I want to say that there were rumblings of old powersets being given a once-over to introduce some new mechanics to them so they were more interesting, but I can't say 100% that I was correct.
You are correct.

They had somewhat already started the process.  When they adjusted Gravity Control they added in the Impact mechanic, and totally redesigned Dimension Shift.

I'd like to see what they could do to trick archery.  That set was so lacking.  Oil slick arrow was it's only saving grace and it really felt like TA was a one trick pony as everything else it had just didn't have enough of a magnitude to make it compare to alot of other sets.
Currently; Not doing any streaming, found myself with less time available recently.  Still playing starbound periodically, though I am thinking of trying other games.  Don't tell me to play mmohtg's though please :).  Getting back into participating in VO and the successors again to.

Lately i haven't seen much about anything but the successor games and reminiscing about old characters and asking if any old characters moved on to new worlds when the city went dark on the CoH Facebook groups i belong to...

Alas, I said that, and not five minutes later a moron showed up on one FB group basically calling everyone cowards for bowing down to NCSoft.  Oh, and that since we didn't have the game now we weren't losing anything by blowing the deal.  Lovely.

I come back from the cinema to see a Twitter notification subtly hinting about this new deal and linking this thread and I spent the last couple hours getting caught up. Quite the verbal & emotional rollercoaster. I pretty much dropped all hope of the game seeing life again about a year ago and stopped frequenting this site well before that. So, hello all you wonderful people that likely don't remember me.  ;)

Welcome back. You might want to mosey on over to the Multimedia section, click the Icon subsection, and read all about Codewalker's work in giving us the costume creator back, and letting us run/fly around the game zones again. :)

And, for a sample of what else you can do with it, my characters' group photos are also in Multimedia.

I am new to the forums (well I have been lurking since shut down) and I can say this I would just love to have my game back after playing on and off for 5 years or so. I know people may be suspicious of what is happening and why now and not 2 years ago, or even worried about the studios involved but lets have some faith here.  Even if we start over its basically a clean slate, think of it as a reboot to a series which may bring in brand new life.

You win the award for missing the point.

I gave out updates as a favor to the community and the new Devs let me, out of the kindness of their hearts.
So now we owe you something? NCSoft may possibly be a PARTNER of the new company! I don't know and neither do you. NCSoft did not like what happened the first time. They don't want a repeat. If the game stays closed - NCSoft has no problems. If people start spamming hate when the word goes out the game might reopen - why would they sell it? Why start the bad press again? Can you even see it from their point of view?

They didn't like what happened - they don't want it to happen again. If it happens again they may do what happened last time and pull out. Does any of this get through? I am trying to phrase this in different ways so it may sink in - NCSoft does NOT have to sell the game. NCSoft does not like all the rumblings again - so try and maintain some decorum - at least until the deal is over.

This quote is antagonizing.

If NCSoft wants good press than that have to make positive steps. NCSoft made a mistake, and people need to move forward at this point.

We also have to acknowledge that like an old girl friend, there were reasons that you got together with her: and there's a reason you broke up; there's an issue of trust among other things so be weary of any dealings.  Right now the best course of action is to acknowledge that NCSoft has issues and we have baggage with them too, but, the goal here is: we want  "our" stuff back.  But they own the code so it's their stuff.  Even though they don't want it.

I just wish they'd be more responsible and try to do good with this situation and any former customers they might have slighted.  And maybe they'd realize that selling CoH to a company that'd take care of it would be in their best interest as far a a public image goes.

On a more personal note, I wish I knew what reasons the game wasn't sold two years ago.  I'd have thought that Paragon Studios (or whatever they would have become) would have been the perfect studio to keep the game going.  It was obvious to me that they loved the game and loved the customers and they loved their work.  It seems like any other potential buyer would be a distant second.

Anyway, best of luck new dev team.  It sounds like you're going to need it, and you have big shoes to fill.  But if you can buy the game, that's one miracle Paragon couldn't pull off, and that's an awesome start.

Do not know why y'all are harshing on the CoH facebook group. Nothing on there seems out of place, wildly speculative, or inflammatory.
Let's take a look and see what the top posts look like;

Just spreading the words of good advice! Everyone grab a towel and stay calm. Posting hurtful words will only make it worse and makes the CoX community look bad.

OK I want you guys to share this post to EVERY CoH groups on Facebook. People are STILL posting hate comments on NCsoft's page. I not putting anyone on a spot but, whoever you are you need to STOP right now! This is what Ironwolf said in the Titan forums:

Don't fucked this up for everybody or the CoH community will be no more!

BillandAmber Gilbert Somebody needs to ask these people, in a very non confrontational way, what is the best outcome they see coming from posting on NcSoft's website.

Alec Smith Like it or not NC earned the negative feelings from their customers. That being said trolling them with hate speech does nothing productive for anyone.

John Cunningham Are people really going onto NCSoft message boards and shit talking them about CoH? Two years after the fact... now that there's rumblings of a sale?

Seriously, WTF?? Is YouTube not working? Did someone take the Huffington Post of the internet? If you need to troll something, do it somewhere that actually matters, like here:

Hmm. Looks pretty friggin' close to exactly what's going on in this thread. Further posts are things like "What did you like most about tankers" and "Photo edit some screenshots!"
Don't know what facebook group you're all talking about, 'cuz this one is pretty calm.

I guess folks are posting very harsh inflammatory things on NCsoft's page.  I haven't looked myself, but that's what it sounds like anyway.

If your talking about their facebook page, I don't see anything there.  I think at least the people on the save city of heroes page are holding back.  I am not sure elsewhere.

Edit: It's also been posted in the save city of heroes page demanding people to stop doing that.

Facebook should become the next myspace.

You have to expand the last post or two to see them.

Most of the tirades are about the lack of updates for Blade and Soul, but there are a few CoH posts scattered in there.

I think these times are, truthfully, showing us who the real supporters of the community are.  People like that, honestly I wouldn't want them with us even after CoX is finally obtained.  If they are stupid enough to do things like that they are probably stupid enough to make CoH/CoV and the rest of us look bad.

Edit: Is it the save city of heroes group?

I'm at my laptop, with Icon running, getting ready to re-do my toons' group photo in widescreen to use as my laptop's wallpaper. I realize that I need to check something online, so I hook up my DSL cord. Then I see something that I haven't seen in way too long: ZoneAlarm tells me, "City of Heroes is trying to access the Internet."

Speed the day when telling ZA "yes" actually yields results!

He knows nothing of politics - and I don't mean national politics, I am talking about the politics that govern us as a species, social niceties understood by everyone with half a brain. Its enough to make you despair. And its enough to make me think that such people are not older than thirteen, such tactics are beyond childish.

And yes, that's the group.  I'm glad to say nobody agreed with him.

Definently, those people generally when they behave that way, are not true friends of anyone.  I figure a guy like that is more one of the communities bigger dangers and a danger to himself than anything.  Zealots are like that.  I am always joking "It's Zealot on Zealot!" because of how a pair of zealots of opposition often just keep endlessly getting furious at one another yet never ignoring one another on a subject.  Like two trolls who keep trolling each other.

All zealots ever do, is damage their own cause or point of view/side, nothing more.
