Works for me.  An all-PVP, everywhere server?  Sure, sounds great.  Let PVE and PVP be neatly separated.

I could rattle off a list of things I did not care for much about WoW, but one thing that I think they got right was suggesting certain server to players for PvE, PvP, and RP. With the exception of the extended PvP areas, you could do pretty much anything on any server of course, but it increased the percentage of people around you who had similar interests. Like many of the comments I read on here, I did not care for the direction they took with PvP. Personally, I would have rather my powers work the same way across the entire game.

I'm going to chime in on this PvP fiasco since it seems like everyone has forgotten about the ability to SWITCH BUILDS. Like sweet baby Jesus, you can literally have the best of both worlds if you want.
I used that for team and solo builds.
QuoteIf you have trouble with nukes, don't f*****g get nukes, problem solved. Oh but you think you're somehow entitled to nukes? Too f*****g bad. Deal with it. Nukes were put in a pvp zone so they couldn't be farmed to no end and exploited it's pretty obvious how over powered they were.
Seemed like we needed them for whatever task we were doing...can't remember what it was.
QuoteI plain and simple just want this game back in any shape or form, the only thing bugging me is that it could shut down again in a couple years for 1.5. I don't want 1.5 at all, I want the original, I could care less how cluttered and problematic it is because I know this community is capable of finding a way to fix said problems. Like many others I would have a machine dedicated to this game alone. I really don't see how they could port this entire game over to a new engine within that time frame but if they actually do port -all- of the powers and AT's I'd probably give it a try. I just don't see that as a reasonable possibility.
I believe the goal is to keep CoH I23 running even after Coh 1.5.

Actually this is the the most sane justification why Shivans and Nukes are not supposed to be in PvP zones. They really don't have any application in PvP (unless you want to set off 8 nukes and try to lag the other team out, but I never even seen that)
lol...gotta admit most people wouldn't see that coming, right?

So as a pvp'r does that mean all my rewards shouldn't involve any PvE? Why should I have to spend hours farming for rewards? I mean technically if you don't want anything to do with PvP why should I have to suffer through PvE? I don't want to spend hours killing a single mob for some accolade, but I did. I don't want to rinse/repeat missions for incarnate rewards, but I did. I don't want to have to team up with random people to achieve some certain objective to gain levels, but I did. I'm pretty sure you having to spend -maybe- an hour trying to achieve a nuke isn't that big of a deal.

I think if PvE'rs don't want to be involved with any pvp then the opposite should be the only fair option. If that becomes the case, great, if not? I don't have a sliver of sympathy when it comes to -one- goal being in a pvp zone.
Decent point...but I would submit the game was originally all PvE so it wasn't set up to allow a way for PvP players to avoid PvE.   Another problem is that the rewards you get in PvE (lvls, Inf) can be used either in PvE or PvP.   So if you got those things only in PvP there would be nothing exclusive to PvP about them.   Not quite the same as being forced to enter a zone which does not interest you for rewards which are not relevant to that zone.

Now, if you are developing a game with those two things in mind from the start, that's a great option to include.

The sad thing is I can't ever think about heads on pikes without smiling slightly, thanks to Babylon 5:

You've never seen Babylon 5? You missed a good series, watch it when you can.
But, you need to start with the pilot movie, then move forward as some events in the pilot will have repercussions.  Once you get through Season 1 the series picks up steam fast and moves forward.

And don't worry too much about season 5...

Idk, somehow Babylon 5 just slipped off my radar. I'll most likely start watching it when I get back to working next week.

Well Season 5 was the wind down given that JMS didn't know if he'd get a 5th and had to wrap the big stuff in Season 4.   Still it had some good episodes, not many but some.

Watch it when you can, it is good.   About half of Season 1's episodes are a bit shaky at times but that is to be expected from a first Season.
