Hey guys, I have an insane theory for why this is taking so long.

And that is why this has to be the undeniable proof that-

I can't say for certain that the latest Nexon/NCSoft news is good news... but I'm fairly confident it's not bad news.

It's bad news. Anything that let in charge the men who where in charge during the shutdown is bad news. Because they surely will not say 'how, sorry, we have been wrong, how can we fix stuff'.

Is it too much to hope for CoH/CoV to come back in time for Christmas? I mean, it's pretty obvious that the Deal is going to progress in a direction of some kind, anyone else feel that the Deal could very well be finalized and done with the Servers being up by December or January?

In other news, it is 1:42 AM right now where I live, and I ain't tired at all... Good thing it's Sunday,  means I don't gotta go anywhere :)

Don't want to be negative, I could see the deal being possibly finalized by then but doubtful for the servers. I'm not knowledgeable about this in anyway though but I would love to have CoH back for Christmas and I ain't even Christian lol.

Honestly, I'd rather have the deal be at least finalized by Christmas, but to have it running in time for us to go play it when Christmas comes around would be icing on the cake for me! :)

Of course, we are assuming that the NDA is for when the deal is finalized. It could be possible that it also includes their "testing" to make sure they can release it (at least in a beta format) to the public. That is what I am hoping as it would explain the length of time we have been waiting (and no I am not complaining or saying it is taking too long). Been gone to LA for two weeks and finally caught up with all the posts.

It says Nexon bought the stock in 2012. Wonder if that had anything to do with the shutdown?

I remember someone reliable here confirmed that.

they said Nexon said something similar to: CoH wasn't making enough money in comparison to guildwars, aion etc. and that it was dragging the stocks down, they used this to rile other stock holders who together said "shut it down or we leave" becuase a low stock price means they weren't making much interest. I think Nexon used it as evidence to launch a claim that the Stock holders should have some amount of say over company operations.

it's a USA thing... in the good old US of A a person with 400k to blow can buy 400k worth of stocks which qualifies them to visit the company during it's board meetings to get inside information about how the company is doing and what they plan to do, this tells them whether or not they should continue to buy stocks or sell. if sell they can voice it during the meeting usually through an agent who is also brokering for lots of other people too.

"I have 100 people here each investing 400k+ into your company that will sell now if you do/don't do [that]" says a lot.

its not a USA thing..look at some of the EU laws about stockholder rights. Stock represent ownership in a company. should owners NOT have some say? It gets a lot more complicated than that when you get into preferred stock and a lot of other things. Some companies allow people with even 1 stock to come to the meetings. BERKSHIRE HATHAWAY stock was $260 in 1980 and is worth over $200k today. show up with 400k worth of stocks and tell them that and they will laugh.

Ughhhhhh! There are times I hate my ADHD for causing me to have a difficult time being patient... This is one of those times. The having to wait for any news is driving me even more nuts! (I can't say that it's driving me nuts, because well, one could say I'm already crazy :P )

Also, I know that Arcana clarified about the only thing NCsoft didn't buy outright from Cryptic (aka the Game Engine), but did anyone find out the scoop on whether or not Cryptic is going to let their Game Engine be used again? I myself wasn't able to find anything recent on the subject, hopefully someone has better success than me...

Granted, the chances are that Cryptic is under the same NDA that the Team is under IF they're involved in the negotiations due to the Game Engine being theirs.

huh, I actually was on Reddit this morning reading old posts from 7 months ago and someone said pretty much the same exact thing... Of course, the difference between 7 months ago and now is that Nexon is no longer in the picture, so the Deal should be going at a much faster pace due to NCsoft's attention no longer being distracted by Nexon.

If they purchased a game without ironing out the contract such that they'd be able to sell it in turn then they need new lawyers.

Well, sure, that's implied, but I still don't know that anyone has (or can) address it definitively.

Well, maybe - NCsoft might also have to reorganize the company first, with the removal of presumably some personnel that left with Nexon.

Well, it is but it isn't, I was referring to how the Greeks and Romans (and others if I remember correctly) believed that the Winter Solstice was when the Gods of Olympus would hold one of two meetings, the other meeting happening during the Summer Solstice, but for CoH/CoV, it ain't mythology, that's for sure...

I still find it interesting that Statesman has the essence of Zeus in him and Lord Recluse has the essence of Tartarus in him... you can't tell me that the Winter Event JUST happens to be called the Winter Solstice by pure chance :P

True, but all things considered, that's not nearly as bad as having Nexon breathing down NCsoft's neck, so if anything, the deal should be going somewhat faster at the very least...
Besides that, I don't see how NCsoft can afford to blatantly disregard a group of people who are pretty much going to be making them money in a similar way to how Guild Wars makes NCsoft money, if NCsoft has shown anything over these past few years, it's that they want to make as much money as they can without having to do that much work.
It's why Wildstar is failing, because it's pleasing graphically but everything else just sucks (in my opinion that is).

Well this is gonna be fun, Huge Storm hit where I live... Knocking down the chain link fence on one side of the house and at least half of the huge wall of wood that covered every other part of the backyard, mind you, I have a big backyard... It also managed to make one of the pillars holding the Back Patio's roof get uprooted from the ground and forcefully shifted to the right making it to where that whole roof will need to be torn out and replaced, THEN it knocked out the power line that happened to be connected to the house's power box! Good thing my mom's only renting this place, just means she won't have to pay a penny! *triumphant laugh*

I've away for a little while.  I see that Nexon and NCSoft are finally get that needed divorce.  That's good I suppose.  I take it no new news on the return of CoH.  Only read through a few pages of history.

Still hoping we'll get our game back but even if Nexon was the one that made NCSoft kill it, could take considerable capital to put it back into operation.  I'm wondering what it would take from us to get NCSoft to either put it back up or release the game.  They've shown resistance to the idea of selling it or the IP.  Has anyone talking with them asked what would they consider a meaningful act on our part towards putting CoH back in service?

No Surrender!

Odimodus

I was hoping we would have some good news before we hit 1000 pages here. At least this is any kind of news.

Here's hoping in 3 pages it's full on celebration.
