I didn't farm either, but I occasionally did radio missions over and over at +4/x8; or went to Cimerora and fought the rebel romans on the citadel walls. It was relaxing when I needed that, and modestly profitable. .. wait, I may have farmed a little bit after all.  :o
Ha!   I guess I did too!   Loved hitting those walls with my Scrappers.

I wasn't bashing, I was simply saying that those of us still hanging in for the game to come back are far more likely to just want to PLAY for a few months, rather than get back into the farming schtick.

Can you honestly sit there and say all you want to do is to come back and start farming?
I don't.    I was never much of a farmer.   What I want is to play my characters.  I want the joy of taking on some Malta and Carnies with my lvl 50 Blasters and Controllers.   Since it took me 6-7+ years to get them, farming is the only way I can get them back again this time.

Kinda interesting that the "clean slate" is going to turn me into a farmer!   :D

Lots of interesting ideas here too.   Some of it actually sounds like fun.   I'll be peeking over some shoulders to see how it's done.

Thezanman

I used to just farm for people for free with my fire/electric tanker because it was fun for me. I remember the force feedback recharge enhancement on thunder strike, I loved that character.

Ankhammon

Hearing you all talking about farming makes me think it will be mandatory in the first few months back. At least until there is a surplus of recipes around.

I wonder if I can make my time/ice into a farmer on the cheap?
Cogito, Ergo... eh?

Nope, in fact I'm having a hard time deciding between running my favorite shining stars>Faultline>croatoa arcs first or going to praetoria. I really miss goldside and it's beauty and suspense that the story and missions gave.

Always thought it was a damn shame that goldside was simply a 1 - 20 tutorial area. (wonders if Revival will eventually have more there)

Yes, for me in order to enjoy the game you need resources. Resources include IOs, Prestige to make a base, etc. I'm the type that likes to have all end of game IOs ready before making a new character. Plus farming is relaxing for me. Doing the same repetitive motions and get resources from it with little to no effort just smooths my mind. You can say its like making a rock garden gives a person zen xD

Point:  The second ward zone and the Night Ward took you up to level 40, all without leaving Praetoria.

I have to say that I mostly hated the Night Ward.  There was that one mission I ran twice:  Once as a duo and once as a team of about 8, where you have to defend the Midnighter's mansion... and it's wave upon wave of those living spells?  That. Was. Awful.

I think it's only "mandatory" (in quotes because: what is ever mandatory in a game you're playing for fun?*) if you're like Harpospoke above, and want to get your 50s back ASAP. Which is an interesting viewpoint. I mean, it makes sense, but since I only ever got 3 50s, and had more fun with the storylines than trying real hard to get to 50 or get fully slotted or what have you (because it would have driven me crazy) I absolutely will not farm. I'll stroll through and take my time to get to 50+. I understand the mentality, and honestly many of my character concepts rely on the character actually being a full hero, not a level 5 "I only have three powers" sort of guy, so getting to a decent level is important for concept (and game enjoyment to a certain extent), but I just can't deal with farming for the sake of farming.

*I almost left the typo "a game you're playing for fin" in because I think playing a game for a dude named Fin or for actual fins might be funny somehow.
I used CIT before they even joined the Titan network! But then I left for a long ol' time, and came back. Now I edit the wiki.

There's always idle-farming: you can't play 24 hours a day, but your computer can.

I did firstward and nightward but I don't recall there being enough arcs to get you to 40 without just staying there and waiting on other people to team with. Not sure if that made sense... Like I can get to 20 in praetoria and still have some missions left but soon you outlevel the content unless you exemplar and in firstward and nightward I don't remember having enough missions. You eventually run out of them and have to join someone else to continue leveling via the arcs.

I used to go to Ouro and solo the old Positron TF - tons of merits for little work if you have a specific character built for the -20 world. I could solo it in less than 45 minutes.

What did you use ? took me about an hour with my fire/nrg blaster although I wasn't IOd.

With ninja run and some building, you could get close (maybe even to) the run speed hard cap.

Ninja Run + Sprint + Quickness + 5x Gift of the Ancients Run Speed IO's. I ran that on my Claws/SR Scrapper.

There is always another way. But it might not work exactly like you may desire.

A wise old rabbit once told me "Never give-up!, Trust your instincts!" granted the advice at the time led me on a tripped-out voyage out of an asteroid belt, but hey it was more impressive than a bunch of rocks and space monkies.

I used clawls/wp scrap and i think my best time x1 was 36 minutes. (that was some seriously lucky mission placement though. the order of that one made a huge difference - if the skyway mishes got split up you were looking at an extra 5 mins independently of how fast you killed.) when it comes back i'm remaking that character as a budget blowing exemping widow for merit whoar soloing of posi/syn/yin/silvery mantits. really though if you could do it in an hour without an IOd build you were already ahead of the game. mine was purped to the nines for heavy spin recharge.

I used this line at work a few days ago... they just looked at me oddly....

But I did get to use the line "from a non linear, non subjective point of view, its a big ball of wibly wobbily timey wimey.... stuff" again  to describe accounting problems.

Now that's a metric with relevance to me since i only see a count of 280 pages, assertions of 700 pages to the contrary, but i know many others probably see more pages.  ;)  The number of posts is not dependent on individual user settings.  :P

I wasn't a huge farmer, but I did love the full build on me Fire/Fire Tanker, and most of it was cheap. I liked to "stress-test" her on high-diff radio missions and it would make a decent amount in salvage and recipes. I didn't like to think of it as farming - I was playing the game, would do the same if the mobs dropped nothing, but it was certainly profitable. Honestly, I probably won't be able to rebuild her properly until the prices on a few things drop or the philanthropy community gets going - I won the LotG +Recharges in a costume redesign contest, and they were the big-ticket IOs in the build.

Might try a Kin Troller for early farming, though I don't really like group farms so much.
