Indeed, much thanks for getting this up there. Most of us had given up hope- this seems incredible.
Just having Icon and flying around an empty city was enough to make one of my friends break down and cry when that came out. Actually having the game back would be like having a home again for a lot of us, and you're making that a reality.

No matter if it's CoH2, CoH i25, or whatever other option - if this goes through, I would really want to see our "darkest hour" tributed in game somehow.
My personal favorite would be Arcanaville's "Immortal Game" turned in to a story arc (even if it's just AE), with a second official storyline about how it all returned, with a certain metal clad canine as a major NPC.

I think the overwhelming majority of people here would second that.  Team, don't worry about rumors or gossip.  Just know that you have lots of former players behind you, grateful for your hard work.  Succeed or fail, we owe you our thanks.

I very much doubt they'd even entertain the notion of allowing those files to be used.  For a start, they don't contain enough information to rebuild a character completely.

Yes, I would call that greed.  Imagine walking up to an ice cream truck and the driver says "Today is your lucky day!  Here is a free cone."  Awesome right?  Of course it's awesome!  Your response isn't going to be "Well...sure.  But only if I can have one of each flavor and each of the toppings as well.  Also, since I bought a cone last week, I think you should throw in an extra one".  You could certainly apply the word "greed" to the fact that people want the game back, but I think that's just a way for those who want it all or nothing to justify their erroneous thought process.

First of all I don't recall any "all or nothing" sentiment.

Secondly, how can you be so "greedy" to want ice cream?   You had ice cream for 8 years...isn't that enough?    8)

Even though I logged in thousands upon thousands of hours on my main character and my many alts I no longer want them back. I want a fresh start after what will likely be over two years since last playing this game. I want it to be a little different to mark what we had to go through and deal with.

You're lucky.   Getting what you want is easy no matter what happens.   If our characters are restored you can delete them easily.

Well, if they were attached to accounts, login accounts, some of us could easily bring that up.  I kept notes of my stuff.

I'm kind of in the same boat that I'd honestly prefer everyone start back at level 1 from a blank slate. Even things like importing titan sentinel data would be a bit..squicky. Whos to say someone else can't fabricate or use someone else's TS Data to re-create that chracter as if they were them.

That would be an incredibly minor problem.

First you would have to eliminate all the players who did not even know about Sentinel.   That takes out most of the player-base right there.

Then you eliminate all the people who did know but have no clue how to do anything "creative" with them. (like me)  That takes out another chunk of the players.

Then you eliminate everyone who knew about Sentinel and who know how to work with it but have no desire to do so.  There goes another chunk of players.

You would be left with a vanishingly small number of players who would have fully loaded lvl 50s I guess.   Hardly seems enough of a reason to not use a great resource like Sentinel.

It'd be unfair to those who didn't have or know about it though.  Are you going to punish people for missing out?  They'd be rather annoyed, at least, it wouldn't help the game coming back imo.

In all honesty I personally just don't think we need to create a new community of "haves" and "have-nots" and that everyone should begin on equal footing, and any have/have-notting comes from what they put in (be that effort/time or money).

Is that how you see the game as it was at shut-down?   A community of haves and have-nots?   If so, that situation was created by time/effort and money....and any "equal footing" will go away extremely quickly for the exact same reasons it went away the first time.   Some people play more, some people play faster.   An interesting bet would be how soon we would see the first lvl 50 toon.   I'm going to say it will happen within the first couple of days.

I just saw someone post on the facebook page that they wanted everyone to start over from square one to make everything "equal" again.    And another person thought that would make the market awesome.   Those people have a big surprise coming.   :P

I'm not a big market person, but I assume it worked on the principle of supply and demand.   Purple recipes were already rare....imagine how a seller could hold out for ridiculous money with a "fresh" market?    Those will instantly become "insanely rare".   That's not going to drive prices down, is it?   (and there will be people will money to spend in the market pretty quickly I predict)
