Just wondering... when they began handing out respecs like they were candy, did they do away with the whole respec mission thing? I loved that mission.

Man, how I miss our game.
If I was a Jedi, there's a 100% chance that I'd use The Force inappropriately.

Definitely existed right up to the last moments. Did two of them for shiggles during sunset.

My Dr Q policy was this: get the badge on badge collecting toons then never run it again unless I'm really in need of merits.

Preferred to run ITF ad nauseum for merits.

When the game returns and can be modified, I'd like to see an option for all TF/SF's  where you can select to run it SOLO.  The TF/SF will be set to spawn enemies at the minimum party size needed to start the TF/SF, unless you are set to a higher spawn rate of course.   I always did enjoy sending in certain super powered characters of mine to pummel Romulus.

I almost completed a Dr. Q.. once but I made the team angry sticking up for an AFK Door sitter..

I decided the best way to get merits was running The Freakshow War 6 times a day, gets more merits than a Dr Q and can be done in half an hour on +4 x8 itha  good build if the freakshow/council negotiation group spawns fast enough.

34 merits x 6 =204 merits a day, very helpful for slotting toons. I usually finished the day off with an ITF or STF for a change of pace and human interaction as it's hard to get people to run TFW multiple times especially seeing as for some reason it seems to slow down with a lot more super stunners when you have a larger team regardless if you were already running at +4 x8.
There is always another way. But it might not work exactly like you may desire.

A wise old rabbit once told me "Never give-up!, Trust your instincts!" granted the advice at the time led me on a tripped-out voyage out of an asteroid belt, but hey it was more impressive than a bunch of rocks and space monkies.

Personally, I gave up doing TFs for Reward Merits as soon as the Super Packs came out - they gave me literally more merits than I could reasonably spend on my characters.

The writing of content like missions and TFs/SFs often does look like story writing.  What I would be bumbed about is if all that was produced was a printed page of comics.  I don't want to read static dialog and look at pics of toons fighting.  I want to be the hero/bad mouse in the middle of the fight.  One day, we'll be able to make npcs that reach to free flow, unpredictable replies from us biologics.  On that day, I will rejoice.  Until then, I still want to be the one driving the story.  Not looking at some comic writer's work who decided dr. bad guy gets a punch in he face from mr. good guy.  I'd rather shoot dr. bad guy in the face with a 30mm grenade from my multifunction assault rifle with a round house kick to the head to boot. (pun intended)

I don't know why you people took me so literally on the "make a comic book" thing.  My point was that virtually all of the updates up to this point have amounted to little more than a comic book.  That's it.

But are you really "driving the story" when "punch in the face" and "grenade + boot to the head" both result in the same dialog and advancement upon mission completion?

Yes and no.  I guess the question is what's more important, the destination or the journey?  In both cases, the destination is the same.  But how we got there varies.  And isn't the how we got there the meat and potatos of the story?

Yeah it did get to the point of using super packs rather then asking people to pad the ITF for me to start it up and solo it.

Or for XP/inf and AE tickets, I'd upload and run my modified nemesis farm map in AE.  Activate my SS/Fire brute and pulverize the Nemesis, with the exception that I changed it so that there were no Nemesis Lt's thus NO vengeance for the Nemesis when an Lt was taken down.  I substituted the Lieutenants from another group......fun times :)

IIRC, Nate posted on Facebook something to the effect of "doesn't matter how many times they say 'no.'  They only have to say 'yes' once."

The way I read it, he didn't mean TFHM was just waiting for a 'yes' on one particular point of contention.  The team had to keep trying until it found a deal that satisfied everyone involved.

While people have been stating their personal beliefs of where things are at, I'm trying not to have a belief in any particular direction.  There simply isn't enough information available to know whether the negotiations are completely stagnant, on the brink of success, or even if the deal has gone through pending some work to ensure the server image can be made functional.  I know where I want things to be, but I haven't seen any evidence to suggest where they actually are.

On a similar note, I don't understand why people are so negative about CoT right now.  How much would you expect to see at this point?  There is a looooong way to go in development, and the only reason we've even heard about the game this early is the manner in which it started.  Paying attention to the CoT forums does reveal plenty of evidence of preproduction work though.  It seems every time a thread pops up in the "Suggestions" forum about a possible subsystem, a dev comes along and says "We've already worked out that one, including having it run through simulations.  We just can't reveal the details yet."  It makes sense that it's much easier for them to reveal lore, because that isn't nearly so dependent on having the technical work practically done before being palatable for public viewing.

Thank you for the clarifications :) I set my hopes high to keep me going, but in reality, I would just like to get some good news or movement forward by the end of the year lol I've been privy to betas of many MMOs and the actual development of many projects, including one game. Public info release was always a picky topic since no one wanted to release anything that made anyone involved look unfavorable, nor did they want to release work that wasn't up to par in their own eyes - last part is a reference to some people who wonder why CoT is not releasing updated content info.

Indeed, I thought it changed the equation from needing to do TFs for merits to being able to pick the ones you wanted to do just for fun.  Personally, I thought that rather freed up my time - less grinding to do.

Did anyone run a Dr. Q with Incarnate characters, and did it make it substantially easier/faster?

Wow, haven't heard that name in a while!  ;D  Imp helped me get quite a few Mo-TFs on protector.  We ran a Statesman (Ms. Liberty TF by then) during sunset.  I certainly hope he'll be back once the game becomes available!

I have his e-mail address and I know where he lives (in southern CA).  If he doesn't come back, I'm personally sending an extraction team.  :)

I don't know, but given that the latest estimated dates for deliverables is November of this year, I think I understand the frustration of people who feel like they are just getting lore updates.

That's why your characters should be purpled-out to the max and with your 5x LotG Recharges at low levels as well.  :)

I love voice overs so much! However, from what I hear the amount of money required to include them in a game is a deal breaker. Comes down to which will bring in more money... money spent doing voice overs or that same money spent to produce more content. While the answer normally falls down to more content, I'd like more voice overs.

That's why you don't hire expensive voice actors. You can either use the people you have already and make it a bit of side development when a game publish is finished or find volunteers within our own amazing community.

Voice work to me would simply be a bonus.
