Ugh. It's been too long. I nearly forgot EAT stood for Epic Archtype and thought you wanted to barbecue or cook one up somehow.

Wonder if Rikti tastes like chicken...

They taste like crab ragoon that's been left out too long.

Don't ask how I know this, my shade was a psychopath :<

Rikti, PPD/Longbow/Wyvern/Vanguard, Quantum/Galaxy, Trolls/Thugs and Circle of Thorns Mages all have great potential as EATs. So do Praetorian Clockworks and Hamidon Infected. . .

I would love to see all of them eventually!

Do it again.
It takes a village to raise a child. And it takes a villain to explain the value of lunch money.

Now, for some reason, I'm envisioning standing around in Atlas Park and suddenly hearing "aaaaAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaa!!!" as some poor citizen is dragged past me by a pack of dogs.

Or is being chased by a pack of dogs.

or...Ewoks?

DUDE. I have been having Rikti EAT dreams for YEARS. I also kind of wanted to see a Seer, and Praetorian Police EATS.
I thought they would be awesome.

You can't eat Rikti! They're people too!

Not sure what a Seer EAT would be like, but I seriously wanted that Seer costume for some of my toons! It was just way too cool!

If I were going to make an EAT from a critter group, it would probably be Carnival of Shadows.  To be a good EAT basis, a critter group should not only have enough of a power base from which to construct good power progression trees, it must also offer something unique relative to what players already had.  Otherwise its just a remix of existing player archetypes and powers.  Longbow, for example, are already sufficiently player-like in many respects that they ironically don't offer something new.

With Carnies, I could see making a "Harlequin" path and a "Strongman" path, similar to the options in VEATs.  The Harlequin path would be the more blasterish/dominatorish path that lead from Fencer-like abilities all the way up to enhanced versions of DRMs or MIs.   The Strongman path would be the more brutish path and would need an alternate set of end points that were comparable to DRMs and MIs that didn't exist in the normal Carnie critter group but could be extrapolated.  I can see lots of opportunities to make an EAT that was fairly consistent with Carnies but offered substantially different progressional gameplay from existing archetypes.

Just offering a variation of the MI phase shift ability to players would make that one branch very attractive.  The trick would be balancing that with the greater game and with the other Carnie EAT (CEAT?) options.  I actually had some ideas there that I never got the chance to write up.

I've already made a reasonably good Seer costume (not all of the costume pieces are available, so I used the closest equivalents), and the powersets are (mostly) already there.  Go with Dominator - Mind Control / Psionic Assault / Psionic Mastery.  That is, after all, Mother Mayhem's powerset combo.

I always did, and always will if CoH can make a comeback, campaign for a Rikti EAT. They had a ton of story depth there, loads of room for trees and diversity, the full works. I even spent some time using a Rikti costume code on a Hero-side Fortunata to simulate a Rikti Traditionalist working for Vanguard. Ky'Net, or 'Kenny', was great fun. Just a shame he didn't have his own AT.

Also, yes. I am back from lurking. Rejoice, fleshbags :P

While I'm not opposed to a new EAT,  I don't think any of the proposals ( from villain groups ) warrant it.  What I could see are perhaps new power
sets that are similar, and new costume pieces.

If they're going to spend time making a new EAT, I'd rather it be something new.

I have a Seer character waiting for revival, actually.  I didn't go with Dom, but instead she was a Thugs/Pain MM who was pretty close to the Seer outifts with some parts from PPD specialists.  Just add in an intentional Hover animation glitch and she would even move like a Seer most of the time.

That said, if I was going to make Goldside EATs, I wouldn't use a Seer, most likely.  It's already somewhere between a Fortunata and a Bane Spider, including the latter's pesky sublimated free will and pseudo-hivemind.  Possibly a D.U.S.T. Ranger, although in practice it would probably end up too similar in feel to an Aranchnos Spider VEAT.  More likely Clockwork and Carnie EATs, with specialization paths by manufacturer for the bots and faction for the latter.

for Revival...I gave an estimate of Fall 2015.

NOTE: This number is totally pulled out of nothing. Don't take it as gospel, but it's the best anyone's getting for now.

Wait... 1.5 will be ready by Fall 2015? I didn't think CoH I23 (Legacy) could be  ready much sooner than that if the deal were done today.

Also, on avatar mesh sizes, my little characters had MUCH easier time in caves and tunnels than my full height character. My guys tended to be short for a REASON.

Scendera

Mine were all average to tall for a woman, but still smaller than many male characters. Realistic size/builds, really.

I learned from EQ and trying to main a halfling warrior that being short results in being stuck on geometry more often than not and watching everyone else rush in ahead while you're trying to make it up a ledge roughly ankle height to the elves. I learned from WoW that the reason most dwarves look faintly hostile all of the time is the camera is giving them hemorrhoids anywhere that requires you to fight in close to a wall.

I learned to hate both long before I got as far as CoH.

I'd vehemently disagree on the part of the Ritki. For a group that are such a key part of the CoH backstory, there's still been relatively little exploration into their backstory, their world, culture, etc. That's the entire point of the 'Epic' part of EAT; being heavily tied into the story.

Between a new body-type and costume parts unique to that race, options for cool new powers and AT synergy/style, and the weight of lore surrounding them, I'd say that Rikti were the perfect choice for a new EAT, and iirc the Devs were actually making some plans in that area before the shutdown.

Eh, a lot of these things don't need their own archetype, just some creativity with character descriptions and powerset combos.
