A little rude don't you think?

only if they dont make it

The hardest part of the waiting (at least for me) has been that the games out there that are playable at the moment are mediocre at best.

I think we are just in desperate need of some positive news. I think we are close.  ;D

Not funny.  I change those every day... ;D
It would be a lot less funny if it was every other day.  :o
So far so good. Onward and upward!

I've been having lots of fun with GTA online, it doesn't satisfy my "hero fix", but its a good enough distraction.

lol no

I've only got 4 GB because I haven't been able to upgrade since getting Win7 and it runs fine.  The latest greatest games at highest quality graphics?  No, but I don't really play those games anyway.  And certainly don't have time for them now anyway...

Man, if people are so upset with MWM over CoT's update schedule... They must *REALLY* hate me. Lol.

Your work is necessarily hamstrung by the original purpose of this thread.  You could be completely done by now and it wouldn't matter.  Hell, and I hate to say it, but it might end up never mattering if you-know-what happens.

Also, who ever said anything about an update schedule?  You folks sure do love shoving words down other people's throats.

Quote from: Pyromantic on March 16, 2015, 01:33:00 PM
Do you seriously want an update that reads like this: "The art guys built some stuff.  A mailbox and a lamppost.  Couple of trucks.  The techie guys tried to build the mapmaker function but it didn't work, so back to the drawing board on that one.  Powers guys ran another few thousand simulations and tweaked the output formula for defense."?

I've seen other games write blog posts relating only vaguely to specific development efforts, which instead are more of a peek inside how they're doing what they're doing rather than specifically what they're doing.  This lets your fanbase know you're still alive versus churning out the latest unreadable glorified fanfic.  And no, I'm not going to stalk the official forum for information, that's what e-mail updates are for.

Also, the post you linked to lists the 12 Days of Dev-mas, which on top of being a pretty big let-down also bore a remarkable similarity to the types of updates you just described.  Combat slide-rule, really?

You're being rude, and to Irish_Girl of all people.  She has nothing to do with CoT.  You really should apologize.

I honestly dont expect anything substantial from cot till sept-november window of 2015. if there isnt anything showable by that time I might be concerned. I dont pretend to understand the arcane art that is mmo building.  as for Irishgirl...even if she had the whole dang game coded she really couldnt show too much to avoid the dreaded "cease and desist" letters. I figure she is doing what Irish girls do best, graphical kung fu and taking care of business.....

That would depend on if you're using a Solid State drive or not, I'd think. Currently, my system has a 60 Gig SSD and a regular 1TB drive. the SSD has the operating system, and (while it was still a working thing) CoH on it. the TB drive has everything else. And I've only used about a third of the TB drive, so far.

I think even the days of <1TB SSD are fast departing.  My system at work has a pair of Samsung 1TB 840 Pros, and those I got for only about $600 a piece.  Today I see the exact same drives on Amazon for $499 ($440 with Amazon Prime's discount).  The 850 EVO is an almost ridiculous $390 with Prime, and Crucial has a similar priced drive.  I would not be surprised to see a 1TB consumer flash drive for <$200 on the street within the next year and ~$100 in the next two to three years.

Still waiting on those super fast pci express ssd's to drop. They are but very very slowly.

As someone who does alot of multi tasking and video rendering my computer was pretty sluggish at only 4gb. And running multiple clients of CoX wasn't very stable either. But once I upgraded to 8 and then to 16 it gave me much more to work with.

Also helps with compressing large files.

I take full advantage of my 16 GB of Ram while working on Revival. lol. You could work with much less, but I find it easier with more. Able to have a lot more programs open at once, and switch between them easily.

Oh, yeah, no doubt you'd need more RAM for that.  I was able to get 2 and I think even 3 CoH clients running, although in the case of two clients one would have to be on rock bottom settings.

Main issue is that my motherboard is so old that I really don't have a lot of room to expand, never mind the money issue.  Gimme a year+ to graduate and start making non-Monopoly money, then Mr. Computer and I are gonna have a little talk...

Those "12 days of Devmas" were horribly underwhelming. The presentation was awful, and whoever the poor soul was that this got thrown to, obviously had no real interest in doing it. There seemed to be very little pre-planning involved and basically consisted of the narrator continuously swinging the camera all over the place, desperately trying to come up with enough to say to justify the video. And that weapon aura?  Jeeeesus that was embarassing.

I never understood wtf that combat slide rule thing was either

I did have fun playing Valiance Online last night. I am happy they are in their pre-alpha and it gives me high hopes of what is possible once the game is released. I should have been specific and said I was not including games in their alpha or beta stage.

I will try the game you suggested too.  :)

Each day of Devmas the "Devs" showed some of the freebies the subscribers would get.  Each gift item representing something about each "Dev's" avatar.  The Mind Control Beard from Doctor Tyche, The paintbrush with the petals was to represent a gift from Petalstorm who I believe is the art director for COT.  The backpack from "Sheep from Hell"  The neck dragon from Terwyn, The Combat Slide Rule from Domo, etc.

we will get what we get when we get it and that is the bottom line. i was all worked up last august, but at this point ive lowered my expectations and am doing other things. my blood pressure is bad enough without top secret shenannigans to worry about. when they announce something I will be "cool". until then I am leveling a horde hunter. swtor laid too many turds to stay with it.

Risha

I've spent a while reading the previous pages (yes, my book is behind deadline, can you tell?).  Not sure how many people care about my particular perceptions, but here they are.

1) I ponied up a significant amount for CoT, absolutely just a tad more than I could afford that month at that time.  I have not been contacted about my rewards yet, that would be built into the game.  That's okay.  My problem was with the (now seen as unrealistic) character creator which was supposed to be somewhat available near the end of last year.  That disappointed me.  However THIS character creator didn't even meet 1/10th of what is needed (4 days to go and I've pledged) https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/312140849/pictodon-character-portrait-designer  So I've had a recent reality check.  Yes, disappointed in CoT but waiting.

2) CoT updates. I do outtakes of my work every Thursday on FB.  That can take several hours so I don't disappoint my readers.  I understand how much time updates take and would rather not have updates if it takes away from the work. That said, I don't read the lore because I pretty much world build every day, and want to learn the lore as I play.

3) NOT DISAPPOINTED IN THE TALKS.  I understand NDAs having signed some in my previous career.  I've been watching a lot of CoX videos on you tube.  :)  I HAVE WAKE ME UP WHEN THERE'S NEWS Notification enabled, so I don't come here as often.  I am patient.  If CoX coming back was announced tomorrow, I'd scream so loud all Metro Denver could hear it.  Otherwise...well, I'd like to trick or treat in Kings Row with a level 5 or Peregrine Island with a level 50.

4) I did Dr. Q once or twice.  LONG.  I've always enjoyed TFs and never quit one, I'm stupid loyal that way (as has also been proven in real life which is why I yearn to escape into CoX again).  I have tried a lot of other games and not found a home.  I've tried VO but it's nice to look at but not much to play YET.

5) Since I don't game and my job is writing, I only have an older Alienware and a 1T drive hooked up currently.  I will probably get a new computer when one of the new successor games comes online.

I think I've covered all the topics.  Good to see the community, good to interact and share (I really don't like the word "share" it's more like "inflict" doncha think?).  Thanks for letting me inflict.

I learned the value of a HDD mirror today. The latest Win 10 update sent my machine into a hard crash loop, boot/crash, boot/crash over and over. Nothing I could do could stop it or save it, so I sacrificed the mirror for a clean re-install. When I went to the forums to report it they had obviously had their fill as it had already been patched.

Still updating now, I will transfer my files and programs after the OS gets back up to speed, ~Whew!~ It's been a frustrating day, but I am finally back online, bless Google Chrome for the sync feature, it saved all my cookies, passwords and bookmarks.

Well, y'know... You're not meant to be using that on a production PC... Not the least of which because -everything- you do, is logged and sent to MS, including keystrokes.
