so, this is what this thread has come to. CoX negotiations on hold because of BS with Nexon and financial worries, and all the CoX language has been spent already in only under 1000 pages leaving the topic to turn to STO.

I think it's time we began discussing methods to combat the hold process in the negotiations. as far as I see it we have two options.

1(villain): someone get the NCSoft legal crew and those responsible for the IP really really drunk, make sure they enjoy themselves, then get them to work and suggest they sign over the game to the Them.

2 (hero): offer to buy the NCSoft Execs responsible for the deal a nice dinner at a fancy place in exchange for information on what is specifically worrying them about Nexon and what relation it has to do with CoX. Then put our brains together and figure out methods to avert their worries.
I agree with Agge, this topic starts off talking about City of. then someone talks about a new topic. However, this topic does return to talking about City of. Personally I do not see people talking about different things as damaging this thread. At the moment it is just time to talk about STO for a few pages, until someone talks about something else.
For right now we have all the information that was revealed to us, and for me that is enough.

Wait, what? i missed the post where it was confirmed that the negotiations were on hold. All somewhat credible posts on the status of negotiations that i've seen strongly implied that negotiations were still ongoing, albeit slowly. Link please.
So far so good. Onward and upward!

LaughingAlex

I'd thought I heard somewhere that they started moving forward in august, actually.  But they were temporarily on hold before that thanks to Nexon.
Currently; Not doing any streaming, found myself with less time available recently.  Still playing starbound periodically, though I am thinking of trying other games.  Don't tell me to play mmohtg's though please :).  Getting back into participating in VO and the successors again to.

Two (and a half  :P) questions:
1. When exactly did all this drama with Nexon start?
2. Did anyone from the team say that the talks are on hold or is it one of those "it's safe enough to assume" type things?
2.5 Can anyone from the team even tell us if the talks are on hold or not?

Vee

There was a ^^^this, which is pretty much more than most of us hoped for given the NDA.

I laughed harder at this than when my wife got pushed (in her dress) into the pool at our reception... and I watch that video 2-3 times a month. You are a genius.

P.S. - I'm trying to curb my use of exclamation points so I don't end up on Ritalin.

I guess it depends on how you play it.  The bad part is that a lot of the good stuff people want requires spending money to get, like content gated behind lockboxes.

Is "you have to pay to get some of the things you want" really a "bad part"? You get that they're a business, and the folks doing the work are doing it for a living, not in their spare time, right?

I'm down with "I don't like lockboxes", but "a lot of the good stuff requires spending money" is literally how everything works. In the world.

Paid starships in STO cost $25.  Per ship class.  It would really be much less offensive if everything wasn't so absurdly overpriced (also if the game were good enough to justify spending any money on, which it rarely is).
