Ryo-

This post in the "And the mask comes off" thread might have some of the information you're looking for.

To sum, it doesn't sound like i24 is completely off the table, but it doesn't look like it's currently part of the negotiations.

EDIT: Also, what Irish_Girl said, and she's much more informed than I.
Irish_Girl is also much better informed than I am. I'm just rephrasing what the people in the know have said - right now, it's i23, but nothing's set in stone and things will change up to the last minute. If she says that i24 was still in bugfix mode, and NCSoft's not happy with having the buyers do the bugfixing, well, that's probably how it's going to be.

lmao. I'll keep that in mind, Kistulot.

Also, Best description of personal speciality...Ever. Of all time.

If you need someone for writing scenarios, I have experience with that.

Also, it's not a done deal yet with buying the IP. I'd recommend we just hold all the questions about starting with this, or upgrading to that until the sale is done.

I'm sure there will be a lot more information out by that point.

Well, when the sale is done, it'll be done. If there's something you want included, it'll need to be done by then. But I think we need to have faith that the buyers have an idea of what we want and why we want it, and will be pushing for that, and that it's a matter of their skill as negotiators and how far NCSoft is willing to go as to whether we get any of that.

If the lack of old characters, purchases, or i24 content means you're not interested in playing Maintenance Mode, I feel sincerely sorry for your losses, and hope you can find some solace in the prospects of a true sequel. But they are the same losses as the day the server closed, and the rest of us are getting a chance to go home. I really do hope that these issues can be sorted, and nothing's certain yet, but the information coming out sounds like there are serious, if not irreconcilable, problems with getting these things for Maintenance Mode. The whole deal may not happen still. Please don't start protesting in the streets or sending angry messages. Even if you're not prepared to play without these things (and there's nothing wrong with speaking up about that if it's true), please don't sabotage it for the rest of us.

I think you have misread the information posted. CoHi23 is not going to be up for just a few months....

I'm really glad for the efforts of IW and the Mysterions, errr Downix and Co.  ;D  I'm proud of you guys!

I also know that the critical piece they need/want is truly the IP - the ability to continue the CoX story.

That they're close to achieving that, I'm very pleased about.

Still, I have to confess - I'm quite disappointed in the CoH-I23 news and the poor condition it's in.

Assuming they get it at all (still a bit up in the air if I understand correctly), it looks like it would have an
extremely short shelf life (months to a year, maybe?), and any issues with running the game would be
problematic (to unsupportable) without source code.

I laud the new efforts, but they will take time and have uncertainties.

With the old COH, we knew what we had -- except now, we don't ....

Maybe the conversion to UE4 will be good, but it won't be the same (how could it when they don't
have the source code to work from), it won't be soon, and it won't truly be home.   :'(

Sorry to be a Negative Nancy, and I certainly don't want to detract from the team's efforts in any way, but
for me, this isn't really a champagne day -- I'm inclined to just wait and see if the new CoH's are any
good or not...  Trying to re-host I23 for a few months, start from scratch, just to have it go away again,
when they can't fix any issues seems ... pointless.

Nope. It'll be up for one month exactly. 30 days. That's all you get.

Hee, thanks! :) And I mean that, i do want to help, but I don't want to be a bother, so it's just there if it can help :)

Where were you when CoT had to manually set the Kickstarter backer status of people on our website? 8)

I think I actually ended up being too excited I managed to draw horses on twitter to be able to afford the 50$ tier. No lie. I said "I wish I was an artist so that I could do something like draw horses and make money" and someone said they'd pay me for a horse, so I did, and a few people paid me.  It is the weirdest way I have ever made money.

That said - the offer extends to you guys too! I just know you already have lots of people happy to help that you've been in contact with and I wouldn't want to be presumptuous to butt in at this late stage. I missed a loooot of the formative stages, and found myself feeling like it was a bit late for me to be of any use once I started looking around... but if you ever need another hand, I would be pleased as punch to assist :)

Artists can make really thick stacks of cash if they're smart, hate free time, and know what to draw. lol.

Very true!

So if any of your projects ever need an artist... my specialty is HORSES.

You can see why I do not consider myself an artist capable of hocing my skill and time - but hey, public humiliation to chip in to the spiritual successor efforts? Simple price to pay!

Oh I dunno... It's certainly an improvement on the My Little Pony designs... :p

And here I was starting to think I was the only CoHer that wasn't a My Little Pony fan.

Can't abide the bloody things.  If you're a 5 year old little girl, they're fine... But grown men?  Every single Brony needs their mancard confiscating!

I can't draw for beans either, so I use a crayon-like brush and credit it to fictional children, in this case a necromancer character of mine utilizes her favorite offensive spell.

Don't tempt me to post some of my pony art just to annoy those who feel the need to denigrate people for liking something that they don't.  I probably already would have if it wasn't completely unrelated to the actual subject of this topic.

I've got nothing against Ponies, or them that like Ponies. -shrugs-. I do remember the CoH Forums being completely overrun with pony pictures in the last few days.

I know, right? They were everywhere.

There's a saying that goes: If you hear hoofbeats, you think horses, not zebras.

After those last few days, when I hear hoofbeats, I think ponies.

In a row, or do we have, like, an hour's warning before it's up for X hours. :D
I wouldn't use the word "replace," but there's no word for "take over for you and make everything better almost immediately," so we just say "replace."

Sugoi

Hmm... so we'll be getting I23 reinstated with no old characters or previously earned / purchased rewards, powers, benefits?  I can live with that a lot better than I can live with the status quo, i.e., no CoH/V at all.

One thing I was discussing with my son is that in the posibility of no previous account info being available to the new game (which seems to be the case), I hope the new people running the game will consider offering a CoH "Supporter's Pack" (possibly at different pricing levels) with equivalent Veteran Rewards, Booster Pack items, Super Pack cards, and/or IO enhances.  Oh and let's not forget a nifty title or maybe even a special Backer's Badge.

Maybe something could be set up equivalent to an in-game Kickstarter packages arrangement, with donor rewards equivalent to the amount of funding backing the re-start of the game.
