To the folks who are working on this deal - if you're reading this thread, and you see this post, thank you.

I want to echo that thought *specifically* directed to NCSoft, on the chance any of them are reviewing this wildly spamming thread. They are willingly coming to the table after all this time, making a contact available, offering a reasonable price, and having to collect and provide an accounting of whatever material components of CoX remain. None of this is necessarily easy or comfortable to do considering time, history, and the likelihood that many of those involved there aren't likely to even be familiar with the product anymore.

As far as I'm concerned it is a classy thing to do and has significantly and positively impacted my views of their company.

I did a quick google search - there are two four videos from today the last hour (!!) that have titles saying that the game is working, and the description is a url shortened link for downloading "the game". I do not think it is the game. I flagged the videos.

This could be a legit issue. The url shortening website says the links have thousands of hits, but I suspect that's not from the last hour, just the url being used for other scams.

On the plus side, several seem to have been taken down already, and the accounts banned.

I watch this thread eager to hear good news. I need good news right now... anything positive keeps me moving.

If I get my character/SG base data back, awesome.

If I don't, still awesome. I will sub as I did before and rebuild. Base building kept me sane. Teaming with my SG reduced my stress.

Watching SG friends use Lightning Rod and Shield Smash on the Eden trial making it rain crystal bits made me howl in laughter.

I hate to admit it, but in fairness, I too have considered the same thing. I bought GW 2 before the announcement and since they server went down it's last time I haven't set foot.

Here's what I'm putting in the report description section (under Spam or misleading > Scams / fraud): "City of Heroes is NOT available for download. There is a rumor about it being sold to a new company, and this video is taking advantage of that to get people to download an unknown file."

So if you (anyone with an interest in CoH and not scamming people) see anything that has various odd titles of CoH and "DOWNLOAD" in the name of the video, and a shortened URL as the only thing in the description, you should report it.

It appears to be the Facebook folks mostly.

If you note I did point them out expressly. I don't think this site registers on their radar. However a lot of people are linked to NCSoft. It really doesn't help when you are bashing the old boss when trying to get a new boss :)

I also as I said before saw a real difference in what I had been told and what NCSoft did and why. While I don't excuse all they did in the sunsetting - I do understand it. It does us zero good to be angry at them now, let's move ahead!

I've posted the link to your "calm it down Facebook" post on the Save City of Heroes page. I looked back through the Korean NCSoft page and haven't seen much posted recently regarding the CoH sunset. While I don't participate in all of the CoH FB pages, I hope your message will spread from that first page.

I also Tweeted to remain calm.

And prospective buyers of CoH, if you're reading this: I'd just ignore Facebook for a while. It's gone to the Americans.

That last sentence was from me to the people here, not what I included in the report. I don't think random YouTube mods would know what an "odd" title of CoH is.

My praise was specifically referencing what you did post to them, which I took to be:

I thought that was quick and good thinking, as well as very well worded and that telling them people might be taking advantage of a current rumor would encourage them to keep an eye out for it.

I prefer to think creative people should be allowed to flex their creative muscles.  You know, like devs for a videogame.

Just as long as in the process we don't lose what we've been trying so hard to get back. Nothing ruins something good more than trying to fix what isn't broken. Hopefully they will flex their creative muscles with new powers, but leave the existing ones alone.

Yeah, your shortened wording implies it's any video with that sort of title, but really it's anything from today onwards. I did a search for older things, and while there are some that are scammy from years ago, they link to dead sites or other youtube videos (so far).

I'm also trying not to directly name the videos, in case someone inadvertantly goes looking for them.
