means that teamwork will be needed. It's nice having no end issues and fast recharge but having SO characters that will need emps,FF,and debuffs and
others will be fun.It took some of the fun out of it watching people just run into a mob and never needing
their teammates.
As far as the game coming back I hope so.I'm not interested in the spiritual successor games because of
what I've seen and I don't think COX can be copied however much anyone tries.I hope the teams working
on them do well and maybe some of you will find a new home but COX is the only one I will be on.

Here here, let's hear it for reboot with defenders, corruptors and controllers holding the fort for our SO challenged brethren. Can I get a siphon power, can I get a bzzzZZZorcchcchchch! Fulcrum Shift!

Rejolt

I'd kind of love it for an old school reboot. No store, pvp, AE or inventions the first 4-6 weeks (even if that was open beta only).

This is very much how I feel, too. I'm all for the fans/players of this franchise coming forward and attempting to re-create something great (something that so many of us miss). And I truly wish them all the best, and I hope their games are successful.

Buuuuuuut if/when we do get COH back? Through whatever means? That's probably where you're going to find me. I don't think the successor games are trying to 'copy' or rip-off COH by any means, but I do think that COH cannot in any way/shape/form be replaced by another title. It was too unique, too special, and too one-of-a-kind.

I just wanna go hooooooome. *criiiiies*

I want Issue 1, at least briefly, so that all the people who claim it was better can play it and realize how spoiled they really were by the later updates.

worldweary

I'm not sure I would want issue 1 back but the first few months no one will have uber builds which means
everyone on the team will be needed.

Solitaire

I would just like to have the game back, if I have to start from fresh then so be it, but having the game back is the most important thing to me  ;)

Issue 1 and the terrific Lag, that rubberbanded you all over the map.

No respect
No HO's
No PvP
Fire tanks had to take healing flames and continually spam them to have hold protection
Bees were the deadliest thing to face, you could slowly be stung to death and not be able to flee
SR scrappers were so broken no one would play them
No Villians
No Praetoria

If it came to only playing issue 1 then I would play. However, I came in late issue 6; so for me that would be the minimum issue. Even though it would be cool to see how the game was when it launched.

And Blasters could power level by fighting +6 (or better) with judicial use of smoke grenade...

and 6 slotting damage for a nice +200% boost to base damage.

the smoke grenade thing went away just after I started playing. Not that I would have abused it anyway.

I think a lot of pre-ed munchkins just wanted a game where there was only one way to play it because they only cared about how powerful they were but never cared to tinker and tweak characters like the rest of us did.  Even though the rest of us min/maxers ended up with more powerful characters than any of those particular munchkins did.  I mean, they clearly never played city of after ED, so they wouldn't know jack.  Course those types moved on to play CO and ruin it, nuff said.
Currently; Not doing any streaming, found myself with less time available recently.  Still playing starbound periodically, though I am thinking of trying other games.  Don't tell me to play mmohtg's though please :).  Getting back into participating in VO and the successors again to.

How everyone remembers Issue 1:

The first screenshot though was like issue 10+ anyways, more-so, once people learned how to use IO's.  I was stomping 4-5 groups at a time with my fortunata.

Issue 1 was city of blasters correct I did not play until I2 but I heard that they had to add range attacks on werewolfs because of blaster flying above without ever being attacked blasting away

I2 yay winterlords and standing in tram stations  ;D Thing that sucked the most was DA and non stacking armor

Now I3 was kind of the sweet spot before ED came along DA stacked, Invulnerability was buffed remember when Invincibility (I think it was this one memory is fuzzy) rooted you in place . I mean we did have dumpster diving, standing in front of portals just out of damging range of the portal racking up xp killing the exiting mobs with footstomp while you went and ate a sandwich. Lets not forget perma elude, perma unstoppable toggle based Regen scrappers.Oh oh and and DA COF mag3  :'( ; Controllers sucking until they got their pets and then all of a sudden they would put out 3-4 pets and rule the world. When devices was the king of Blasters broken smoke gerande +drone + 6 slotted damage .

Man this is all your fault for giving me those flashbacks

Inc42

Personally I have absolutely 0 interest in playing the game pre IOs if post IOs is an option. I played since I2, I remember the pre-ED builds, and hated the nerf just like everyone did, but it was not until I got into sets that I felt like I truly learned the game. This was when I learned that I could be more than a blaster or scrapper, that I could play any role and any AT, and eventually I began to challenge myself on how to make power combinations work or do silly things like my glass cannon Super Strength/Shield brute Stompy McStomperson, who couldnt afford to turn on his toggles because all he used was Foot Smash and that drained his end bar too quick. This was FUN to me.

I dont think the solution is to bring back the game as one or the other though, not anymore. Look at what Everquest has recently done, they started creating servers where you play the original game at launch and every few months get one of the major updates in order of it's release. How cool is that? We all know that CoH will not be able to be updated in the future with new issues, maybe with APR but not the original game if it comes back. Maybe the people that get the servers can get past issues though? (Otherwise what is the point of even talking about what issue you'd like the game back in? It's all speculative)

I think that by this point our player base has likely shrunk too far for the old server setup. The game's been gone for years, people have moved on, it happens. Most likely we can make use of two or three servers, maybe even just one, otherwise it will be too empty, never enough people to do raids and TFs. So, what if we planned on say two normal servers, and one "old school" server (probably just after CoV's launch for the most amount of content but still pre-ED), with the option to have an evolving server EQ-style as well?

The Pre-ED vs Sets argument has split the player base (likely not in half, but by a sizable amount) for years. Heck, it's been 3 years since anyone's even played the game and the topic still gets a ton of discussion. Maybe it's time to officially split the player base (and again, this happens with multiple servers anyway, this would be "just another server").

Which is the point of my post said better by you, CW. There was a lot of hustle on the part of Paragon Studios that would be better appreciated if people realized the way things were and how they were improved.

And for the record... I did not ask for ED to be repealed. As for aggro and aoe caps...

You would be surprised what people could do in a couple weeks. By the end of the first month I'll already be farming and collecting recipes to put in super group base bins. Some people have more time and drive than others ;) The hardest thing will be getting my fire/fire brute up. Probably will take me about 2 weeks since they are squishy :-/ Some will get it done much sooner though.
