Conspiracy theory: Arcana was the one who got the game shut down, as part of her plan to escape the server.

But now that she is free. . . How does she go home?
We're almost there!  ;D

The RNG hates me.

Arcana returns to the "hidden secret purloined CoH server" every dawn....there to abide until the fall of night...

I recently handed my oldest son a fistful of money to complete the construction of the first dedicated gaming computer I have ever owned.  Perhaps that will initiate a stroke of fate which will return CoH to the online gaming world.

No, Arcana is the AI that was running on the server. When they shut the server down, it escaped into the wild internet.

Conspiracy theory: every game company/team I apply at gets shut down.

I applied at paragon studios before the shutdown. I applied at Rockstar North, they closed down that office or moved.

it's like something about me applying triggered some negative corporate attention. I wonder why..

I suggest you go to South Korea and apply directly to work with NCSoft.
I will go down with this ship.  I won't put my hands up in surrender.  There will be no white flag above my door.  I'm in love, and always will be.  Dido

So far so good. Onward and upward!

Arcanet

This.

Somehow, CoT or VO or someone needs to put that tidbit into their game.  Maybe as a server, as an Easter egg.... somehow.
Beware the mighty faceplant!

I got my random comment the other from a friend. We bought Dragon Ball Xenoverse because it is on sale for 50% on steam. After playing it for an hour, he tells me that game reminded him of City of Heroes. My friend only played CoX for about a month. Weird CoX was the first thing to come up in a Dragon Ball game.

Arcanet

I always pictured Arcana as this sentient energy mass akin to the Anti Life Equation.

In other words, your imagining her like my main.....though my main is an artificial intelligence.....
Currently; Not doing any streaming, found myself with less time available recently.  Still playing starbound periodically, though I am thinking of trying other games.  Don't tell me to play mmohtg's though please :).  Getting back into participating in VO and the successors again to.

Have you met Arcananet? Who says she isn't?

LaughingAlex

I know Arcananet is a bot :), read about it.  I also read they have a bot in the works for badge hunters that'll tell you if you'd received a badge or not.  Cool stuff.

I heard she was a Robot. An evil Robot, made from evil parts designed to do evil.

Those and not Seeds of Confusion? That would be my first pick for "seriously?" when looking at a power's effects and duration vs recharge.

As I mentioned above, its hard to include controller mezzes for the simple reason that there's almost always a reason to justify giving controllers or dominators high order mez, and confuses were always very powerful.  On top of that Seeds was a somewhat narrow cone with limited range, which means it was harder to get an entire spawn into its effect than, say, Mass Confusion (which, while it was a tier 9 power, could be made perma on huge spawns with less risk).  Seeds was very powerful if you liked confuses, but it wasn't totally out of line of what controllers got relative to the single target confuses on one end and mass confusion on the other.

electric control has 2 AoE -end powers which subtract end on a per-tick basis, this is what can incapacitate an AV when slotted right. I know the computer is fast and the enemy AI schedules attacks for the next recovery tick, but if the -end drain syncs with the recovery tick (as it typically does) then you got-em. I also had lots of -rech global bonuses so the static field power would recharge before it expired.

Dr. Vahz, maybe.  A level 50 AV resisting 85% of all drains and with a 53 point recovery tick would need to see 353 points of drain more or less simultaneously to nullify their endurance recovery tick.  Did you have a build that packed that kind of drain?

A team of drainers can do that.  I don't think a single character could sustain that kind of drain.  I'd love to see someone post a build that could.

I never enjoyed using sleeps myself.

...

Stuns and holds were just, far more useful.

Of course they were.  That's what makes them problematic to hand out to players.  Sleeps on the other hand for all the reasons you list as being problematic also make them a much safer mez to hand out to players (other MMOs would call these more generically "fragile holds" - holds that can be broken, usually by combat in some way).  With more ability to moderate the effect and with the effect not providing accelerating benefit to stacking players, you can afford to be more generous with them.

Remember: holds were so useful in City that the devs had to invent purple triangles to combat them.  Which then significantly nullified controller holds vs AVs.  So the tool you use every day doesn't work against the foe that is strong enough to require using all of your tools to defeat it.  That's not the best way to design MMO combat.

Last I checked, I did not in fact work for Symantec.

But then South Korea would possess a weapon of mass destitution.
