Chance Jackson

I don't understand the COT hate when I donated I wasn't expecting anythin in the playable/substantial realm for like 3 years
Chance Jackson was my Global, I mostly played on Triumph Toons: LIEGE CHEETATRON X - Bots/Traps/Mu lvl 50 +3; DOWN RIGHT FIERCE - SJ/Fire/Soul Brute lvl 50 +3; FIGHT OF YOUR LIFE -KM/Nin/Fire Stalker lvl 50 +3; TIME MAY CHANGE ME - Time/Sonic/Dark; INFERNAL SAMURAI - DB/Fire/Fire lvl 50 +3 replaced by "NITORYU" - DB/WP probably a brute; THUNDEROUS BRUTE - Elec/Shield Scrapper; And Many More!

Yeah, I don't get it either, they are getting all the backbone work done, there is really not much to see until they can move beyond that.
We're almost there!  ;D

The RNG hates me.

Y'know, I hadn't even thought of the impact on other games. More along the lines of general "this is cool, more MMOs should do it," but now I realize that for NCsoft specifically, using CoH as a trial run for this sort of thing could be a big deal for all their games.

...which isn't all that good a thing, since it just means they've closed down lots of games.

While I never played exteel or auto assault. Tabula Rasa was among another ncsoft game shut down before it's time.

There are always those who are "I want this right nao", that have no understanding that creating a game takes time.  They also seem to be of the same attitude about these negotiations, so they look for any means to try and get information early or push for everything and often, due to this general lack of understanding, end up hurting things far more.  It's like that impatient king/overlord thats ruling over some alchemist who immedietly grabs the creation long before it's ready and then ruins everything for himself and completely destroys his own chance at world domination :).

Speaking of which, time to try out that robco certified mod for new vegas and see about making deathclaws into cyborgs......
Currently; Not doing any streaming, found myself with less time available recently.  Still playing starbound periodically, though I am thinking of trying other games.  Don't tell me to play mmohtg's though please :).  Getting back into participating in VO and the successors again to.

Games take time. For me game delays usually mean the developer wants to make sure the players get their money's worth. A game delay for me means a caring developer. Where MMOs are concerned things definitely need to handled carefully. In this instance these are people (former City of Heroes players) and they know who is watching, us. They are probably doing a lot of careful examinations and explorations to ensure the product meets not only meets the expectations of the general masses, but also to the hardest critics of all, former City of Heroes players.

FACT: MMOs take years, not months to create.

It's a monumental undertaking, that involves a lot of pieces that all require attention. Sometimes delays are because something just doesn't work, or you have to learn a whole new method of doing something to get it right. I've had to essentially start Revival over from scratch a couple times, mostly because I learned a far better way of doing things and needed everything to match up with that new method.

Very often, especially when the team is small, you have to make a choice between getting more work done and putting together an update showing said work.
(This is the reason I started with daily updates on Revival, and have since changed that. I was spending far too much time stressing about "todays update" and not enough getting things done.)

Then there's also the consideration of what the team is working on. If the team is focusing on coding back end functions, while the artists learn how some of Unreal's newer tools work... There's not going to be much to show.

Trust me. 99% of Revival's work is done by me. I know how much work every aspect of it is.

(Re-reading this... the "Trust me." makes me sound like some kind of used car salesman. xD)

While I'm waiting anxiously to see how your project will eventually turn out, I'd rather hear about your progression towards the end goal whenever you feel a successful stage in development has been reached rather than a daily/weekly report that just says "Still working on it", or "Look at the Shineys!".

Oh, and in your case, I'd consider you a used game salesperson.  Keep on buffing a true classic!

Best Wishes and Thanks for taking on such a monumental project.

I am very aware that it takes time, I'm just supremely sick of the lore updates and wish they would given us something a little more substantial.  If they're really doing heavy backbone work than surely there are updates that can be gleaned from that, no?

The negotiations are another beast altogether, it's basically a given that there's an NDA involved, and NCsoft is notoriously jumpy about the whole thing and nearly walked away once before when some idiot on Facebook forced Nate's hand.

I remember that, I also am 99% sure on who it is as well. It is the same person I called fail on, and for my troubles I get the whole, blahblahblah speech if I do not like it, I will get kicked.
Even though I think there is a NDA, I am happy and grateful to the team (even though they cannot say anything) for their efforts for getting our home back. :)

Didn't they just recently show us part of their graphics and textures test-bed?

And if you really expect them to get more work done, then you'll have to help get their kids to school and take out the trash and buy groceries, so they can afford to spend more time on the game.

Be Well!

What I've been hearing is that a chunk of that was discovered to be part of Unreal4 and not an original development.  At any rate, it's a start, but I was honestly rather dismayed at the extraordinarily poor quality of Polygon Santa.

As for supporting them, you've actually got a really good point.  I should probably pay them $70 or something.  Oh wait.  I already did.  Really starting to wonder if it was a complete waste.

Be Well!

I'm pretty sure that everything that the COT team showed us from the Unreal 4 package was announced to be part of the program rather than a COT innovation at the time of display.

So... Are you guys looking for something like this? http://cityoftitans.com/content/test-zone-developing-basics

Also A feature being included in the engine, and being able to harness it are totally different things.
The engine has built in tools to build and manage particle systems, that doesn't mean it comes with fireworks out of the box.

What?  I thought games were made in 1 year?  Seriously the impatience I am seeing amazes me some times.  No COH yet so people are turning towards COT?  Anyone who has followed a game through out most it's life knows that it takes several, several years to get any kind of stellar results.

COH is probably a good year away from coming back, if NCSoft plays nice maybe we will see it before 2016.  COT is even further away.  If anyone is expecting to play either of these games this year....well I wouldn't hold your breathe.

Any kind of time frame or release date would be pure speculation at this point.  So give them a little breathing room.  Every 6 months some one starts jumping down the throats of the people who are trying to either help us, or create a new home for us.

Interesting, certainly the first time I'm seeing it.  I would think you'd prioritize communicating that to people who donated to you...

Drop the strawman bud, nobody is saying that games are made in a year.  The only thing I expect are substantive and relevant updates, not cabbie fanfics.

what people have said, and I agree, is that there is a time pressure for ncsoft to move on this opportunity. currently they have an IP that no one has seen in 2 years. its not marvel or star wars, it doesnt have a cultural presence to survive on. It decreases in value every month that no one sees it. in about a year when other superhero ips start being available, the ship will have sailed. there is nothing special about the coh ip that cant be duplicated legally by others. look at the lore base for cot. a deal in the next couple of month will have value. a deal next year will be balanced against at least 2 other products that are not 10+ years old. I feel that there is probably a lot going on behind the scenes for all 3 options. some they cant talk about, some they dont really have time to do a dog and pony show. we will see. one of the problems of a kickstarter campaign is that people gain a certain feeling of ownership(they did after all pay for it)

I agree with this.  If some people think 2017 is agreeable they are kidding themselves.  I deal should have marketing budgets because by that time you would have to build a base in order to make it financially viable.

It's in the 'News' section of the CoT Forums. I donated as well and it's where i look to find out what is going on.
